I agree with them if for no other reason than because it would make our city a real hell hole to have drilling towers near businesses and neighborhoods...banning fracking within city limits seems like a no-brainer.
Unless the Broadmoor wants derricks along their golf courses, and we all know what the Broadmoor wants, the Broadmoor gets.

I'm guessing you have not lived locally that long. Isaac was the mayor for 23 years, not the city manager.

CoS isn't a place to start a career or family, it is a place to retire. I left, along with 8 of my good CoS friends, within the past year. The Springs is a beautiful place to live, but not grow. I'm okay with it because it is too late for the area. Studying national economic and social trends for YPs shows that those regions that haven't gotten the mix right yet, will fail. Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins is a "mega region" that encourages opportunity, while CoS is better grouped with Pueblo. (Florida, Richard "Who's Your City? 2008)
YPs can gain more experience at a quicker rate in areas that encourage them to produce. It is in our best interest to learn to lead elsewhere, then return with enhanced skills and knowledge when the old guard dies. Our energy is truly better spent elsewhere.
Colorad Springs: Lovely to visit, or retire.

I have lived in both Denver and COS for over 20 years each. Of course Denver (metro) has more jobs; it is over 5 times larger. It has more of everything. It also has traffic problems that coincide. Definitely many more good looking women in Denver. The Springs is certainly more aesthetically pleasing.
What I cannot figure is how some of you miserable, negative, jaundiced people ever make it out of bed in the morning. Do you ever have positive thoughts or is everything that you perceive always bleak and hideous?

Colorado Springs has calcified, politically. Bullies like Keith King (former Cheyenne Mtn School District board, former state senator, now Council president), the Broadmoor's Steve Bartolin, and real estate developers still run the show, no questions asked. With the exception of stationed military and college students, young people desert C/S in droves, and who can blame them? King's Council is chasing a progressive young entrepreneur -- whose business model directly counters the destructive and dirty energy policies foisted on C/S by Council -- out of town. How sad, how typical, how backward. When O When will C/S citizens awaken from this dittohead stupor?

I haven't lived in Denver, but every young person I know tells me it's a better place to live. Usually this is because it's easier to find a job up there. The lack of a political voice is not a concern for the majority of young people. Political representation is not going to affect young people's lives (or...they won't care if it does impact them). Unless our local government grows some 'teeth' and starts fighting for a revitalized lower-middle economy then the only young people here will be the ones just passing through.
by the way, your religious life is yours personally, our local government doesn't have the jurisdiction to condenm the entire town to hell.

Well. There isn't much for a young person in the springs these days, or anywhere for that matter. Let the news tell you unemployment is down, and know that they are lying to you.

Part of the problem for young people in our town is that they are either high tech geeks who don't go out at night, or they are gay, or they are PTSD guys from fort Carson looking to stab someone.
Then that crowd has as their only options bad bars on Tejon or chain bars on Powers.
Not a good place for young people.

The Colorado Medicaid Director admits the tool has flaws in her letter to the Medical Services Board, http://joshuawinkler.com/MSB_Letter-Pediat…, but refuses to restore hours to kids while they attempt to fix the broken tool. This Pediatric tool is based on a Medicare tool used to evaluate homebound seniors, not kids who can and should be able to participate in their community.

This tool was implemented as part of a larger home health rule "benefit standard", advocacy organizations across the state warned the department in September 2012 the tool was flawed, and informed the Medical Services Board of their concerns in a joint letter, http://joshuawinkler.com/MSB_Concerns.pdf, the dep't did nothing and children with disabilities across Colorado are suffering as a result!

The real estate and development people have long been in control of this town...which is why we have water restrictions, over-development with no compensatory costs or fees for infrastructure, pure profit for the Broadmoor crowd.

This city has been mismanaged since Bob Isaac stepped down as city manager.
The mayor is living in denial about the true city demographic, council decisions are controlled by the new housing/development types, and no one seems to be capable of hiring people who have the spunk, skills, and ideas to stand up and make a difference. The growth in the use of consultants is a clear indicator that the dike is leaking and only stopgap measures are being taken.
The city's future is in question. Will it sink further into decay or become a thriving metropolis? That is the challenge to our current city leadership. My money is on the former.

Milligan is a far left whack job who is trying to recreate the city to be godless and valueless, she is anti-family and anti-religion, so of course she is not 'at the table'...we are not that sort of community, nor do we want to be...it is the path to hell.

As my experience as a young professional who also has grown up in this city, this city will always be full of corrupt good ole boys who never want to change or grow. The only hope for the youth who live in this dead end town is to move to Denver. I lived there briefly and it was so much better. The job situation is better, the people are friendlier, there's more to do up there, I feel safer up here (unlike here), there's open minded people unlike here, and the women are mega babes and aren't unreasonably stuck up like here. In fact I want to move back to Denver. This town gives me the creeps how backwards it is. Definitely more negatives than positives if you live here, especially if you are normal and college educated and not in the military.

Great idea, TejonTech! Let's just let kids shoot up anything they want in school without teacher intervention. Some of them might just be taking allergy medication.
