Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

K- I can certainly refute your ISIS analysis with a quick Google search and a couple of HS history books. Obama squandered all the progress we made in Iraq. He completely missed the opportunity of the Iran's Green Revolution in 2009 (Thanks Valerie Jarrett). He allowed the Muslim Bros to take control in Egypt. He and Hillary stood by while terrorists in Benghazi murdered four brave Americans including our Ambassador. I could go on forever. It's all off topic. I agree with you that we should support the Kurds.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

I surmise, since you have decided to dredge up the irrelevant opinions of a second-rate politician, PacksA9, that you cannot refute my analysis.

Just for the record, neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have any clue when it comes to handling ISIS or shoring up our chimeric "victory" in Iraq. Iraq needs to be partitioned into Sunni, Shia, and Kurdish nations, and the Kurds should be allowed, if not encouraged, to annex Syrian Kurdish territory. We need to arm the Kurds to the teeth because (unlike our "partners" in Iraq, the Shiites) they will fight to the last man.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

K- According to Democrat candidate Martin O'Malley, global warming caused ISIS. O’Malley’s deputy campaign manager said "... he is proud to believe in science."

Truth (for progressives) is stranger than fiction. And sometimes funnier.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

First of all, what are you doing citing President Obama to support your case? We all know you don't give him any credit for being correct. Second, there is no contradiction between saying that the Crusades started jihadism in general, but the War in Iraq created ISIS in particular. You have to ask yourself which was the more immediate cause for the current mess, an ancient grudge against knights in shining armor, or the recent aerial bombardment of civilian villages?

And you get an F- in Reading Comprehension if you think I ever said "jihadis only started aiming for us during Bush/Cheney." Nevertheless, Bush and Cheney helped bring them out of the fringes and into the mainstream of Iraqi society with such brilliant moves as torturing prisoners of war.

As for your main point, I am in total agreement. I never meant for my remarks to be taken as a defense of pacifism. I am not a pacifist. I just think that ISIS is a poor example to trot out in defense of our military expenditures as it is a problem of our own making.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

K- You better tell Obama that. He's the one that went back 800 years when he brought up the crusades at the last Natl Prayer Breakfast.

And you get an F- in History if you think jihadis only started aiming for us during Bush/Cheney.

But my point remains intact. Expenditures on national defense are Constitutionally mandated. Just about every other federal line item is not.

Nice try, PacksA9, but you cannot divert attention away from Bush and Cheney, who are directly responsible for the rise of ISIS, by dredging up ancient history.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

Its pretty clear what the founders thought about the military. The sad part is that the more progressives grow government, the farther they move us from original intent.

Article 4, section 4 of the Constitution makes national defense the only mandatory function of the federal government. Article 1, section 8 of the Constitution lists 17 powers specifically granted to congress. Of those, six concern national defense, more than any other topic. Regardless of how suicidal pacifists may whine, national defense IS a job for the feds. The other stuff, not so much.

K- Don't kid yourself. ISIS is just the latest in a long line of jihadis we've been fighting since Jefferson and the USN kicked Barbary butt early in the 19th century. Not to mention the Crusades.

What a convincing argument, Odin! It's not just the facts you present, but the way you have marshaled them into a solid, logical analysis! You force me to counter with the only effective comeback for such a prodigious argument: Is so!

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

The ISIS high command is made up of officers driven out of the Iraqi military by our "victory" there. ISIS is the product of our ill-considered and ill-advised invasion. There would be no ISIS today had we adopted pacifist ideals from the beginning.

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

This comment is for Sulzman, Sir did u ever served in the Military? it is very obvious that u did not. I served this United States of America for 20 years and make me sick of people like you hating the well deserved Armed Forces Of the United States Of America who made a lot of sacrifices for your own freedom. It makes me wonder what are you going to do when the war will be in your own backyard?

Re: “Drones coming to Carson, plan for high-risk houses, and more

Thank you for quoting "pacifist Bill Sulzman", without offering the Military a quote also. Might I suggest that Mr. Salzman fly over to Iraq and check to see if ISIS is on board with the pacifist's ideals. Better yet, perhaps he would be willing to send his children and grand children over to "better educate" ISIS on the message of peace and toleration....

Re: “Trails and parks reopen, HUD finds deficiencies, and more

Mr. Gioia would be best served to bring up voter turnout from his demographic above 20%. If the group cannot be motivated to even complete a ballot that is mailed to them and need only be mailed back, it is folly to believe that they will have the will or the attention span to educate themselves on issues and take an active role.

Hopefully Mr. Gioia can turn that around by informing the group of what is really happening in their City--not by using race, age and gender discrimination allegations toward those who do actually vote.

Re: Pale Male Stale...

In other words, Tony Gioia is going to head up a group intending to promote race, gender and age discrimination.

Re: “Testing compromise passes, Maketa-related payouts considered, more

Testing deal reached? So what does prohibit assigning an accreditation rating (based on test scores) to school districts actually mean? Are districts not going to be evaluated at all this year?

Re: “Ute Pass to stay open, immigration enforcement ends, female cops sue, and more

"At issue is a fitness test adopted in late 2013 that wasn't adjusted for female ability or age, which resulted in them flunking the test."

...I wonder if all the violent offenders got the memo to "adjust for female ability or age".

Or, if I'm trapped in a burning car, both my life and the life of the first-responder may depend on the physical ability of that responder. I could care less if you identify as male, female, both or none; if you are less physically capable you are a liability to the public and your fellow officers.

Re: “GOP chair ousted, suit over wind farm, Springs on bike map, and more

There is an old saying, "Been down so long it looks like up to me!" We now have a new wrinkle: Been extreme right-wing so long it looks like the left to me.

Re: “GOP chair ousted, suit over wind farm, Springs on bike map, and more

What is "the Republican Right"? The Republican "liberty" wing was voted in this weekend. The liberty Republicans want better (more local control, less testing, more competition) education for our kids; don't care to legislate "morality; and support free markets and disdain corporate welfare (Dems and "Pro-business" Republicans like to tax and regulate small biz so we can hand out incentives to the crony-capitalists, and support regulation which tends to provide barriers to new competition). I do not care for "moderates" that are willing to compromise on our Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness

Re: “GOP chair ousted, suit over wind farm, Springs on bike map, and more

How sad that the Republican right wants to go even further right. That's what's wrong with this Country! They are making sure there is no room for compromise. Isn't that what most people want, is for both sides to work together? In this Country, at this time, that is NEVER going to happen. It's time we started voting more moderates from both sides into office. I've lived a long time and never seen it this bad.
