It's very telling how unexcited these chefs are about dining in the Springs, especially for dinner. Depressing, really.
Pear Martini at the Rabbit Hole.
where is the "Mountain view" dining room at the Cheyene Mountain Resort? great evening menu (not just buffet). also yummy sunday brunch.
Swirl fit into our criteria of having been reviewed in 2010 — simple as that really.
We could certainly come under fire for also including Squeak Soda Shop in place of other outfits that do more food than drink, but I chose not to cut it because it is so unique and interesting and adds diversity to the package.
In that perfect world I describe in last week's Long Story Short (click here), I would not only have time to dine at each featured spot prior to print, but also time to include just about every eatery in town for an even more comprehensive guide.
Is there anyone in particular you'd like to see in Swirl's place, or one of your favorites that we've missed?
Thanks for reading and for your comment.
I like the format of your guide to eating well in the Pikes Peak region through your Bites Guide. You have given me some restaurants to try throughout the upcoming year, and restaurants that are favorites of mine that have received praise make me smile. I do wonder how Swirl Wine Bar was added to this list considering the offerings there are the basics of crackers, cheese and meats added to a plate and brought to the table. Hardly the same length of time and attention given to food in a true restaurant sense. Yes, the wine selection is great, but this guide is supposed to be about restaurants not about ingredients I could obtain from a local Whole Foods and serve in my own home on a plate.
Thanks for the note. You prompted us to add a link at the top of this document to our "Restaurant Search," where you can sort/search by neighborhood, price, cuisine, etc.
It may take us a few days to get all our write-ups uploaded to this database, but even in the interim, you should be able to read any other write-ups we've done on a given restaurant in the past couple years, as well as reader reviews and upcoming events at that restaurant. Thanks again.
Great listing, and thank you, but I wish it were viewable as a spreadsheet, so I could sort/view it by zip code (to find what's nearby) or by type of food, or by how many $$$, etc.
I've eaten at Nawlins more than a couple times and always found the food portions generous and very tasty. I like the atmosphere and the service is excellent. I do plan to go back more often.
Have you been to NEMO'S on Pikes Peak? They have the best chicken salad in town. I discovered it several months ago and now I can't get enough. Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing. And I don't even drink coffee. Really, you guys should review this place!!!
