Re: “Mountain West in good spot

I sure hope the Texas schools insist on the PAC-16 taking Baylor instead of CU, mainly because I'd love to have both CSU and CU in the same conference. That would only add excitement to their annual football grudge match.

Re: “Brace yourself for Tebow

@ribo
You certainly are qualified to comment on abandonment of "critical thinking skills". Good luck to you in your hate-filled life.

Re: “Brace yourself for Tebow

Well, when you've voluntarily given up your critical thinking skills in exchange for feel-good superstition, might as well spend time with Focus.

Re: “Brace yourself for Tebow

love him or hate him, tebow is an athlete you will be hearing about for a very long time. i applaud his ethics, and his inability to be shaken from his stance. hes a helluva role model for many young athletes even without his overpowering religious stances and wont stand in the limelight without involving the rest of the team. i hope nothing but the best for this kid, beyond the scrutiny hes endured more now than in the past hes proven to be a worthy item of discussion.

Re: “Colleges: big scramble coming

The SEC conference sounds good to me if all this musical chairs happens...the SEC is close by, they already do some recruiting in Texas, the mindset it not a perfect fit but certainly closer than the Big 10/PAC 10,the TV money would increase,The SEC seems to be stable,Texas would be a real catch for the SEC, all kinds of new rivalries would be possible,Texas already borders on Arkansas and Louisiana...just seems like a match to me.

Sorry, He hated a mojority of his team.

Re: “Bodor finds home in Hawaii

@There for it all, Coach Bodor didn't have his favorites, he a majority of the team. And not every coach has his favorite, that is a terrible excuse. All that stuff you said has nothing to do with the fact that Coach Bodor treated a majority of the people he came in contact with at CC with disrespect. He could not do his job, it's hard to support someone (Bob) when they are clueless. Yes us CC players worked hard, but we had to work even harder because Coach Bodor was the least motivating person who I have ever come in contact with. He gave his years to CC but to bad they weren’t good years, most of the players who played for him dislike him. He said things to players that make Mike Leach look like a saint.

Re: “Bodor finds home in Hawaii

Bob Bodor was a dedicated as a coach as anyone you will find in D3 football. Yes he had his favorites..but every coach does. Let's remember that Coach Bodor inherited a team of 18 players, recruited 37 freshman ...and two years later posted a 5-5 season with an overtime loss.
The following year the team went 4-6, again with an overtime loss..all pretty impressive in a school that only accepts 25% of its applicants and requires all but a handful of athletes to come into college with a 3.5 HS average.
It is true that a lot of players who offered much and gave their best felt unappreciated and intimidated. For student athletes who work as hard as CC players on and off the field it feels like something is wrong....but don't underestimate what Coach Bodor gave in his years at CC...and he has the respect of many coaches in other schools who have struggled with the same lack of support from administration and alumni.

Re: “Falcons are heroes, too

Having met the Ross family when Garret was undergoing his second transplant and meeting Garrett only one week later outside the hospital, it has absolutely incredible seeing his recovery and growth over the past two years. May the Ross family continually be blessed by God. J. Collins

Re: “Falcons are heroes, too

Sounds like Garrett and the Falcons have found a crutch in the other creating an arch able to bear tremendous preassures. I think JD and his son Garrett are an inspiration to us all sent by God.

We are truly blessed to have this institution here and to experience the wonderful USAFA family of coaches, players and most importantly our inspiring future leaders and warriors.

Re: “Falcons are heroes, too

Ralph,

Thank you for this outstanding piece on the true greatness and caring by the Air Force Academy, it's athletic department, and the football program. You know I'm biased, but this shows that at the Academy, it's more than just about football or any other sports program.

"Orange, Jan. 5: Georgia Tech 33, Iowa 23. Hawkeyes haven't seen this offense."

Apparently they didn't need to.

Re: “Two tales of 3-9 coaches

Ralph, did you live in Hope, Arkansas while you were growing up?
My big brother, John Wayne, was a good friend of Ralph's uncle Johnny Anthony.
Good article.

Re: “Two tales of 3-9 coaches

Football is not simply about X's and O's. I have no doubt that Coach Hawkins is an excellent strategist when it comes to playing the game of football. But, one also must be an incredible motivator or student athletes when it comes to coaching at the collegiate level. The 2009 version of the Colorado football team seemed "flat" more often than not. You can not compete against teams like Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Colorado State, etc. and expect to win on the game plan alone. Teams must be fired up and biting at the bit to get out on the field and play such quality opponents. What Colorado needs is a coach who can work the X's and O's like Hawkins and a coach who can motivate like a Rick Neuheisel. Even though I did not care for his antics, Neuheisel always had his teams ready to play on any given Saturday. Hawkins may be a good man and a good strategist but giving him another year at CU is like finding another bandage to cover up that gash on the Titanic.

Re: “AFA's springboard to 2010?

As a BYU fan I must say I lave watching the Falcons play. I love your NEVER QUIT attitude. Good luck on Saturday and God bless for what you do for our country. You guys are the ONLY other MWC team that I really cheer for. I wish you could have beaten those godless Utes.

Go Falcons and make it a good one Saturday. (but not too close)

Re: “Tigers raising their profile

You are an idiot for suggesting the Red Sox would trade one of the best five closers in baseball for Garrett Atkins, who hit a staggering .225 with 9 homers this year.

Re: “Bodor finds home in Hawaii

I agree with the first comment. As a former player of Coach Bodor I felt that he was very very disrespectful and he had no clue on how to run a football program. I know that most of the CC football team felt this way as well.

Re: “Bodor finds home in Hawaii

Bob Bodor ran that program into the ground. He couldn't coach any where here in the states cause everyone dislikes him. He got what he deserved.

Re: “Broncos' mystery will end at 8-8

I made my sweeping judgement when a 32 year old rookie coach p-o'd the number one quarterback in the league. 8-8 would be heaven. How 'bout 2-14?
