I wish Bird Dog would open up a central location!
lofty's rules... everyone is so nice; always run into people working on ideas, art projects, community projects... great new addition downtown...
Lofty's has amazing coffee and a great menu. I stop by whenever I have a chance.
My husband and I watched him build this place from nothing, saw him every day even weekends and holidays working on it fixing it up. He is a really neat artist, and a good person to know. I love having a store that cares so close. He taught my husband how to paint our daughter's room with his kind of "Happy-Art". That's what I call it. He should give classes. Maybe we can talk him into it.
We appreciate him caring about our neighborhood. He didn't have to do this. He did it because he is a good person and he wants to. Thanks!
I would like to know more about Pho-N-Thai! Sounds like a wonderful place to eat! I will be attending the Grand Opening!
We heard from the Il Postino folks earlier today: They say the restaurant will be open as of 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 17.
We enjoyed the Crepe Crusaders at a private function recently and J'aime beaucoup! The MoJo and Sweet Sensation were my favorites. The smoothie that tasted like a dreamsickle topped it all off.
Hi Rkymtngirl,
Thanks for writing. Metropolitain says they're actually closed until Sept. 1 for renovations. A liquor license should follow in November.
Thanks,
Bryce
Rkymtngirl,
Sorry to hear that. We'll try to get in touch with Blanco and Obeley, and will update the post as soon as we do.
I tried to go to lunch at the Metropolitan on Friday, 8/13. Arrived at 12:30pm and it was not open. I think your hours must be incorrect.
This is a great restaurant great food great friends great atmosphere.
Hi Sunny,
I spoke to Kimball Bayles, who says he got out of the Metropolitain around March or April. I then spoke to the new owners, Raul Blanco and Michael Obeley, who re-opened the spot about three weeks ago. They're keeping the name and going for a steak and Mexican grill concept, with late night hours on the weekends and regular weekday hours otherwise. I'll likely have more specifics for you in next week's Side Dish column.
CMB ROCKS!!! The beer and food are out of this world and the view while sitting by the firepits cannot be beat! You HAVE to try them out!!
We ate at Uchenna today. What a treat! Everything was delicious and fresh. We had lamb with ginger and chiles on the Injera (the sourdough pancake-like bread). The lemonade with rosewater was delicious, as was the iced tea with orange flower water. (There's also lasagna and spaghetti on the menu for culinary weenies.) The baklava was wonderful and very fresh.
Thanks so much for this article.
I am so happy wow that is all I can say. I was in Addis in 2006 and was invited in an ethiopian home for diner. I also had lunch or diner in Denver, Atlanta, Washington, nothing could be compared to the food I had at Uchenna in colorado spring. Amazing.
Cool thanks for opening.
I ate at Uchenna for the first time today. I had a collard greens dish with a cabbage salad on their pancake bread. It was delicious and I got half way through it and was stuffed and had to take the rest home. Looking forward to eating there again very soon!
""those who have no understanding of how business works, we know, will continue to vote for Socialists."

Deb, if your head for business is anything like your knowledge of politics, small wonder you're on the street. If Health Care Reform, where insurance companies get 32 million new customers, is socialist, Warren Buffett is Karl Marx.
Do you know who they are, Deb?
The FAC is crazy for letting GOG go!! I have ranked my meals at cafe 36 in the top 3 meals of all time in COS. All of the previous incarnations of the resturant at the FAC have not been successful including the plans they had in place for the grand opening (when the GOG stepping in at the last minute to the rescue). We'll see what happens...
Re: “Side dish”
I think I know enough at this point to say NO to whatever Il Postino comes up with.
They don't have a menu on their website, but they sure as hell have the grossly inflated wine list there for viewing. I don't believe $36 for a bottle of Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay! $36! Are they out of their minds? I can get that at Costco for $10.99 a bottle. With the $25 I save, I can go into costco and buy a great meal.
No wonder the former iteration bombed. The new one will too if prices are that high. It's a CLIP JOINT
