Re: “A Black Day: Local emcees form a Springs supergroup

Black P promotes shows where it is openly acceptable to rap over lyrics. He is not being accused of lip sync'n in the article. However, I have seen people Dj Shevy Dj'd for at union station lip sync their butts off for paying customers at a Black P promoted show... the point being made is that in one local scene it is not acceptable to play an entire CD with vocals and perform on top of it, and in the other led by one Black P the promoter IT IS ACCEPTED..

Re: “A Black Day: Local emcees form a Springs supergroup

Black P actually doesn't use his vocals on every track. Some on the hook and only 2 songs. One song he jumps in the crowd and the other is a song he is featured on. Either way he is actually performing ALL his songs. He isn't lip syncing at all, not one bit. When he performs you hear his voice over the tracks that may have vocals or back up vocals. If you can't tell its 100% him on stage then he must have that much stamina or you just aren't listening. I support all local acts and talent. I have been in the seen for few years now and respect everyone who goes after a dream. I know Black P is actually rapping because I have ALL his show cuts on my laptop, I am his DJ. I have been his DJ since the Brass Knuckle King album. I have DJed for most of the Hip-Hop acts in Colorado Springs, Denver, Foco and other parts of the state and I have heard artists that really do lip sync and just act like they are rapping. Black P, on the other hand, is most defiantly not faking his performance. The ReMINDers use their voices 100% as well. I know they weren't included in that but just in case people questioned their performances. I have DJed for them several times and you can't fake their performance. To me, Black P and The ReMINDers are the leaders of southern CO Hip-Hop and their track records prove it. Bottom line is Black P doesn't lip sync or use vocals on every track. He grew up on performing the lyrics word for word over the beat. He is 100% performing EVERY track on stage with or without back up vocals. Go to a show and see for yourself.

@siggie Go to his show. I just went last night and there was just great music. There's no need to miss out because of that fear. If you love the guy, go listen to him.

Re: “Everlast explores the life acoustic

I don't expect him to come out with a new album soon, he just released Life Acoustic and it is great. But when Everlast does release something new I'll buy it. I didn't care for La Coka Nostra but glad to see Everlast is doing hip hop still.

Re: “From GWAR to eternity: Mobile Deathcamp takes out the thrash

Hard work is very important in any work to go from top to bottom. This is the result of their hard work that Todd Evans and his band members are successfully running this band.

Re: “Todd Snider trips the life fantastic

Been following Todd for over 10 years. My wife and I are in our mid 60's, non hippie or druggies, but just love his "life is too short not to have fun" attitude. We live in Florida near Tampa and have driven to Atlanta to see him, and lucked out and saw him in Colorado, while visiting sister-in-law. If in a funky mood, grab one of his cd's and stop taking everything so seriously, and poof, it's gone. Only thing I don't like about him is that he doesn't come to mid Florida, enough. Hope I didn't tick him off...........Nah...he would just shrug it off!

The talent and amazing gift (curse). Todd Snider displays is beyond impressive....an amazing man...who just seems to be class and trash with ease. Of course , now I have to find Slacker and watch it. Local chamber of commerce doesn't like it? LOL

Great interview, man. Really casual and informative. Oliveros is a towering figure, and you make it all approachable.

Re: “Backstage confidential

A familiarity with known musicians should be required but I have found this not to be true. Perhaps the same old story (30 years and still going) of "no music scene in the Springs" shall never change. Perhaps I am too old now and not a good demographic target, just a target.

Re: “Arab springboard

Hello, I am a grade 9 student. I think the things that Omar Offendum is doing are very commendable. By rapping about the events going on within the Arab Spring, he is raising awareness about the Arab Spring. Also, by paying homage to the revolution and people involved in it, he is encouraging people to stand up for what they believe in. He is also encouraging people to try to make things better, even though in this case they did not necessarily get better. I strongly agree with the decisions to feature him in interviews with PBS, Al Jazeera, and Rolling Stone, and with the decisions to have him perform at Colorado College on Martin Luther King Day and at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum because it will definitely raise even more awareness. Since pop culture is such a big industry all around the world, why not use it for good causes such as this one? This could draw much attention to Offendum, and the Arab Spring. I also think Offendum deserves respect for explaining to people that stereotypes about Arabians are not true for many people, speaking out about how “we're not terrorists, we're not extremists, we're not this or that. Instead I tell people what it is that we are, and why we're so proud of our culture, our heritage and our background." In general, I strongly support Offendum and his intentions.
