Just for the record, I think TCU is going to be juuust fine with the dry September heat of Colorado Springs, since I'm sure the September heat of Texas is even worse than anything they'll see in Colorado Springs.

Routon....typical of local sports writers to forget to even mention that we have a BASEBALL Team ....a PRO baseball team just one hour north of here AND that same team is vying for yet another post season run AND in dramatic and enjoyable fashion right now! Come on! At least SOME mention of this would have been nice and prudent on your part...At least the Rockies have been in contention lately..can't say the same about those Denver "Donkeys" though....

Air Force is -- hands down -- the one MWC team BYU fans would still want to play as often as possible. Here is hoping the schools can work it out.

I also agree that BYU-AFA should be continued no matter what happens with BYU and the MWC. What I do know is that BYU fans feel that Craig Thompson kneecapped BYU with stealing FSU and UNR out of the WAC and then lied through his teeth that such a decision "had nothing to do with what BYU may or may not do." Having to deal with a spiteful liar like that is not anything BYU fans are looking forward to in the future.
I know AFA has limited OOC scheduling opportunities, but I REALLY want to see BYU-AFA continue long into the future!

Nice comment, Burbank! I wholeheartedly agree. I've always appreciated the BYU v. AFA games and have the utmost respect for my favorite service academy.

Whatever happens, I hope we always preserve the Air Force-BYU rivalry. I have two sons who were Captains in the Air Force, and admire the discipline and commitment of the Academy. Thousands of BYU fans feel the same way.
I'm also looking forward to game #2 this year, knowing that the Falcons will be primed and ready to pull an upset. The Cougars better not overlook the Falcons, and I don't think they will, because I know the BYU coaches respect the Falcon coaches and players more than anyone we face.
I expect a very intelligent game plan from the Falcons, on offense and defense, to go after our untested players and attempt to expose our weaknesses.

Nobody cares what Jon Miller thinks.
Nobody can prove within a shadow of doubt if the Rockies are "cheating."
Jon Miller did a morning radio interview on the flasgship radio channel of the team whom he broadcasts. Which whom he's more than likely compensated for.
So Miller makes a comment or two that appeases the home crowd, maybe stirs a little controversy, and now you want him to apologize to the Rockies fan base?
To quote Chad Ochocinco, "Chile pleez."
Maybe you should worry more about winning in July - September.

Dude, you are the one that is completely clueless - first of all, his comments weren't part of a game - they were on KNBR-AM in San Francisco...and it wasn't all innocent like you are making it seem - that he was just trying to clear up a Cardinal’s question - he flat out called the Rockies cheaters - here is his direct quote:
"There's a feeling that the Rockies are doing something with the humidor-stored baseballs, and sometimes late in games when the Rockies need help, that some non-humidor baseballs slip into the mix. Nobody has been able to prove it. It would be interesting to see what Tony LaRussa has to say about it right now.
"The Giants felt like something was going on when they were there in that regard. … To me it's something that baseball needs to address.

Come on, that is flat out calling the Rockies cheaters WITH NO PROOF!!! Just because we got freaking HOT against the Red Sox, Cardinals and took the stupid Giants deep he thinks we must be cheating??? This really irks me because it completely discounts the talent and hard work of the team...plus makes their guys look dumb because the Giants game went extra innings and if we did switch balls why didn't they score???
Seriously, i agree with Routon - this is embarrassing to someone that was considered great...

You are a terd. IFFFFF you listened to the game, he started out by saying that the cardinal's closer had made a comment that the balls seemed weird, then went on to say that if a player is complaining, maybe MLB should step in to remove ALL doubt. That way, the runs that the rockies make would not be tarnished by "what if." You cant take his comments out of context.

Wait a minute, why don't all those same schools become the Big 12 instead of the MWC for an automatic BCS bid instead. I would think BCS status trumps the TV deal. But maybe I'm looking at this wrong?

What I would most prefer, as a MWC fan, is to get rid of schools that bring little to the table in either basketball or football - namely CSU and Wyoming - then add Boise State, KU, Baylor, K State, and Missouri. That would be a very good 12 team conference in both football and basketball.

Oh wait how about the Championship game bing rotated between Kansas City, Denver and Dallas in football and Las Vegas, Kansas City and Denver for Basketball. This would be great for the new Mountain West.
So if we don't get Baylor then it is
• North: (Air Force & New Mexico), (Wyoming & Boise State)(Utah & BYU) (Colorado & CSU)
Utah and Boise State have been in the top 10 in recent history, Colorado and BYU are solid top 25 teams in the last few years.
• South: (Kansas & K-State) (Iowa State & TCU), (UNLV & San Diego State)(SMU & Houston)
K-State and TCU have been in the top 10 several times in recent history, Kansas could build a solid program with Iowa State being respectable.
This would be a pretty stout leage demanding a lot of clout through out the country.

Let's be honest - CU is totally baggage for any conference.
Yes, they may be able to be a bit more competitive in the MWC.
As far as football and basketball are concerned, I'm just not sure what CU brings to the table. AND Lord, why does the whole world revolve around Texas?
The PAC-10 should play for Boise State and Utah. OR, what if Texas just started Conference Freedom. Maybe Bush could be the commissioner.

Yeah, I'm sure both TCU and Boise State are just QUAKING IN THEIR BOOTS at facing the Fainting Falcons! I've read some "homer" columns before in my life, but THIS one takes the cake. 12 - 1? Stop-- you're KILLING me!
