Re: “Minimum wage on Colorado ballot

>Of course, not everyone is happy about the prospect. Americans for Prosperity Colorado, backed by the billionaire Koch brothers, released a statement claiming that raising the minimum wage won't reduce poverty and will reduce jobs in the state by tens of thousands.

Of course, the Indy, in its liberal biased cluelessness, has to add a shot at them in the article as a matter of course.

Nevermind that a minimum wage hike is also a tax hike and is a disaster for the economy and small businesses.

Re: “Memorial lease, feeding hungry kids, ColoradoCare, and more

Dan Lewis: at least you know what running a payroll means. The idiots promoting 69 don't.

Physicians for ColoradoCare: Heal thyself. You are clearly suffering from brain damage if you think 69 will accomplish those goals, because it clearly won't.

Brent I. Weiner: But you still have cooties.

Janet Brazill: Not getting anything done is actually an accomplishment since Congress as a rule stinks.

Re: “If voters approve, could ColoradoCare really pay for itself? It's complicated

In simple terms, we taxpayers can't afford this mess.

A tripling of income taxes on fixed-income seniors and small business owner/operators?

A doubling of the state government, placed in the hands of one board?

A single board deciding what get covered for care and when and what doesn't?

NO THANKS!

VOTE NO on 69. It's a kind of screwing we don't want.

Re: “Explosives, junk contribute to Vista Grande neighborhood tensions

Who owns the house? If his mother owns the house, she is entirely responsible for the upkeep and it doesn't matter who is the tenant. The house next to our home is a Victorian tuned into 5 apartments. If we have an issue with any of the tenants or upkeep of the property, we call the landlord. It's then the responsibility of the landlord to ensure the property is maintained or the tenant in question is handled appropriately. If the landlord is not responsive in a timely manner, we call regularly for a couple of days and if the property is unsightly or unsafe - usually goes hand in hand - we then contact code enforcement.

Re: “DEA's long-awaited rescheduling decision may be 'blessing in disguise' for reformers

The DEA, media and others are misleading the public. - It is NOT necessary for marijuana to have ANY medical benefits to be removed from the list of scheduled drugs. Far more harmful alcohol and tobacco have no medical benefits and they are not on the list. - The president can simply DE-schedule marijuana through his Attorney General.

End the federal marijuana prohibition with two clicks!

Re: “Peterson AFB launches commander investigation into religious display

Milt_Johnson,

You point was lost in the fact you are pointing at the NSSI which is an entirely different USAF unit. The RNSSI is not affilited with NSSI nor do they teach astrodynamics. In all fairness, if you are going to poke, please make sure you are poking the correct organization.

Re: “Peterson AFB launches commander investigation into religious display

A Major has a leadership position and he has a captive audience. What objective is he trying to achieve by making such a point with his studied and marked up bible? Does he want everyone to know how humble he is or perhaps he wants everyone to know how much he loves Christ? No matter what his objective, the NSSI is for learning astrodynamics. It is not a place of worship and this display is inappropriate. How did he arrive at this decision? Maybe he should resign his commission and go start a church somewhere, because it would be better to have a copy of “Fundamentals of Astrodynamics and Applications”, or “Understanding Space” on display as those books are not some bronze age fantasy. He has brought disgrace and discredit to his organization.

Re: “Peterson AFB launches commander investigation into religious display

The mission of the military is to defend our diverse nation - not promote religion. A military person's sworn oath is to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States...and bear true faith and allegiance to the same". The Constitution provides for separation of church & state & prohibits public imposition of private religious beliefs on other Americans (USA Constitution 101). Military service is public, religious beliefs are private. Military persons who do not comprehend this and disrespect, dishonor & disregard our Constitution and their sworn oath need to be disciplined & required to take a refresher course on the Constitution & their oath. A Major, a person who by virtue of his position within the unit, unofficially creating a culture of religious "correctness?" He appears to be serving the wrong master at his desk.

The drinks are good, but the tacos are the worst! Dont waste your money on the tacos here, there are several things urban steam does well, tacos are not one of them. Jose Muldoon's is much better for the price.

Re: “Explosives, junk contribute to Vista Grande neighborhood tensions

"wild-haired, bearded and more than a bit disheveled"

"Britten didn't show for his latest court date, sparking a municipal court warrant for his arrest...the El Paso County Court also has two warrants out for Britten's arrest"

"the police bomb squad showed up at the house and detonated what appeared to be a "homemade explosive device."

"Britten freely admits he's a meth addict, saying he became a heroin addict at age 11, and his mother got him off the drug and out of homelessness when he was 13. He says he was drinking heavily when he met a girl and fell in love around the age of 20"

"Britten says he and his two roommates are trying to get their lives together, but he freely admits "it's failed dramatically." With the explosives gone, the Britten household has gone back to being what it has long been to the neighborhood: an eyesore"

"Britten also has warrants for failure to appear for court dates relating to probation from drug charges and a burglary that he says was of metal from an "abandoned" lot. Britten says he was unaware of the warrants, explaining that he mixed up one of his court dates with one of Rozsa's court dates. He also says his lack of a car has kept him from the courts"

Yet he continues to move freely about, an addict with multiple warrants, potentially endangering his neighbors.

Britten's mother, who, she says, simply, "Kids will be kids."

Fine, then she can care for him, since he obviously can't do it himself...
