"I'm just gonna do me and leave 20 people unemployed out of the blue and screw over the artists in my gallery, but I just really need to follow my dreams right now."
He just up and left with notice? What a total and complete ass.
At least when the Craftwood closed and left me unemployed I got a text message and they closed because they ran out of money.
You should have gone for their Happy Hour. From 2pm-6pm and 9pm-Close, they have a large majority of their bar menu available for 50% off, and drinks are also discounted by half as well. I can have two beers (Ballast Point Sculpin) and a Steak & Frites for under $20 with tip. Heck of a deal.
VORE's grilled cheese--the Mastery and the Peruvian--are delicious!! Love the fries too!
I used to eat breakfast at the Old Dutch Mill after graveyard shifts, once a week. Since it was MY "Friday Night", I'd kick back a Shock Top or two, as soon as they started serving at 7am. I was just looking the bar up, as I may try to visit The Springs, soon. I was a bit sad, but also very excited, to find this article. The food at The Old Dutch Mill was PHENOMENAL... it was ABSOLUTELY the BEST dive-bar food I have encountered in over 4 decades on this planet. If she's gone into fine-dining, I have no doubt it's amazing.
Love Vore! Amazing grilled cheese sandwiches. To find out where they are, track them on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/voretruck?fref=ts
I have eaten here numerous times and loved everything I had...including the Into The Blue Burger, which I have had more than once and have brought people in just to try! The chicken sandwich is fabulous...my boyfriend, kids and I have liked every single thing we ever ordered. So...to each his own. I would recommend it :)
So... I have been in to give the sarge's a shot, on more than one occasion. Bryce, no offense but I don't typically read not only your reviews but really anyone else's either, unless it's a joint I've been wondering about, but haven't made it into, there just not my thing. However upon seeing the debacle that my friend Shawn's comment started I thought that this one might be worth checking out. I am a locally minded individual that lives in Fountain, with I'd say at least decent ties to the food and bev industry, and am retired military, so this place is right up my alley. Now I have read this and a handful of your other reviews Bryce and I must say I'm a tad disappointed with you on this one. You did not dig deep enough and utilize your skills as a smartass to motivate the owners of this dismal establishment to get their shit together. Being locally owned is not enough, giving a shit is required as well, and before the bitching starts about my lack of a helping hand, I have offered my services to this place pro bono, because I think they have a great model in my neck of the woods and their mission statement is great, however the execution is terrible. I've offered numerous times, I've given them multiple shots, and I've given them their last chance, after the last visit I had their I vowed to myself that I would not renter that door until the location churns them up and spits them out and a new establishment is in this spot, judging by the looks of things, it won't be long, I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. Bryce, don't go soft on us. Shawn local but shitty is still shitty, I love your bread however keep up the good work!
These comments make me LOL.
According to the most factual source of information available, *cough* Wikipedia *cough*, The Independent was created to provide "...informative, entertaining and thought provoking..." articles.
I consider Bryce's words quite thought provoking. No matter how you slice it, he's made you think about his words, albeit somewhat negatively, but think nonetheless.
Shawn, as much as you wish I acted like an advertising agency, here's the actual deal: The point of my reviews is to help readers find new places, and also to comment on the value of the food I sampled, for those interested in my opinion.
It's fine that you want to spray cash at anybody with a Pikes Peak zip code, but there's a percentage of the populace that wants to know if their money will be wasted or not, and operate on guiding principles that involve more than just the address. Guess which one I'm writing for ...
No business deserves support simply for existing.
So I've not had the opportunity to eat at sarges grill as of yet but Bryce Crawford always rips places apart especially local establishments now I'm even more inclined to try them because they need to be supported. This type of review is bad for a small business owner. It would be a better idea to let them know the issues and go back after they have corrected them and then review them and report your experience. The Independent is all about independent businesses but I don't think that Bryce Crawford gets that. I would like to see the independent find a writer that cares about this city and it's local establishments as Matthew Schniper does.

Aaaaand it's gone. Shocker
My wife and I ate there last week and it was cold and bland. Yet another disappointing cajun restaurant in Colorado Springs.
Oh! How sweet! The time is just right for me to attend! Thank goodness for stumbling here. I should sign up now for a reservation on April 19th. Tickets are pretty pricey but I know that the dishes are worthwhile to consume.

Chicken broth? Butter? Wait a minute...$$!!! I am going to have to try this platter out for myself. As a second-generation southerner (Alabama, thank you)...I'm sitting here thinking the aforementioned ingredients are heretical, lol. Blasphemy! I can't imagine my little Alabama grandma working up that roux with those things in a million years. Looking ya up, Breakfast Club! :o)
Awesome! I can't wait to check it out!
I so agree and that sandwich, I had ham and Gruyère was amazing. I am so sorry I missed eggs Benedict.I won't next time.
