Re: “Populism, belonging and inside jokes at Trump's reality show rally

A good read.
Makes one think about some of the terms and has a few insights like some truly just believe they are doing better. Likewise some of think the sky is falling although not much has changed other than the increased embarrassment level of citizens toward government.

It is tough to understand that so many refuse to cast their ballot.

Re: “Reader: A tale of two daughters

The actual title of the piece was "Who gets healthcare in the United States?... A tale of two daughters. The point was about putting a face to the health debate where millions on Medicaid will lose coverage. The Indy did not include the complete title which possibly leads to your question. Barbara Day

There is a homeless person leaving there trash and sleeping in my guest house can I change the locks and lock the gate. He/she was not invited to live there. Do I have to call the police or can I just lock the gate and change locks?

WW III huh? Really? How about fight for your sanity which has taken a vacation. If you are worried about your health and everybody else' then stop stressing yourself and spreading it. If you have children then please shut up and do not feed them your fears, it would be child abuse.

Re: “UPDATE: John Suthers on short list to replace Comey as FBI director

It is weird that Suthers name only appears here as being on the short list.
No other published short list has his name. This sounds more like Gardner wanting Suthers to think he is assisting in his career for favors down the road.

Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

Any time religion has mixed into laws governing a civilization, we have seen the eventual destruction of the rights of the individual that was proportionately equal to the power gathered by the clergy. That is why the men who wrote the Constitution were so leery of allowing religion any power into the government while they knew that the government itself must stay out of religious affairs. Read the works and letters of the Founding Fathers to understand what they intended, not what David Barton or some other religious leader tells you they said.

Re: “UPDATE: John Suthers on short list to replace Comey as FBI director

You do know that prior to being Mayor of our "Victorian Age" town, John Suthers was the Attorney General of Colorado for 10 years, U.S. Attorney for Colorado and Fourth Judicial District Attorney? There is no way Trump will see a benefit in hiring Suthers. I believe Suthers is honest and forthright will not pledge loyalty to Trump.

Re: “New trail and Intemann Trail re-route in Section 16 and Red Rocks Canyon

All of the cyclists and runners with whom I've spoken are upset over the new sanitized sections of Intemann Trail. The technically challenging sections that some cyclists had to carry their bikes over are what made Intemann Trail special. Why dumb it down when there are plenty of easier trails for those who prefer them in the area?

Re: “UPDATE: John Suthers on short list to replace Comey as FBI director

Mr. Suthers seems particularly well suited to be Mayor of a Victorian Age town - and even though he comes highly recommended by Gardner, would the real world outside of Colorado really find Mr. Suthers as a good fit to play on the National stage?

The President of Council takes over as Mayor with the departure of a sitting Mayor; great wisdom seemed to be in play with council not selecting Mrs. Gaebler to serve as President of Council and thus be first in line to assume a position that takes emotional stability to be effective.

Re: “Reader: Mr. Lamborn, this downright cruel and unjust

I also remember President Obama's visit to our community after the Waldo Canyon Fire and the hypocrisy of our "Tar Baby" Representative Lamborn who never missed a photo op or refused Federal Grant money. Our conservative representative was first in line to greet President Obama when he got off Air Force One - with his hand out and a huge smile on his face. I laughed out loud at the incongruity of that optic. Lamborn standing next to President Obama with a huge smile on his face.

Honestly do you think he cares what we think of him? Do you think he cares if he screws the poor, the down trodden or even the working class? I bet he dont lose a bit of sleep as long as his money men keep sending in them check for his reelection.

Re: “Reader: Mr. Lamborn, this downright cruel and unjust

Well said! It seems to me that I remember a day after Waldo Canyon burned when Barak Obama took the time to come to see the damage and offer help. He has done nothing but be everything we want a president to be and in return from you all we get is partisan rhetoric and mean spirited comments that neither elevate discussion nor help in any fashion to bring us together as a nation. You are a pathetic excuse for a representative. I can't wait to see you out of Congress.

Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

So much for Separation of Church and State. Does that mean people will be forced to switch Churches if they don't like the political candidate that their minister says they should? No one goes to Church to hear politics. That should be the one place that remains neutral. I'd get up and walk out if the head of some Church tried to tell me who to vote for!

Re: “UPDATE: Tiny House Jamboree to leave Colorado Springs

Not happy about this since we already bought non-refundable air tickets, non-refundable hotel. and took vacation time off. Why they couldn't have gone ahead with this years, and then made the big changes for next year. This is just to close to the event to cancel it and they sounded so gleeful about it. SUCKS!

Re: “Old St. Francis Hospital assessed value soars from $50,000 to $2 million following report

How to stop the developers from creating a system (such as the DDA) to benefit themselves and then milking that system? The City Council has the power to say No to the developers. Is educating the City Council the answer? Is that doable when the Council doesn't listen to the citizens, because, supposedly, the citizens are not experts (as opposed to the City govt bureaucrats who are experts) and the citizens don't know (probably because much of the process is kept secret) or understand what's involved in the very complex and complicated economic development proposal under consideration. And, ultimately, it is the Council, which has been elected by the citizens to decide on these matters, supposedly for the benefit of the citizens, who are empowered to make the decisions which benefit, not surprisingly, the developer. So . . . how to keep the foxes out of the henhouse?

And thanks to Miller for his excellent and knowledgeable analysis and commentary.
