The Gazette and COS news channels have sold Bach as the savior of the City for 2 yrs now. Gazette allowed their City Hall reporter to write meaningless, trouble causing blogs about City leadership but he rarely ever wrote about Bach's wrongdoings. When he finally started to reveal all the lies and dealings of the Mayor, Gazette booted him to crime beat. The media is now seeing Bach's refusal to answer questions, and his arrogance of thinking he can do whatever he wants to. Broadmoor needs favors from the City so Gazette will continue to grease Bach's wheels. Wayne Laugesen has been the leader in hiding the man Bach really is. In 2 years it'll be "remember Mayor Bach accused of beating his ex wives, firing all City employees, handing out huge severance packages, and never getting along with anybody". Him and Suzie Q will fade into retirement.

What happen to this City being broke, needing to beef up reserves, etc? MAyor Steve BAch is spending money like there are no hard economic times.

I would move more in the direction of an English system where they took the cops guns and lasers away.
Paul is right, more cars in the southeast part of town and fewer setting up income traps.

Sheliia, And Obama has been a big help funding fat cat solar energy buddies and raising taxes and making oil scarce.
It is a proven fact the conservative Chrisitans contribute far more to organizations like ESM and Care & Share than the local lobs.

Yet another cockamamie idea from the Mayor's hand-picked boy. The Chief's policy of "shoot first, ask questions later" will work well when little Stevie or Queen Suzi are threatened by some citizen whose only crime is to ask a straight-forward question about City policy. The cops don't even enforce red light violations when they occur right in front of a cop car! Can't wait for 2015 to rid ourselves of this jackass of a mayor and his cronies and other hangers on.

What a pitifully prejudicial piece of crap this hit piece was. How much credibility do you figure the extreme left-wing and now defunct ACORN has? They were run out of business in disgrace a few years back.
The loan referenced and described as "predatory" looked like a fairly decent consolidation loan. Can't speak to the insurance since not enough information was given.
There is such a thing as personal responsibility. Why don't all you bleeding heart liberals start your own business lending money? Feel free to lend to anyone you like. We'll see how long you remain in business.
I know, you all think it is your "right" to have everything handed to you. It just isn't "fair" that some people have more than you.

Kevin McClarty - Your list has many problems. 1. The NRA did not start the recall process, local citizens did. 2. Morse is not being recalled because of his support for background checks, he is being recalled to his support of magazine capacity limits, increased tax on gun purchases, liability for sellers of guns, and for specifically saying that he doesn't listen to the "toxic" opinions of his constituents because it "weighs on his psyche". 3. A recall does not somehow diminish the Constitutional rights of voters. It actually gives people more of a voice in government. People are given the opportunity to speak directly to their elected officials and voice their opposition to his actions. Since he doesn't read constituent's letters, maybe he will take notice of the results of a special election.
Power to the people works both ways. This recall takes power from the rich elite like Bloomberg, and gives it back to the little guy.

CO...hard to know what is extremely well paying for a pot head...I just don't want to have to pay for pot caused cancer. So a registry would put you in a pool with other people who engage in risky behaviors and lack healthy habits so you all are covered by your own higher premiums equal to your collective risk. And there are already classes for drinkers and smokers, I would just include pot heads.
I am a perfectly happy and healthy guy who with siggie likes to jazz up all you weirdos with your pants below your butts with a dose of reality, giving you something other than your self justifying thinking on subjects to save you from yourselves and from your ruining our country.

The reasons for homelessness are not as simple as "They've made a mess of their life." Please note the 755 children reported homeless by two school districts, accounting for 64% of the total 1,171 reported homeless in El Paso County. Yes, there are entire families who are homeless. They were most likely hanging on to the American dream with their fingernails before the recession but lay-offs, lack of employment opportunities, minimum wage stagnation, rising gas, food and other costs, etc. tossed them even further down the economic ladder. Did they mess up their lives or even choose their situation? Bad things CAN happen to good people. A little compassion can go a long way...

Nothing surprises me about the cozy relationships Bach, the Gazette, the Koch Bros., AFP have with each other. I'm happy there's an honest paper like the Independent to be our eyes and ears because we certainly won't get the truth from the rest of media in this city.

TT -- Why a registry for legal adult recreational marijuana users? Is there a registry for alcohol or tobacco? Do they test public assistance recipients for alcohol, tobacco, or RX drugs used illegally? You obviously care what other people do since you continue to harass, harangue, b*tch, moan, and whine a whole lot about other people and their situations... I wonder what ever happened to you to turn you into such a miserable human being?
BTW, I have had an extremely well-paying job my entire life and career as do most of my other pot-using friends. I think you'd be surprised at the true demographics of this particular topic.

These stories are just awful. On one hand, some lenders are really predatory and use fraud to make money. On the other hand, I think that homeowners should be more cautions. A mortgage or a home loan is a serious financial commitment and you should make payments in time to stay in your home. Even 1 missed payment can impact the situation. Also it’s worth to choose the lender more carefully and to be more responsible about your loan. If you will understand that you have no money to proceed making payments in the right time then it will be easier to fix the problem and to avoid so frustrating consequences.

@Dan: First of all, thank you for reading my article and taking the time to express your point of view in response to the article. As I see it, and according to the research I did for this article, the NRA initiated the recall movement, sponsored the petition drive and funded the campaign to recall Mr. Morse. Yes, as you say, citizens are the ones who are distributing the petitions for signatures. However, the effort to recall the Senator is being sponsored and funded by the NRA. In so far as the true motivation behind the recall drive is concerned, I did mention the fifteen round limit in my article. It's just that the main impetus of the Senator's bill is the background check piece and this single piece of legislation is the one entity that preempted the recall drive from the start. Dan, we live in a republic, not a direct democracy. We elect our officials to represent us for a specified term of office. If they don't do the job, we vote them out at the next election. Attempts to micromanage every single thing a legislator does while in office is going to seriously impair the legislator's effectiveness and cause the legislator to be hamstrung and afraid to do anything in office for fear of offending someone and being recalled. If a direct democracy is what you want as opposed to a republic, I would recommend that you look into writing and sponsoring a Constitutional amendment to that effect and bring it to all fifty state legislatures for ratification. In the meantime, I would encourage you to live within the parameters of our representative democracy and work vigorously to get the candidates you want elected during the next election cycle.
