Re: “Fed up!

We don't have to re-elect her, happyfew. Jariah Walker is a great candidate.

Re: “Ain't no sunshine

Hey, Helene. You better get over to the Gazette article and condemn them for their ignorant comments (which parallel mine)! LMAO!

Not a problem. CSU will give the employees an award at the upcoming July 16th meeting and rate payers will pick up the tab. Its how we are all connected.

Ann Howell · Top Commenter
This is disturbing. Where is the common sense? Now our rates will be raised because of their incompetence.

Neil Talbott · Top Commenter · Northern Arizona University
For over two decades the insurance company has recommended a sprinkler system and utilities failed to deliver...and the city council/utilities board gave Mr. Forte a substantial raise? I am not so sure it was deserved considering that fire damage could have been reduced in this situation if a critical command decision had been made by management anytime during the past two decades. Either way, the utilities ratepayers are stuck with the bills; for a substantial CEO pay increase, and for the power costs while Drake is shut down. Our utilities board appears way too trusting of this public utilities management, and this situation shows they need to either question management decisions more, or, hire a board that can.

Re: “Ain't no sunshine

Yes, Helene, I read the article after posting. Not everyone reads the Gazette if they are fans of the CS Indy. And I do have a right to put the question out there on how much BONUS the CEO made when decisions like this were made.

Maybe these BONUSES should go towards the plant maintenance and getting the some sprinklers then we wouldn't have had this problem with the fire. But since I make less than 40K who am I to question how the money get spent, and how the Mayor and city council wants to just increase taxes to cover the costs of running the city and the utilities plant? Maybe if I got paid what they got paid I wouldn't want anyone questioning the Bonus system given to top officials for doing the job they were paid to do in the first place.

What do others out there have to say on this???

Re: “Ain't no sunshine

Gurud get a life. You may have heard that on the radio but there was not enough factual information to form an intelligent opinion, the operative word is "intelligent". Unfortunately the majority of the citiziens tend to read the gazette and and treat the information like it was factual and accurate, which many times it is not especially with the new owners of the gazette. People are so quick to condemn CSU without understanding the operations, legal requirements, and many other rules and regulations that govern the way they operate. I would suggest you attend some utilities board meetings and try to educate yourself so that you can make an intelligent opinion not just something you heard on the radio.

Re: “Ain't no sunshine

I just heard on the radio that the CS Utilities had the option to purchase sprinkler system in case of fire and they turned it down. So how much was that BONUS that the CS Utilities CEO got, and how much is this going to cost us plant being offline, lost employee pay for shutdown and with the needed repairs?.

Re: “The tick and the time bomb

I've had Lyme disease for 43 years and not one MD and health insurance was helpful. I was left on my own and ended up with advance stage of LD. Luckily, I found something that was very helpful with cutting 85symptoms down to 40 symptoms of co-infections Lyme disease causes. I believe I am better off than those who found no help. Some of the many things I used are found at www.mannamotion.com/glycojan. I also used specific coconut oils. I have lost faith is MDs and the medical system.

Federal Court Rules That Gay Couples Have Constitutional Right To Marry

That was on display in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, when the county clerk in the liberal city of Boulder announced she would issue same-sex marriage licenses even though the 10th Circuit — which along with Colorado and Utah includes, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming — stayed its decision pending appeal. The state's attorney general declared the licenses invalid because Colorado's gay marriage prohibition is still the law, but Clerk and Recorder Hillary Hall said she would continue to issue them until stopped by a court.

Re: “Pride and joy

AND THE STUPIDITY CONTINUES- Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) claimed during a radio interview this week that anti-gay marriage business owners are being sent to “re-education camps” for refusing to serve gay customers.

“You now see situations with bakers and florists and photographers who are being forced to provide services for same-sex weddings or get fined, lose their business,” Santorum said during the appearance on the American Family Association’s “Focal Point” radio program on Monday. “In the case of Colorado, there was a Colorado case recently where someone had to go to a re-education camp if you will. And the amazing thing is that in Colorado gay marriage isn’t even legal!"

Amazing Song and an Awesome message from today’s generation!

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been 40 years since I came out in High School, when you couldn’t or you'd be shunned by your peers. Awesome to see the progress in civil rights over the past year for the LGBTIQ community, hard to believe that “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” has been repealed and more to come with Marriage Equality as it’s declared Unconstitutional in each state of the Union as the cases are finally being heard in the courts of law in this land. We are not free as citizens of this great nation until all are free!

Re: “Sheriff Maketa is under investigation, but all of us are exposed

"David Slanton" - I had a real hard time figuring out what you were saying because your grasp of proper English is deplorable...but I digress.

That said - you think the people filing the complaints "stole" text messages? Really? You realize that would require the people making these complaints to install spyware on these phones ahead of time right? Possible - but HIGHLY unlikely since they would've had to know before the fact that they wouldn't be selected for the promotions. Besides, much of the evidence against Maketa are emails (NOT text messages) that went through county servers...which then makes those emails the property of the county. As such, they are saved for a period of time (one reason is for cases just like this) and they can be pulled if needed.

I believe, as you do, that these relationships were consensual. I don't think Maketa made any promises or said "Hey, have sex with me and I'll promote you." However, based on the evidence, I suspect that because of these consensual relationships, the individuals in question were granted special consideration or favors. But even then - it's unethical (especially considering he's married) and doesn't justify the Sheriff LYING about it when confronted. After all, he's supposed to be the highest ranking law enforcement officer for El Paso County - a position that should have a high degree of honesty and integrity.

Now - maybe these promotions were legitimate. But based on the information at hand I highly doubt it...especially the promotions of Huntz. I've dispatched for Riverside and San Diego counties in CA and Hillsborough county in FL and I can tell you - if I or any other person I worked with done what she had - they would have been walked out the door - literally. If they had somehow kept their job, they most certainly wouldn't have been promoted to supervisor within seven months of the incident over other more qualified dispatchers - especially given the the IA investigations she'd just been through. On top of that, the email from Maketa to her stating that the Undersheriff had been advised and would be looking for her appeal also suggests that she was being "protected."

In Cardarelle's case - maybe she's worthy of the position. But the fact that she was promoted to this position over other, more qualified individuals (who had actual account degrees) while having an affair with Maketa makes her promotion HIGHLY suspect.

All of this is based on my past experience in law enforcement and my objective view of the evidence. I say objective because I no longer work for any law enforcement agency so I have nothing to gain or lose one way or the other. Your comments, on the other hand, appear a bit more subjective and makes it appear that you have some kind of vested interest in all of this - primarily because you're the ONLY one here defending the people in question. It actually leads me to believe that you ARE one of the people involved. Whether you are or not doesn't really matter. What does matter is that the integrity of our Sheriff is in question. If he cheats on his wife with subordinates and lies about it, then what makes you think that he wouldn't also promote or protect someone because of his relationship with them?

At this point, however, I'm not passing judgement him - only pointing out what has already been presented and why your claims don't make any sense.
