Re: “Parkside residents get handed the bill for repairs

Indy didn't publish my first comment.... I live in one of the few homes in Parkside that didn't burn thanks to the brave firefighters. I'm really disturbed that the unpaid, hardworking board members are now catching flack from a 'journalist' that hasn't done her homework. I have been privy to a lot of the discussions and the numbers are open for the community to see. Our insurance agent told us NO HOA that he insures has insurance on the underground components of any system. We could have gotten insurance and paid more in premiums over the last 25 years than it will take to replace the system. The drainage was destroyed by the demolition and debris removal. Curbs, street and gutters were damaged by homeowner's contractors in rebuild and the ass'n is looking to recapture those costs from each individual lot owner. But at the moment it behooves us to get on with life as rapidly as possible . It is not constructive of you few that don't like what's going on to be so negative....we are trying our very best in a terrible painful situation to put our lives back together. If you wish to add constructive input feel free to join our bi-monthly meetings or attend Board meetings. They are open to everyone in the community.

Re: “Mayor Bach: Recreational marijuana is 'public-safety issue'

"Gateway" drug -- really? For a majority of people the primary gateway drugs are ALCOHOL and PRESCRIPTION drugs from parent's liquor and medicine cabinets. Methinks someone watched "Reefer Madness" too many times! I really don't understand what these people (Mayor Bach, Dan May, John Suthers, lol, and even TejonTech, etc) are sooooooo afraid of with legalized marijuana use and sale??? I'd rather see alcohol prohibition come back and leave marijuana alone. It's much safer to the population!

I'm only quoting the Gazette and other journalists. I didn't personally witness or research the Cripple Creek fire, but thanks for the heads up.

Re: “Parkside residents get handed the bill for repairs

"Most catastrophic fire in Colorado history." WTF?? Do some research on the Cripple Creek fire of 1896. Compare the cost of buildings back then to those of today. Waldo Canyon was nothing, comparatively speaking.

Re: “Parkside residents get handed the bill for repairs

as a homeowner in an HOA controlled community, this is a good reminder to me that we need to ensure our HOA is carrying out their role. Thanks for a good update, Pam. You've done a service to all of us with this article.

Re: “Colorado Springs joins the Waldorf-charter wave

how VERY awesome for parents in this community to have another choice for their children! Kudos to this group of parents and educators for coming together and I wish them the best of luck!

he wants to make a straw man out of Marijuana, to distract people from all the money he has wasted paying off people with golden parachutes.

Re: “So sue me, Bach says

The Mayor has no trouble trying to "change" the charter without a vote from the public when it is giving himself and his administration more power. The charter does need to be reviewed and revised by an independent citizen committee and not one hand selected by Mr. Bach. This should have been thought out and then voted on prior to the Council-Mayor form of government was ever allowed to be put in motion. Wasn't he also against a ballot issue on the last election asking if the City Attorney should be an elected position? So he actively is against anything which may limit his power grab.

Re: “City Council looks to lawyer up

"I warned people..." gosh darn it crank, if we would only listen to you...
The funniest comment of the month comes from crank himself, "...there's something smelly going on down there...". Have you figured it out yet old dude?

Re: “Praise for pastry guy and the critic, and a pet-poop plea

Well golly staci, your "give and take" appears to be directing folks to a highly politicized web site or two. So where is your "expression"? You didn't "encourage lively debate" and it was only a "subject of interest" to you and yours. I certainly didn't "discourage opposing views" because you offered none. All you offered was SPAM.
And thanks for the advice. I generally disregard your posts as pablum.

Re: “Mayor Bach: Recreational marijuana is 'public-safety issue'

primary employers? and the 86 locally owned and operated medical marijuana centers? they don't count? 86 leases, plus over 140 leased grow operations, that is almost 300 local leases, insurance contracts, hundreds of local jobs, security contracts, packaging, labeling contracts, transportation contracts, and so much more. Bach continues to use the same old tired lies that have been used for over 90 years. For what? Public safety? I'm not sure, but in the last 3 years, I have yet to see 1 single case where a child walked into a marijuana center and purchased cannabis. Let's hope that the city council stands up to this mockery of democracy as proposed by Bach.

The Indy couldn't find ONE single photograph of this Unique art and artist to grace the article with, so as to help familiarize the reader with what you are talking about, and possibly stir up interest in the Show, the Artist, the ART?????

Heaven forbid one might use VISUALS for an article regarding VISUAL ART....Dur.

Re: “Homelessness solution: Welcome to Bachville

A ten minute drive from downtown puts you over in the S.E. area of town, like that choice area near S. Academy and Platte.

Maybe Botch can re-use the vacated Wasson High School, yeah, that's the ticket, use the now empty classrooms for re-training the homeless. Get Melcher on that pronto...

Re: “Mayor Bach: Recreational marijuana is 'public-safety issue'

Allencos,

there are reports as studies stating that cannabis is actually a reverse gateway drug, with users less likely to go on (or continue) using 'harder' drugs.

Google is your friend - and remember;

Opinions don't change facts, but facts should change opinions
