Thanks to this review, I had lunch at Fifty Fifty Coffee House last month. The Pressed Turkey Sandwich was delicious and the Fifty Fifty Iced Coffee is addictive (I had 2). The service was also great, and I loved the atmosphere. I will be back.
Agia Sophia is my favorite from this list. Good coffee and great atmosphere. Colorado Coffee Merchants is my go to place though, for a good mocha and when I need coffee beans.
Bring back the Philly Cheese sandwich!
A sopaipilla, sopapilla, sopaipa, or cachanga is a kind of fried pastry and a type of quick bread served in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, New Mexico and Texas. Some Mexican restaurants serve them to capture other Latin American customers but they are not know in Mexico.

Nothing will ever beat the Holly and Jeff days at La Petite...it was perfection.
Don't overlook DogTooth Coffee in ONEN at Columbia and Corona Sts.
you missed Kawa Coffee on N. Union....one of the best cups of coffee anywhere!
Having a drink in this place is safe enough, given the alcohol kills the germs from the last person who used the glass...but don't eat the food.
Both Blue Star and Nosh have taken a huge dive in the food department since the Ivywild has opened.
Just tonight there was something very awful in the crab cakes, and just last week a meal at Nosh left me running at half mast for about 24 hours.
John, you're kind of right, in that there's something about my lifestyle that keeps me from fully appreciating the subtleties involved in turning a grizzly bear into decoration. And I must have missed the aisle for people hunting cattle.
Your disdain for Bass Pro is more than obvious. I'm sure as you sit at your desk in the city and munch on your organic tofu salad, you have no way to identify with the American hunter and fisherman. Although you may eat grass fed organic beef (I actually prefer it myself) you do so with never having to kill your own meat, it comes conveniently packaged for you at Whole Foods.
I'm sure the aura of conservative America might have been a bit much in that environ, and the "evil" of capitalism was just too much to take. But really, have you led that sheltered of life?
Non the less. Love your paper!
We really enjoyed the meal from Pho 65 last night - very tasty food and good portions. We had the steak and brisket pho and it was delicious. Also tried the springs rolls - kids love them, and the combination noodle bowl was excellent.

La'au's Taco Shop (830 N. Tejon St., #110, laaustacoshop.com) is under construction, with both interior and patio remodeling in the works. Look for a re-opening this summer.
La'au's is just under construction; it'll be back next summer!
La'au's is closed down for the winter due to CC construction, but is coming back next summer, don't worry!
I enjoyed it last weekend but they need to work on the acoustics. The music was too loud for the space. It would also be nice if they toned down the lights. It would make a cozier, softer atmosphere in the evening. I will go again.
That place is the best.
If it is Portland-esque, it has to be good!
Love the Goose!
