Re: “UPDATE: Is Richard Skorman really in bed with 'Big Marijuana?'

Mr. Stein and Ms. Zubeck have done an excellent job in tracking the money in the city council election - When one 'blows away the smoke' the amount of dollars who is getting from whom makes an interesting visual. Check it out.…

Re: “UPDATE: Is Richard Skorman really in bed with 'Big Marijuana?'

This is a spot on analysis. Richard gets my vote. I used to write for a newspaper called The Bottom of the Bird Cage. As owned by Anschutz, the Gazette has become my chief contender for that location.

Re: “Resident suggests plot be labeled 'Suthers Park'

I am calling on John Suthers to admit publicly that he was mistaken when he repeatedly claimed that the land swap was good for the community. Why has the Mayor refused to respond to yet another email that I sent to his office just this week? The City cannot accept the appraisal that the Broadmoor submitted for that deal. You can see my most recent email that the Mayor has ignored at the Facebook page I manage COS Land Swap. The questions and facts in that email are legal questions and cannot be ignored by the City.

Re: “Resident suggests plot be labeled 'Suthers Park'

Wonderful- Suthers Park!! He worked hard for it so he should have the credit. Let's start a petition to name it that. I will gladly donate the ribbon and scissors for the opening ceremony, as well as a plaque for his name. I will also provide a photographer to memorialize the momentous occasion. I assume the parks department has plans to update the abandoned structure (Suthers Hall ) on the property where we can hold his reception.
Great idea!

Long may Suthers Park be free and open to the public! This is a brilliant piece of work.

Thank you for printing this! Satire is one of the truest art forms, and this letter is brilliant. Suthers Park has such a nice ring to it, and will preserve his legacy in perpetuity!

Re: “Emma Oosterhous webcomic tells stories of LGBTQ youth

Want to read an erotica/ fiction ebook by a local lesbian author set in Colorado Springs? Check out "Adventures of a GWF REBORN" on amazon. I really think our local LGBT would enjoy it highly to read about being gay in the 90's in CS back in the day!

Re: “The Gazette lifted our jail food story

Way to call it! Thank you Pam and the Independent for another example of fine investigative journalism. It's sad that you have to waste time investigating the path of other journalists (Cora request tracking) who copy your work without giving credit where it was due.)

Re: “CSPD's academy flunks eight due to failing the driving test

I'm curious as to how much drive training they get prior to the test? It didn't specify, just that it was inaccurate. The whole trainer flying the drone thing should raise some eyebrows within the police hierarchy.

Re: “Prepping your first-time camper

Summer Camp is so important, it gets kids outside and away from their screens. Yet, as parents, we all want to be sure our kids are safe. Any camp you select especially Overnight Camps should be accredited by the ACA, they check over 300 camp items. I know I own Swift Nature Camp

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs Council race draws mystery poll

CSF hired homophobe Amy Lathen as their voice. All their candidates are spouting the same crap. I smell 1992...No companies moving here because of their backward thinking. Fowler screwed his neighbors after the Waldo fire, through the HOA board. Crow is government welfare queen, drug tests government employees. Never gonna have legal pot with her around.

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs Council race draws mystery poll

The GOP uses Springs Forward and pays other 'activists' to work their agenda locally. The local developers and Oil companies want their hands on decisions about our utility company. There are development opportunities for In fill and revitalization and these folks want to give themselves subsidizes to do it.

I think Jill and Richard will help this town.

Re: “CSPD's academy flunks eight due to failing the driving test

"If equipment (uniforms, guns, tasers and body armor) is factored in, one recruit guessed the bill at about $200,000."

Do the recruits get to take their gun, taser, and body armor with them when they leave? I doubt it, so just sensationalizing for reaction?

Re: “Follow the money in the Springs' city election

To me, it is incredibly scary and sickening that so many candidates are in bed with Developers. After all, it was the CITY along with their financial backers (Developers) who KNOWINGLY ALLOWED HOUSES TO BE BUILT ON A LANDSLIDE! And to make matters worse, are now planning to build a LOW INCOME housing project in the very same area; so that properties in Broadmoor bluffs will lose ALL of their value!!!

Re: “Fresh hope for Springs' City Council in election

Who do you think will win in each district - and what importance do endorsements have on your decision on issues and/or candidates? A three minute quick -poll. Thank you…

Re: “Fresh hope for Springs' City Council in election

This is one of the first times I've done my research on my candidates before reading endorsements. I'll be interested to see how my opinion will be swayed between now and when I submit my ballot.

Re: “Tenacious advocate for the homeless leaves behind an outsized legacy

She was a beautiful soul, a rare treasure indeed. I came out from Guam and was able to spend 4 days with her. The streets had been so harsh to her and she was worn down to a nub. A flickering Candle about to be extinguished. I poured all the food, love, and encouragement I could had into her in those 4 days. She was a fighter and she took in the truth of who she was and rallied around to Take On The World. She herself was in awe of what she was accomplishing. I was not. I like to think I had a part of this great accomplishment of hers in this last year. Even if my only contribution was to love and not judge. That was her message. More Love, be less of a judge. And don't sit in your ivory white tower thinking you don't need to do anything. That this battle does not concern you. It concerns us all. We must all do whatever we can. Even if that is a look into the eyes of someone who is struggling. A look that says I see you, You're a person, you are valuable You Are Not Alone. I was so honored to be loved by Raven we talked almost every day. her love made me feel special. I have lost my dearest friend and my greatest treasure. RIP my Neni Girl, Hu guaiya hao, always and forever
