Re: “Noted: Busy year ahead in Manitou

Hello,
Loved the article about the homless. Thank you for bringing that to light. We all could end up there one day. Most of us are one paycheck away from homelessness. Help your fellow brothers and sisters and pets. My idea is to use LOTTO and POWERBALL dollars (I think we have enough parks) to help fund some sort of tent city that has bathroom/showers. Have the people living there have to pitch in to keep it clean on a rotational basis. If not you LEAVE!! Have people that have to do community service clean the parks. That saves that money for a better use. I think everyone should visit the dignityvillage.org website. There must be something we can all do. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!! Blessings to us all. HM C/S CO

Re: “Noted: More Army suicides

About the suicide, It is easy to quote 147 for 2009 but you left out the other Numbers?
Total number serving in the Army, Show the percentages and national Stats. compare and contrast is a must....El Paso county? Have you examined the broken system here in our back yard, How much Funds does the City, County, State commit for this service and the what Percentage for Civilians out of the budget?

I am sorry that lives have been taken by ones own hand, It pains me so. I hope the Families recognise the signs or symptoms before it is to late. I too am retired Army and feel for the soldiers. I do Have a problem with articles like this that use Half witted Stats for a self serving agenda.......Shame on you for your shollow reflection.

Re: “Noted: 2010 election shaping up

I appears from your blog that Weinstein thinks we should have prayer police. What he's really after, according to his website, is complete freedom from religion in the military. This is from his website: "When one proudly dons a U.S. Military uniform, there is only one religious symbol: the American flag. There is only one religious scripture: the American Constitution. Finally, there is only one religious faith: American patriotism." Here's the URL if you want to look up this chilling manifesto yourself. http://militaryreligiousfreedom.org/newsle…

Re: “Noted: White Acres bill paid

The city needs someone who knows how to work a budget. Like a woman who has had to make every penny work for her in the toughest of times. My suggestions would be to get rid of there city funded cell phones no one needs to get a hold of them that bad they can't leave a message with there secretary use your personal cell for personal calls. The last time I looked my employer did not give me a car to drive to work. Get rid of city and state cars, the insurance and maintenance needed for them and there is your money for our POLICE AND FIRE DEPT! What other perks could they get rid of to keep the community safe let them take the cuts not us. At the state level get ride of the online food stamp program it does not work it has to many errors that can not be fixed and no one knows how. JP Morgan I am sure is paid a pretty penny for the useless website. If we can save the Olympic Center lets save the city from despair before the crime rate gets out of hand and people sue because there are not enough fire fighters to save there houses from a fire. Lets fix the problems before they happen not create problems to fix later.

Even anticipating the springsgov avatar, it still startled the crap out of me. My first reaction was to click the x. How often folks use the guide may be determined by the strength of their hearts.

Re: “Noted: Sean Paige chosen for Council seat

I love articles like this. What a load of hogwash and money scrunching. Lets not take into account the fact that each year for the past 5 and over the next 11 years, .9% of permanent colorado springs residents will retire each year and officially be on social security; thus under the "poverty line." Lets also not take into effect the fact that a hefty portion of people in this city are military either receiving housing pay or a free house, while living under the "poverty line." Im out and about every single day and I see job wanted signs all over. Target is hiring, Wal mart is hiring, SOS Staffing is hiring, so are firms and thinktanks like BoeCorp. The places that are losing people are ITT and other Space Based securities industries because of Obamas ridiculous plan of cutting the space warfare budget. Good to know that the sattelite tracking and imagery programs along with our early warning defense systems are not high on his "important" list. Much better to bail out GM and send their factories to Brazil. I have one of two things to say to those out of work in the Springs. A. Go out and find a job, even if its temporary. I don't want to hear you complain anymore. People are being hired every day. I don't care if you have a Master's degree, no job is below you if it feeds your family. Get over yourselves. B. If you voted for the current administration than you only have yourself to blame. Why you would think that a complete lack of experience made a good running platform for the presidency of an entire nation is beyond my comprehension. On that note, please vote for me next election. I have never been a senator, governer, mayor or house member, however i did organize a fundraiser for troop 119 boy scouts bake sale. Oh, and i promise you that I will put money back into your pockets, won't endorse pork barrel spending and end every war on the planet within two years. Yes I can!

Re: “Noted: Sean Paige chosen for Council seat

Once people get a "taste" of living on the Governmental payroll...there's no going back. Besides HUGE salaries (that most of us only dream of today), the benefits are full, complete, and after you hold Elected Office....unending. Yes, it's good to see that our current and former Elected Office-holders STILL want to get those GREAT Governmental paychecks and all-inclusive benefits. If ANYONE can tell me or remind me of some reason(s) exactly WHY we should support current or former County Officials (Ed Jones, Wayne Williams) for further Governmental positions (meaning...show me what GOOD they have done and/or brought to our area: City and County)....then they might be worth considering. But, as far as I can tell....they haven't really "helped" our area that much (in their past jobs/positions/Offices)- we are all poorer and in worse shape in EVERY way in our lives (personally and professionally) or have I missed something?

Re: “Noted: Sean Paige chosen for Council seat

Good for Bob Balink. It's really OK to expect people to "look good" in a professional setting. It's even better when the setting is a Governmental Office. The "slobs" out there in the business, professional, media, education world today take note....there ARE people who notice how frumpy and lousy you look....

There REALLY are!!!

Re: “Noted: Rabies spreads

"combination of recycled photos from past rallies" really?
Why don't you try looking at the actual photos from the 9/12 rally. Clearly there were well over 70,000 individuals who are concerned about the runaway spending in Washington, the massive debt and the corruption in Washington.

Those who were once called the "silent majority" are no longer silent. Look where it got us:
Current budget deficits of $1,000,000,000,000 (trillion)
Government debt exceeding $9 trillion
Corruption gone wild in Washington.

Re: “Noted: Rabid skunks

The fact that the best you can do, "csaction," is nothing more than childish namecalling like "LAMEborn" indicates quite plainly why the left side of the political equation in the US can't be trusted to manage anything as serious as our health care.

Re: “Noted: State's poor education ranking

I am surprised to see that there is such a small amount spent on students. One of the reasons we chose to move to Colorado was because of the test schores I discoved on CNN. I have been pleased with the school system when compared to Las Vegas, NV schools. I have a high school student and 2 middle school students in district 49.
I can not under stand why the powers that be, are so foolish when it comes to our children. They will be our leaders, where will we be if they are under educated. Our education system is so far behind other developed countries.
