Re: “Flatt's fate: mistreated by many

So Nagasu 'bombed' at U.S. Nationals. Many feel Rachael was once again HELD UP by the U.S. judges there, giving her unrealistic scores that she could only dream of in international competition. Nagasu has placed ahead of Flatt at every one of their senior international meetings-7th at Worlds last year to Rachael's 9th (who skated her best versus Nagasu who made mistakes and STILL outranked Flatt), 3rd at the recent Four Continents, her first senior medal, a bronze while Flatt is once again kept off the podium. And at the tallest mountain of all Mirai placed 4th at her first major international to Rachael's 7th. See where I'm getting at? A HEALTHY Mirai likely would have placed well enough to get that 3rd spot for Team USA. Flatt violated the rules to a contract she signed. I don't see your problem with that, and also I don't appreciate that you seem to imply that from no on ALL skaters in the U.S. will be dishonest about their injuries due to this incident. I call BS. Thus far, most have seemed forthcoming. I.E. Ryan Bradley and Evan Lysacek who both reported their injuries and indeed Evan did so in time to give the team alternate-Rachael Flatt's coache's skater-the chance to compete at Worlds.

Re: “Buckeyes should skip 2011

LOL. I surely hoped you enjoyed your five minutes of fame becoming one of the many critics and bashers of Ohio State Football; and there are more than enough already. Truth is OSU wins, and selling and lying didn't assist that. Other schools with their talent simply didn't beat OSU's talent. Cheating was not involved, but violations with compliance did occur, hence the current situation. The posts by both osunut and MD fan above nailed it on the head; your knowledge of football leaves much to be desired. Consider that your suggestion of shutting down the season affects every school on OSU's schedule, including the Buffaloes. Colorado needs this game more than OSU does, and don't you think that every team they play now will want to give "extra" and attempt in vain to hand the Buckeyes a loss, in light of everything that has happened?

Re: “Buckeyes should skip 2011

Ralph, I'm embarrassed for you. Others have already provided the reasons, expressing them eloquently. Enough said.

Re: “Buckeyes should skip 2011

Ralph, Ralph, Ralph. You have very little perspective and should write about something you know. College football is big business and none of the major universities are above reproach. OSU just got caught in a pickle and handled it poorly. Billion dollar industires tend to have this affect. Think the the SEC schools are laughing their ass off becasue the naive midwest coach got caught? I'm sure they are laughing because they are all just better at working around the NCAA rules.

Re: “Buckeyes should skip 2011

Sir, your commentary should be limited to what you know, and that is obviously not college football or more specifically what is going on at OSU. "Yet, these days" Woody Hayes was fired 33 years ago. "Yet these days", the man has been dead for 24 years, let him RIP. Skip 2011 season? You do understand there are 113 football players on the OSU football roster? Lets burn a year of eligibility, and punish the other 108 players for the actions of 6 or 7 counting Tressel? How about the countless other sports that are supported by the football program? OSU has one of the highest number of women sports in the country. How do you think those programs obtain their funding? Hiring a new coach and disrupting another team right before the start of preseason work outs? Did you not catch the mention by OSU when they announced the firing of Tressel (lets call it what it is), that they appointed Fickle Interim Head Coach for all of 2011, and would not begin search for new coach until after the 2011 season? No coach of any caliber, or in their right mind would consider the OSU job until the NCAA announces sanctions. Skipping the 2011 season is not a full blown NCAA death sentence? That is just an ignorant statement, no explanation needed. I will give you Gee based solely on fact he can not keep his mouth shut and make an appropriate statement, i.e.- I just hope Coach doesn’t fire me....…,Sisters of the poor.........etc. I get the point you were “trying“ to make, and I am not going to defend OSU or Tressel. They will get hammered by NCAA, and justifiably so. If you are going to participate in the bash OSU band wagon because you have some sort of higher moral compass, or more accurately the fact they are on your schedule next year, at least use relevant, accurate supporting data for your commentary. Lets be realistic for a second. The Buffalos will likely leave Columbus with a loss this fall. Tressel, and the tattoo 5 or 6 will not be apart of that game. Please don’t fabricate facts or use irrelevant commentary to support the reason why…….

Re: “NCAA: No thrills in Boulder

I agree CU should have been selected for the tournament, one of the biggest "snubs" I can remember. But how about Colorado's ONLY team to make the dance? The U Northern CO Bears are making their first appearance in the NCAA tourney and I'm surprised you failed to mention that fact anywhere in your column; especially due to the fact Tad Boyle was their head coach last year. I have no loyalties to either team, but today I'm a UNC fan.

Hmmmm...have you considered playing at 7,000 feet...that might have an affect.

Re: “Rugged road for Falcons

Yeah, I'm sure both TCU and Boise State are just QUAKING IN THEIR BOOTS at facing the Fainting Falcons! I've read some "homer" columns before in my life, but THIS one takes the cake. 12 - 1? Stop-- you're KILLING me!

Re: “Rugged road for Falcons

"Especially at Air Force, where the dry September heat can wear down unsuspecting opponents."

Just for the record, I think TCU is going to be juuust fine with the dry September heat of Colorado Springs, since I'm sure the September heat of Texas is even worse than anything they'll see in Colorado Springs.

Re: “The forgotten Olympians of 1980

How can I get a list of the 1980 summer Olympic team members. My wife's cousin made the team as an alternate on the 4 x 100 men's relay. His name was Herb Johnson.
How can I get a list of team members

Re: “Making the rounds

Routon....typical of local sports writers to forget to even mention that we have a BASEBALL Team ....a PRO baseball team just one hour north of here AND that same team is vying for yet another post season run AND in dramatic and enjoyable fashion right now! Come on! At least SOME mention of this would have been nice and prudent on your part...At least the Rockies have been in contention lately..can't say the same about those Denver "Donkeys" though....

Re: “AFA dreams of a miracle

haha. Good luck. Those Oklahoma boys are going to crush the Chair Force kiddos, this coming from a Texas fan. It's just the facts.

Re: “AFA-BYU worth saving

Air Force is -- hands down -- the one MWC team BYU fans would still want to play as often as possible. Here is hoping the schools can work it out.

Re: “AFA-BYU worth saving

I also agree that BYU-AFA should be continued no matter what happens with BYU and the MWC. What I do know is that BYU fans feel that Craig Thompson kneecapped BYU with stealing FSU and UNR out of the WAC and then lied through his teeth that such a decision "had nothing to do with what BYU may or may not do." Having to deal with a spiteful liar like that is not anything BYU fans are looking forward to in the future.

I know AFA has limited OOC scheduling opportunities, but I REALLY want to see BYU-AFA continue long into the future!

Re: “AFA-BYU worth saving

Nice comment, Burbank! I wholeheartedly agree. I've always appreciated the BYU v. AFA games and have the utmost respect for my favorite service academy.

LaVell is right . . . "they've always done it the right way." I hope this series continues.

Re: “AFA-BYU worth saving

Whatever happens, I hope we always preserve the Air Force-BYU rivalry. I have two sons who were Captains in the Air Force, and admire the discipline and commitment of the Academy. Thousands of BYU fans feel the same way.

I'm also looking forward to game #2 this year, knowing that the Falcons will be primed and ready to pull an upset. The Cougars better not overlook the Falcons, and I don't think they will, because I know the BYU coaches respect the Falcon coaches and players more than anyone we face.

I expect a very intelligent game plan from the Falcons, on offense and defense, to go after our untested players and attempt to expose our weaknesses.

Re: “Brace yourself for Tebow

Focus On The Family is a hate filled organization that targets, jews, gays and workers at women's health clinics.Don't be fooled by the thin veil they hide behind, the rights of their female worshipers are suppressed and the founder of FOTF,Dr James Dobson,is a retired child phsyciatrist that advocated child beating as punishment(Denver Post article).Just before Christmas in 2009 FOTF laid off 1,100 ministry workers then paid $2.5 million for the Superbowl ad featuring Tim Tebow and his mother in Febuary of 2010.Please do not support Focus On The Family.

Re: “Shame on a media star

jon miller hates you too

since we dont have bonds anymore, the giants are lovable

so miller decided to change that

and it is well known that the rockies cheat

i know for a fact that the ball girls slip in non humidified balls into late innings when the team is behind

and i will be posting the vid on youtube

Re: “Shame on a media star

So Ralph, did video kill your media star?

Nobody cares what you think.

Nobody cares what Jon Miller thinks.

Nobody can prove within a shadow of doubt if the Rockies are "cheating."

Jon Miller did a morning radio interview on the flasgship radio channel of the team whom he broadcasts. Which whom he's more than likely compensated for.

So Miller makes a comment or two that appeases the home crowd, maybe stirs a little controversy, and now you want him to apologize to the Rockies fan base?

To quote Chad Ochocinco, "Chile pleez."

Maybe you should worry more about winning in July - September.
