As a City employee in the 80 's and 90's, I found his barbs, satirical reviews, and highlighting of our foibles thought provoking and often hilarious. It kept me from taking things too seriously. I truly will miss his community commentary. Good luck,Susie and Rich, in this next chapter.
Fond memories of reading Rich's Gazette articles and blowing coffee out my nose into my breakfast cereal. The gin and tonic nose wash as I read the Indy in the evening is not so fond but memorable. Yep, will really miss the Ranger...
Don't forget, A-dub started with FILTH INDUSTRY in 1998!! As the singer, I can say that we had a great time together, and definitely miss those days! You are loved, and will be missed, A-dub. Thanks for all the memories.
teabaggerville has run off another one. humor is a great way to make a point... even if the faux newsers don't get it. good luck Rich.
"...nobody in the Colorado Springs media has made more people laugh, more people angry and more people offended."
Amen to that. A true sign of someone who had mastered his craft.
I will miss his columns here in the Indy (once every few weeks in the Denver Post isn't enough).
I hate to see him go. He's been a Colorado Springs institution.
Rich, here's wishing you the best of luck. Have fun, man.
Kewl. More critters for the mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, and even the occasional bear to eat. As if people's dogs and cats and outdoor garbage bins aren't a big enough attraction, let's add some deeelish goat meat to the menu.
We go to the Georgetown location quite often, the rellenos are a absolute work of art and so delicious, really glad to have them closer to home, the dedication to their product is very obvious from the taste of freshness and quality I find in everything I have ever had from them. Thanks for opening up and my family and I will see you soon and often! :)
Maybe it's all of the pot holes in the way that are keeping them from better response times- LOL!
Even though I left the Springs a couple of years ago, I kept up by relying upon the readings of Mr. Tosches' finger on the prostate of the city. Thanks Mr. Routon for this update, and thanks to him for making us laugh for so long.
Coincidentally, before I turned to this morning's Indy updates, I was looking at a MoJo article from yesterday entitled 'Nobody Cares What You Think Unless You're Rich'.
Yeah. Best of luck Rich.
Wonder how much urban sprawl contributes to these response times? It now takes 40 minutes to drive from one side of the city to the other.
Thanks Ralph! He will be missed by lots of folks.
Ranger Rich will certainly be missed by me. Thanks for sharing this.
Ms. Collins should request the CSPD to institute "Stop and Frisk" in her district.
It worked to reduce crime for Mayor Bloomberg.
Jill has no idea what she is talking about. She's trying to gain a following of the urban farming peoples and help push Monyckas lil goat project. Want goats, go live on a farm. Jill, you are a waste of a chair on City Council. Colorado Springs has serious problems like stormwater and City of Champions being pushed down for taxpayers to pay. Grow up and do the job you were given by Bach and his City Clerk.
How much money has been paid in law suits and law advice since Mayor dictator has been in office the last 4 years?
Who cares what a CRIMINAL like Doug Bruce says....
What, goats are OK, but not jackasses? You can't make this stuff up!
Very interesting on Rev. Phelps: In May 1946, at the age of 16, Phelps graduated from high school and was admitted to United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. Phelps however claims that after attending a Methodist revival meeting decided to become a minister and chose not to attend West Point. Phelps attended Bob Jones University, for two years (1946-1948) before dropping out. He cited racial issues as the reason for his departure; in 1994 former college employees told the Topeka Capital Journal that Phelps left after being given an ultimatum that he either seek psychiatric counselling or be expelled.[
Fred Phelps preached his final Sunday sermon on September 1, 2013. Five weeks later, sermons resumed from various members.
On March 15, 2014, Nathan Phelps, an estranged son of Fred Phelps Sr., reported that Fred Phelps was in very poor health and receiving hospice care. Nathan said that Phelps had been excommunicated from the church in August 2013, and then moved into a house where he "basically stopped eating and drinking".
Phelps died of natural causes on March 19, 2014, shortly before midnight. Phelps' daughter Shirley stated that a funeral for her father will not be held because Westboro does not "worship the dead". The Recovering From Religion organization released a statement on behalf of Nathan (who is on their board of directors) about his father's death.
LMAO!!! WESTBORO CHURCH TURNED AWAY FROM PROTEST BY TOWN IN OK http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1117505?hp…
