Hands down the best place to eat in Colorado Springs...and fairly priced even still...and everyone is important...the food is so carefully prepared and served...makes me hungry even to think about eating there.
"Stomach-stirring" sounds like something one doesn't want to have!
Thank you Indy for the great write up of Urban Steam. They've introduced a Monkey Wrench into my breakfast plans and I love it!
Beer Lover...this is certainly not my experience of this place...the service was very accommodating and eager to please without being bothersome. The beer was cold and thirst quenching as well mind bending. The food was real high end bar food, as good as it gets in Colorado Springs. I will certainly become as much a regular here as the fiscal cliff will allow me.
Obviously this place gets a favorable review due to advertising. The service is horrible, the food comes out cold and the beer is foul. I've yet been able to eat or drink a beautiful building. The owners may be able to hire talented contractors, but have no clue how to run a brewery or restaraunt. Their brewing equipment is not even hooked up at the new location. The staff at both locations don't appear to have any training to speak of and don't have a clue about the menu or beers. Waste of time and money!!!
The torta ahogada is meant to be drowning in sauce (ahogada literally means "drowned"). That's the style in Guadalajara, where that style of torta originates. Thanks for the review -- looking forward to trying Quijote's! Yum.
I am less than eager to patronize establishments that are sqaking about health care reform. Especially when the owners have a numerous restaurants and are clearly not hurting.
I find they lack quality control, are fairly inconsistent, and simply not very careful.
The sausage varies from having sat under the heater lamp and dried out to raw in the center. If you order three eggs, you could easily be served two. The amazing thing is that the menu lists three eggs, so why would you ever just have two delivered from the kitchen.
The pancakes can range from rubber to raw as well. They still need a little work...also having a 20 year old waitress have to tell you what they like is beside the point, my tastebuds are a bit more known to me than needing their input.
This place is very very nice, glad to have you there, cares that you have a good experience, and rightly proud of their food. I don't know where to begin talking about what is good here, just a really nice place to have a healthy and satisfactory bite to eat, feeling good in your tummy after the fact.
Thanks for the great review that caused me to stop "viewing" this place as I passed and actually head in to review my self and it passed...with flying flavors!!! So much love in the people, space, art, music, drinks, and food!!! I left feeling fully satisfied from soles to soul!
We had dinner at 2South tonight and the food was great. Our charcuterie had a very good duck pate along with the sausage and wonderful bacon. The pickles were good, too. The tomato bisque and macaroni and cheese were very good. The service wasn't up to the level of the food. They really shouldn't be sorting silverware on a table in the dining room. The pacing on the food and clearing wasn't good. We will be back. It is well worth a visit.
I had brunch on Sunday 11/18/12 and had a great exprience with the young kid that cooked my omelet. I think his name was Brian. He was full of energy and had great customer service. With being a customer service auditor, I would hire him to work for me. Awesome Job Brian!
How we know you guys are waiters there?
I was blown away by the quality of the food every time I have been to 2 South! The variety of flavors and the presentation was wonderful! And with over 70 wines to choose from I have yet to be disappointed. I have been and will continue to recommend this new cozy venue to everyone!
I've been in a few times now and was pleased with both food and drink each visit. The owner Rod was happy to bring me a taste of wines until I was satisfied with a choice, and the variety of foods I've had there have all been very good, including the fried chicken! I thought the fall-off-the-bone meat was a bonus, not a detriment. I hope anyone reading this review will understand that this is a brand new restaurant/wine bar and give it a little time to iron out any "flaws". I'll certainly be back for more to eat and drink.
Good points, Brian. My wife and I have been there several times. Not sure why the reviewer didn't even try any of the bottled wines by the glass-of which there were many good offerings. Last time, I had the Burgess Syrah and it was fantastic. It seems to me you get what you pay for with most house wines. Every time we've gone we've eaten and we've been very pleased with all our food.
See...that is what I am talking about. Thanks Brian!
I went there pre opening nite. I liked the place but their tap wine which I think was that Parducci was swill. I mean it tasted like the bottles I keep around to cook with.
Not their fault but we did not get a menu of the other wines they were offering by the glass. I would have paid more to not drink that mess. I don't think they should even serve it.
No food that night so I won't hold them on that but there are a lot of choice in Old CO. I would go for the wine as long as they have some decent ones by the glass. This review really did not dive into that.
Since it's a wine bar it would have been nice to see the reviewer discuss their wine offerings. Sort of like going to a brewpub and ordering a coke.
But it sounds like a high dollar risk until they sort some things out...I for one will wait for the all clear signal
I have been to this restaurant multiple time, and the food has always been perfection. Please don't let this article dissuade you from enjoying a delicious meal in such a cool atmosphere.
