Re: “City for Champions hits snags, generates controversy

Instead of anyone spending $28M for any stadium, that sum of money would be vastly better spent building the youth sports complex known as the Scott Hall Field of Dreams on the abandoned Colorado Crossing site. Let's do something for OUR kids and not the hotel and bar tourist trade.

Suthers' "Bridge to Nowhere" is a great idea to make it easy for the homeless population to get around and annoy what visitors we do have. Once word gets out on Yelp that ATB Park is swarming with homeless dudes swilling T-Bird and smoking weed watch how quickly it becomes a ghost town. But it will become a mecca for police activity, er, I mean an OJT site for new cops.

NO STADIUM. NO AIRCRAFT MUSEUM. NO BRIDGE. NO WASTED TAX FUNDS

Re: “Neumann Systems Group will close shop after two decades due to changing energy market

All patents and copyrights associated with this technology should revert to CSU and the taxpayers of this city, as we provided the money to build and prove the efficacy of the design and construction.

Our city should then market this technology to coal-fired power plants around the world as there is a dire need for improvement in air quality, especially in China.

We should not let Dr. Neumann, and/or any of his associates, walk away with these patents and milk foreign markets for billions unless our city gets the share it was promised in the original agreement.

Where is our "STRONG MAYOR" on making sure our city enjoys the revenue stream it was promised -- or has he been bought off, like all the other GOP types.

Re: “Trump to skip Air Force Academy graduation

I did not vote for Trump. However, in all fairness, Trump is not skipping the AFA. Instead he is speaking at one of the other FOUR institutions that presidents rotate through. Pres Obama spoke at the AFA last year, and the normal rotation would put the president at the Naval Academy this year. This is a list of Obama's graduation speeches each year: https://www.google.com/amp/www.nj.com/articles/18376199/here_are_the_other_graduations_president_obama_has.amp

However, due to a scheduling conflict with an overseas trip, Trump is speaking at the coast guard graduation this year instead of the Naval Academy. This is one of the FOUR places in the rotation, not three as your article states. https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/04/19/trump-to-keynote-us-coast-guard-academy-graduates-on-may-17.amp.html

See also this April 13th article (before Trump's Coast Guard speech was finalized) that details the four year rotation and the scheduling conflict: http://www.theday.com/article/20170413/NWS09/170419674

I don't care for Mr Trump at all. But your article is unfair. It leaves the reader with the impression he is snubbing the AFA. That is simply not true. He was not due to speak here this year, and he is in fact speaking at one of the four institutions where presidents speak each year.

Your point about speaking at a religious institution graduation is indeed worthy of examination, but it's unfair to frame your article as though he is speaking at Liberty instead of the AFA.

Re: “Trump to skip Air Force Academy graduation

Not speaking at the AFA but speaking at an Evangelical University? Well, if that isn't the most Un-American thing I've ever heard of... What a douchebag and an embarrassment.

Re: “Trump to skip Air Force Academy graduation

Perhaps if the ceremony was held in Florida #45 could make it...the Academy is better off with the Retired Marine Corp General!

Re: “An accomplished couple wants to bring skiing to nearby mountains, but it won't be easy

I live in castle rock so it would be very nice if there is a ski resort 40 minutes from my house and that area does get a lot of snow enough In that area so their could be a ski resort but With the rise of climate change and the area not being the coolest how long would it stay open also how many tress would they need to cut down, so I'm skeptical of a resort at ormes peak I personally think the old pikes peak ski area would be better. So despite what I've said everyone in Colorado Springs, pueblo, Canyon city and Douglas county would be happy for a new ski resort so close. The problems it would cause is traffic in the neighborhood and the disruption of wildlife ecosystem sooooo I highly doubt this is actually going to happen but it would be cool

Re: “Army stages one of its biggest drills yet at Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site

What a contrast of stories on Raider Focus II between the Gazette and the Indy. The Gazette releases a long bunch of happy talk and the Indy digs down into the weeds and tells us the real story.

More insider dealing in our local club of the well connected. It's way past time to clean house in this city.

Underhanded to hide opportunities from others in the community.

Norwood will get it's million dollar investment in buying a new form of government back on the Olympic Museum deal.

Re: “'Would you please look at this?'

I'm the man in this article my name is Joseph Martinez a few things on here was incorrect they drop charges on me because I took a lie detector test and passed it and when told that I was going to get a fair lineup all they did was have sit outside of the courtroom and as the undercover cop got off the elevator the DEA pointed me out with their eyes after that the undercover cop came up to me and tried to accuse me knowing that he got the wrong guy just to save his own butt when I tried suing the city the judge handling my case told my attorney I wasn't getting nothing and that they had a right to do what they did kind of sucks because a lot of them in the judicial system will never know what it feels like to wake up day after day having to look over your shoulder being paranoid

Re: “Colorado Springs faces lawsuit over out-sourced fleet maintenance contract

The cost savings the city was looking for was not in current operations, but in shedding "costly pension obligations" that will come due in the future.

Re: “Colorado Springs faces lawsuit over out-sourced fleet maintenance contract

It is illegal for Colorado Springs municipal employees to form a union. Also Colorado State employees are not allowed to form a union.

However, I agree that it was a huge mistake to dismantle Fleet and downsize many other municipal departments claiming it would save money. That just hasn't happened. Quality of and response times also suffer.

Re: “Colorado Springs faces lawsuit over out-sourced fleet maintenance contract

Outsourcing of unionized city jobs to the vaunted private sector was NOT done for cost savings. It was Mayor Botch's payback for the financial support from the Koch Bros' political organization. The Kochs utterly hate any and all unions, but especially unions for public employees. The work needs to be brought back in-house for true cost savings. FYI: Andy Pico was working for that firm at the time of the contract but claims he had nothing to do with it - believe what you want.

Re: “Bancroft Park band shell to be repaired after councilor 'horse trading'

Keith King took a bribe!
He voted for something this City doesn't want or need in exchange for money to fix a park. Not to mention that council wasn't told about the insurance money until after this vote.
