Re: “Lamborn's big incline bill

"Seems while other lawmakers focused on silly things like the economy ..."
Tell me Rich, when you stated the above, did you mean that lawmakers are focused on ruining the economy? Did you mean they are focused on helping Obama run the debt so high that it could never be payed? In your twisted, liberal mind, if Obama gives everything to everyone, how is that good for the economy? Do you even know what the "economy" means? Do you even care? Do you believe, as most liberals do, that if you simply close your eyes and sing Kumbayah, the good fairy will sweep down and fix everything?

Do you have proof of that or are you simply spouting off, casting aspersions and spreading lies?

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

"Flakes testified that he drove the car, stopping it because Grant said he wanted to get out and shoot the two boys."

Get your facts straight Rich! Flakes never testified in either trial. Grant drove around "for over an hour" wanting to shoot someone "to get something off his chest". Flakes was the passenger. Flakes knew for over an hour what Grant was going to do and wanted to be a part in this Evil. They passed the boys, turned the car around, switch seats, Grant loaded 3 shotgun shells in the gun and Flakes drove up on the boys ambush style. Grant got out and Murdered for no reason. They were trolling those side streets for "over an hour"and canoe creek drive is nowhere near "on their way home". Flakes convienantly forgets and downplays his role in this. How can we forgive a person that has lied numerous times and continues to hurt people with his self serving agenda! Flakes has testified and speaks to help juveniles get softer sentences that commit adult crimes and speaks as if he was wronged in some way. He and his friend grant should be in a cell for life for what they did. This paper, the NAACP and some city officials have sank to a new low!!!

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

Flakes forgets that when Grant drove past the boys, stopped the car, switched seats and grant loaded 3 shotgun rounds in the shotgun. Flakes also forgets he drove up on the boys ambush style so Grant could get out of the car and kill. This was a 25 days unsolved crime and when that crimestoppers tip sent the police to Flakes home, he denied any knowledge of anything. Also, Karina states she "is in fear for her safety", last i heard, it was Flakes and Grant that murdered in cold blood execution style and dragged those poor families through hell. If Karina is "in fear for her safety", she needs to look at the Evil she's sleeping with! If he/she thinks of him as a "leader", they should realize they are putting more pain on the community and more importantly the survivors of the innocent boys he helped kill. I know family members that said they "cannot find it in their heart to ever forgive flakes or grant". They will meet their maker someday and will really be punished. As for now, go away flakes, you are a disgusting excuse of a human being!

Re: “The way of the gun

For those of you arguing we should be reduced to muskets because the US Constitution and their amendments are outdated I ask you to consider some other simple facts; there were no modern day printing presses, or radio, or television, or Internet back then either and we still have protected free speech.

We are armed to stop a fraudulent Marxist government. It is for this reason we are allowed to have such weaponry. If you elect to take such capability from us; we must pursue a Revolution to stop you.

Re: “The way of the gun

You are not taking our guns... you can't find Barry Obama's birth certificate or stop the daily murders in Chicago. Work on those issues first.

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

The interesting aspect of this is that the liberals are all so eager to control guns, that they have forgotten both the presenting problem and have failed to solve the problem.

None of the things proposed would have stopped any of the recent killings...

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

Also, on another note "the pro-gun nut editorial-page boss at the Gazette" does not support shotgun murderer for office. Anti-gun nut editorialist at the Independent does support shotgun murderer for office. I suppose that makes perfest sense, to these readers, anyway.

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

Hey...give Gary a break...this is what all the people do who can't otherwise qualify for work.

Take a look at all our elected officials in this town. They are all people who do this sort elected work in lieu of real work for which they are not qualified...they need these jobs.

Because they are nice, they can charm us into voting for them, and then they screw up the city like they did the last company for which they worked.

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

PATHETIC!!!! Flakes needs his wife to speak for him. Flakes needs to man up and take responsibility. As the comments posted here saying the gun went off by itself. Flakes has not spoke the truth. When he took a polygragh test, and asked if he was the shooter it showed he was being deceptive. Flakes also told the police that he wasn't driving, and he was only a passenger. Flakes story is all full of lies. Flakes' wife says he is looking for forgiveness. Forgiveness starts with the truth. Not blaming the murders on the gun or Jeron Grant. Someone pulled the trigger!

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

Of course no one pulled the trigger. This is Ranger/Disney land where inanimate objects get up and dance around singing "be our guest, be our guest, we're gonna shoot you in the chest". You see it's the shotguns fault. The shotgun was the murderer here. Not those two poor innocent "urban" youths. Tell me Rich, if Flakes were white, would you have the same opinion? Of course you wouldn't, it's all about race when your a racist.

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

In your column of December 19th you laid the horrific murders at Sandy Hook at the feet of gun owners and their supporters. Yet here you give one of the participants in a firearms killing that was just as senseless and evil a full pass.

Gary Flakes has not yet reached out to the families of Andrew Westbay and Scott Hawrysiak, and was not apparently planning to until asked about it by the "pro-gun nut" Gazette. The first act of someone seeking forgiveness would be to do that one simple thing. You don't mention those families either I noticed, and yet on the 19th you wrote "And think of their parents. Not one will ever come all the way back."

It may be that Gary Flakes is seeking redemption for his actions on that bloody day. But seeking redemption does not qualify a person for public office. And by trying to reform the reputation of a man convicted in the deaths of their children in order to promote his campaign, you have undoubtedly added to the pain of their loss. Perhaps you should spend some time looking in the mirror yourself Mr. Tosches.

Re: “Different look at Gary Flakes

Rich, another thought provoking column. Good work! I am glad that Mr. Flakes has devoted himself to working on issues impacting today's youth but I admit to ambivalence about him as a candidate.

Re: “Aging along with Aerosmith

I loved this article ! We all have our great Hopedale memories and don't forget that my brother David was the drummer for Aerosmith at the time! (before Joey Kramer). I ought to know because I helped my brother lug his drums onto the stage for setup and with the help of my BFF at the time Kathy Weaver. We even spent time back stage feeding Steve Tyler water between breaks! Our hands shook so much passing him the cup of water. What a riot! Thanks for keeping this one close to us all. David stays in touch with them and
he is written about in one of their books. My kids love hearing about it, too.

That was fun to read. My sons just shake their heads when I tell them Joe Perry grew up in my home town, his sister was in my class and his mother was the gym teacher.
