Re: “Letters to the Future

January 2027: The world finally realizes that the entire AGW argument was nothing more than an elaborate hoax put forth by scheming liberals to do nothing more than achieve their ultimate goal of planetary enslavement under the liberal socialist political mantra, plunging the entire world into poverty and repression in the name of the liberal religious cult of scientism known as AGW, all to satisfy some elaborate and completely false narrative that somehow they know what's best, when in fact, they don't know Jack Schitt.

Re: “Post-Paris and post-election, meaningful movement toward climate change may stagnate

What a glorious mountain of a hot mess of AGW garbage!

Here's the reality: the climate of the planet, like everything else natural in the known universe, oscillates in sine waves. Right now it happens to be on a relative upcurve of that specific wave for climate. But it isn't linear, and it will peak soon, if it hasn't already, and then it will decline again, as it always does.

And there isn't a darn thing the human insect can do about it one way or another. The laws of nature will cause its own adjustments, not because of humans, but in spite of them.

But such reality is just completely destructive to the huge egos and smugness of the irrational and incorrect liberal mindset that they and only they in their alleged superior mindset can solve the problems that the allegedly lesser minds of non-liberals have caused. The reality is that the liberals don't know squat because they arrive at their analysis with pre-ordained conclusions based on fallacious reasoning and emotive nonsense, then Finagle the data to fit that pre-ordained conclusion instead of actually see what the full data actually says--and it says that their conclusions are simply FOS.

Re: “Indigenous locals travel to Standing Rock to join pipeline resistance

"1,172-mile infrastructure project piping crude oil fracked from the Bakken shale formation"... Be sure the word "fracked" is in there to make i as bad as one can. Then call themselves "water protectors" to sound good. Then they all hop in their pickup trucks and drive the protest site for a project that is almost complete which is an oil pipeline. Oil is stuff that powers their pickups, heats homes etc., all things we demand. Stop driving then. Make government regulate it some more to drive up the costs, eliminate the jobs and have skeleton crews working hard prone to mistakes while the company cuts corners because of profits lost by regulating. The stuff that heats homes has no better way to get to those homes than a pipeline. You won't have water in a frozen home.
1000 mile pipeline is a short run considering there are over 2 million miles of pipeline in this country. So this protest is over perceptions of maybe future problem or protecting water? No. It is protesting on private land which will get one arrested for trespassing and then perhaps a cash payoff to go away so the 10% left to go can be finished. Then protesters can wash their pickup trucks with precious water and drive back to their warm home knowing they have driven up the price of heat, wasted water and will not have to sit in the tipi when the temperature hits 20 below. 2 million miles of pipeline yet to inspect if they are worried about water. We are safe now, except for that damn fracking which if you do not like you can disable your thermostat and walk everywhere. Idiots.

Re: “Indigenous locals travel to Standing Rock to join pipeline resistance

AMERICA DOESN'T NEED TO BRING THIS OIL PIPELINE THRU THEIR LANDS AND RISK POLUTING THEIR RESOURSES! New survey finds twenty billion barrels of oil worth up to $900 billion under west Texas in largest continuous field ever discovered in the U.S.

The old boy network is alive and well here. Be nice if they would do stuff for all of us instead of just lining their wallets.

Operative Statement:

"Members shall not be entitled to vote," because CSF's decisions are reserved for the board.

Re: “Colorado Springs Forward's wealthy and connected hope to steer the city into prosperous waters

Joel - you missed the major point of my comment - I did not call Springs Forward a political group only said they were the "funders" of the party in charge of all things El Paso County. I have lived here over 40 years and in all that time the democrats have never been in control of anything - however if they had been the ones in control I would make the same statement - the argument is not about which party is in charge - it is about giving those who disagree with your views a voice at the table and the opportunity to make suggestions for solutions which if given a chance might improve things for the entire community and not some powerful action group paying to have their best interests put first above community needs. The partisan politics of Washington has trickled down and taken over all levels of government to the great detriment of our nation. In truth I believe we would be much better served by non-patrician local governance. Everyone who lives in this community should have the opportunity to speak their ideas and concerns and in so doing help make this area successful.

Re: “Colorado Springs Forward's wealthy and connected hope to steer the city into prosperous waters

Colorado Springs Forward is nothing more than a new front group for the old Iron Triangle, and is still business as usual in the good old boy network of Colorado Springs and El Paso County:

Yes, they got elected a drug-warrior clueless career politician mayor. Still no cannabis revenue in the city, either.

Yes, they got changed the city manager system in the city to the strong mayor form of government--which has been a disaster.

Yes, they got raised taxes for roads because they can't manage a budget properly.

Yes, they want to screw up the downtown with City for Champions, which nobody outside the Iron Triangle developers want or need.

Yes, they hide in the background, because if the Iron Triangle were exposed, and there would be a political revolution in the city and county to toss out those people who are most responsible for the decline in the local infrastructure and the forced economic dependency on federal defense and tourism dollars instead of diversifying the economy into more manufacturing.

Yes, they were behind Amendment 2, and the area still hasn't shaken that, two decades later.

Yes, they've let development go amok in every direction, which is why east of Academy the streets run in every direction and we still don't have an east-west expressway.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

If -- it it true, as the gentlemen in the article states is true that Colorado Springs has a negative image around the nation - how does sending someone like Amy Lathen to represent Coloado Springs in Washington, D.C. improve that image? Can you imagine her in a meeting with Michael Bennet?

Re: “Colorado Springs Forward's wealthy and connected hope to steer the city into prosperous waters

You're wrong about CSF's political affiliation. Chuck Murphy is a D and others. If CSF was trying to get the money of a mostly Democrat majority, that would be their flavor-- it is purely a demographic analysis for them about what's needed to get their agenda met. Members have excorciated conservative voices for opposing their agendas more than they have done so for others. They are principle-less except in the principle of enriching themselves and providing the best opportunity to get taxpayer corporate welfare for themselves. That's all fine--it's a free country, but short of time-intensive personal research there is no way for the average citizen to know anything about "who's behind the curtain." Besides Pam and her informative approach, all the public sees is CSFs PR facade of wanting to "end divisiveness" and rainbow ponies, because that's what the Gazette puts out and shows up on billboards.

Re: “Colorado Springs Forward's wealthy and connected hope to steer the city into prosperous waters

It just proves why our government was intended to be at least a two party system - so that all citizens had some chance of having their voices heard. If one party controls all the elected positions and appointed offices that is not a democratic approach to governing. So it is no surprise the "funders" of the party in charge of all things El Paso County are the real ones running the City and County. And yes it is difficult to live here - discouraging when everyone complains about how bad the roads are and no one wants a downtown stadium yet they just refuse to give anyone not hand picked by the powers that be a chance of trying to make a difference. But if you and others with a different point of view leave then who will be left to be a thorn in their side? Someone has to at least try to keep them honest.

Re: “Colorado Springs Forward's wealthy and connected hope to steer the city into prosperous waters

How comforting it is to know that a handful of wealthy patrons are looking after me and the city in which I live - even going so far as to provide me with a ready-made palette of candidates for office. Not.
One can only hope that, being fully accustomed to getting their own way, the members of CSF and like-minded other organizations will find at least one issue upon which there is hearty disagreement. One further hopes that each puts itself out-of-commission while doing battle to gain the upper hand.
The more I learn about the inner-workings of Colorado Springs, the less I want to live here.

Re: “Welcome to Kolorado, Klan Kountry

The Indy didn't lie. They printed a dated story from the Denver Post. Ed Quillen was a well researched writer and I miss my old friend dearly. The Dems and Repubs pretty muched switched places in the sixties what with the southerners running from the Kennedys and Lynden.
Look again at this article and surmise just which party today would best embrace this behavior.
Ghandi told us I like your Christ, your Christians, not so much.
