Sometime in the recent past the definition of belief changed. It used to mean acceptance of statements that could not be proven. That has been softened by the cacophony of disagreement from 'believers'. Dad96, you can preach all you want to, but keep it out of my life, my military, my government. It's your business, not mine. Your religion has warts and blemishes like all others - you choose to ignore them. You are in a 'state of bliss' obviously, so nothing anyone can say will change that. I sincerely hope you live your life as you preach - but I get the feeling that you have limitations regarding people who are not like you. If there is a god - and I don't subscribe to that philosophy, then why would he want his creations to choose what religion they would be? Are we not all created equal under his eyes?
Carolyn, you have it exactly right. Colorado Springs has been the focus (pun intended) of the religious right for years. When a middle schooler can stand up in a public school waving a Bible and say that it is the only book he needs it smacks of propagandistic indoctrination at the most insidious level. The religious right spent years trying to compromise the Constitutional edict of separation of church and state by compromising the Air Force Academy. Thankfully, they have failed, but not before doing some significant damage within the ranks of the Air Force. It's a shame.
My father, a career Air Force fighter pilot, said that he felt the military, especially career military, should NOT be allowed to vote. His reasoning was that the military would vote for more wars and more military/industrial complex - job security, so to speak. I disagreed with him at the time, but then the Air Force general (who now supports Trump) said that the war in Iraq (started on false pretenses from the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld cabal) was the new "Crusade" and intimated it was the beginning of a religious war. We don't need his vote in our democracy, nor do we need the votes of anyone like him.
Just a reminder - T.Rump will only accept the results of the election "If I win". Very dangerous.
Tannim, you sound more and more like a 'sovereign citizen'...I'm still identifying as an American.
Janet, I support your right to choose how you die. All other opinions are based on mythology.
hippyhelper, all I made was an observation based on experience - and I said I would be surprised if he didn't test positive. My observations were of a runny nose, of someone trying to clear something from his soft palate area without success, his inability to be calm and still, his lack of control over his impulsive remarks and facial expressions and his dry mouth syndrome, again exhibited last night. I did at no time say that Donald Trump was using cocaine - what I said was that he had the appearance of using cocaine. And I wanted a drug test for both of them.
Spare me the kick back of my own words if you didn't understand them in the first place.
Trump has gotten where he's gotten by insidious innuendo without much in the way of facts to back them up.
Joel, I had a bit of respect for you until that rant. Baseless BS. If you're waiting for judgement day I feel sorry for you - apparently your "life's work" has been to crow abut the wonders of TABOR. Say howdy to Grover Norquist for me. This election is going to be a complete rout. You can vote for that phony if you want to, and you can continue to spout anti-Hillary garbage, but I see you as a subscriber to the new T.Rump TV channel, and marching right along with the rest of the Steve Bannon brownshirts dragging our democracy down. I guess it's to be expected in 'somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun' Colorado Springs. I would be more than happy to reveal myself to you, but that negates the purpose of this venue. I have no desire to run for office, and judging from your experience you probably won't be doing so again, either.
If you admire this man, if you support his specious claims about making America great again by returning to trickle down economics (didn't work the first time, won't work this time), tax breaks for the rich and driving our international bus into the ditch again after we just barely got some traction after the Bush/Cheney disaster, then by all means enthusiastically support him...and question our democratic method of choosing leaders and the time-honored, democratic tradition of accepting the results of the fairest election system in the world. If you support him you undermine our system and have no business in public office ever again.
And what have you actually done for us lately, Glenn?
Your opponent has done much to cross party lines and to actually get needed bills past to help Colorado farmers and such, but your GOP fellows in Congress are the ones not to do anything, so your ad is basically blasting your own party, dude. LMAO!!!
If drivers and cyclists alike would obey the traffic laws, this discussion would be unnecessary. Whether it's motorists who speed and tailgate, or try to turn while talking on the phone, or cyclists who are all over the road, the real problem is people who think the rules do not apply to them. Research Parkway is one of many examples -- try driving W. Woodman Road at rush hour between these two competing forces. You arrive relieved to be alive.
Colorado is a bike friendly state where we have minimum clearance laws and miles of dedicated bike trails. 6 lanes on Research serves the interests of cyclists and cars alike. The speeding issue will be solved if our city saw fit to time traffic lights to reduce the number of stops (while increasing fuel effeincicy). Give us back our 6 lanes... refocus on street repairs and launch an effort to get I-25 up to 6 lanes between Colorado's two largest cities.
Voting online was difficult because of the geographical identifiers.
I'm stoked about the Islamic perspective in the religious part. Hating whiskey and porn makes sense if I was a hater.
Julie Endicott for HD20 was your natural choice, Independent. Shame on you for endorsing a dangerous anti-choice candidate who will threaten women's rights to the full spectrum of healthcare we should have access to.
The above picture does not reflect Research Pkwy. If creating traffic/congestion is progress, we are in a deep hole. I drive Research at least four times a day and since these new lanes, I have counted more accidents than bicycles. Creating these lanes is not progress. We need to face our reality, we are growing and we need more lanes to move cars, not the other way around.
so, as it appears, The White P€nis Party has become the party of the L!mp Dicks. How impotent. And yes, I DID have to go there.
After 9 years in marriage with my hubby with 3 kids, my husband started going out with other ladies and showed me cold love, on several occasions he threatens to divorce me if I dare question him about his affair with other ladies, I was totally devastated and confused until a old friend of mine told me about a spell caster on the internet Dr. Ekpiku who help people with the relationship and marriage problem by the powers of love spells, at first I doubted if such thing ever exists but decided to give it a try, when I contact him, he helped me cast a spell and within 24 hours my husband came back to me and started apologizing, now he has stooped going out with ladies and he his with me for good and for real. Contact this great spell caster for your relationship or marriage problem at: Ekpikuspelltemple@live.com. Good luck.or text me on +13103598621.
Hmm. Never hear anything about the cause of Waldo or Black Forest, do we. Someone said Waldo was a Fed pot burn. Someone said.😏
Go to Caseys Sawmill / Lumber yard @ 10 miles north of Woodland Park on hi way 67. Awesome!
If you are "glad" now, Mr. Miller, you must have been ecstatic when you ran for office, to have hundreds of anonymous citizens judging you!
Agree with C Wilk and Ralph Jacobson above. Indy's endorsement of Terri Carver over Julia Endicott for HD20 looks like a "phone-it-in" job that didn't bother to investigate Carver's positions on several major issues that affect services in our west-side district.
As mentioned, Carver is against Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood, so she'll vote to defund PP in favor of regional health centers that don't offer abortion services. That will seriously threaten PP with potential closure--denying more than 8,000 people medical services from Colorado Springs' only Planned Parenthood clinic right here in HD20.
I'd also point out that Julia Endicott attended the reopening of our PP after the horrible shooting in November, whereas our Republican mayor and Terri Carver were nowhere to be found.
Carver's positions on "constitutional rights" and education sound very much like religious or libertarian objections that have led to discrimination against LGBTQ and other minorities, refusal to recognize reasonable gun-control measures, and acceptance of religious influences and presence in public education.
Remember, as HD20 representative, Carver influences state laws on personhood, sex education, school curricula, and other important matters. Her work on human trafficking and Waldo Canyon reconstitution can't substitute for wrong-headedness on other issues that affect many of her constituents.
Thanks Joel for your spot-on comments. As Thomas Sowell succinctly said, she's a "thoroughly corrupt liar." Don't screw up, America - this woman is dangerous. Our liberty as free citizens is at stake. Vote for the lesser of the 2 flawed candidates. Vote Trump.
"anyone still sporting a trump bumper sticker can no longer pretend to be religious, moral, an upstanding citizen, non-racist, non-bigoted, non-misogynist, or pretend to be anti rape culture. party over country"
I'm glad a cowardly, anonymous CS Indy poster now is my judge. What an absolute demonstration of the anti-Trump idiocy! It should be a meme. Try to shame decent Americans who don't want law breaking political hacks and criminals in the White House and selecting up to five Supreme Court justices. No wonder he doesn't want to share his name. This kind of rhetoric and factless drivel is yet one more reason that Trump voters don't answer any poll questions.
Trump was not my first or second choice for President, but the picture of The United States he paints is a lot more like the one I'd fight for than the one Hillary Clinton and her legacy of corruption paints. I will enthusiastically cast my vote for him.
The hypocrisy of "never-Trump" and "Hillary no matter what" is astonishing. The very reasons many of this crowd say are why they support her, she immediately abandons when speaking in front of donors in private settings or contemplates taking a donation for her foundation. From the obvious underpayment of women at the CGI, to despots in sub-Saharan Africa that she and her husband supported for their donations who violated every human right they contend to support to their unabashed support of the regimes and powers that would murder all LGBTQ citizens. Supportive of women and children? Publicly demeaning a 12-year-old who was so brutally raped she couldn't bear children and then bragging about getting the perpetrator off? Yep that's anti-rape culture for sure. On judgement day, I don't know how I'll stand, but I'll make it my life's work to make it a good outcome. One things for sure, though: "happyfew" won't be making the call.
Vietnamized: Since you are all about facts, could you provide some evidence for Trumps cocaine use? I'm not a Trump supporter, just a fan of logic over rhetoric and facts over baseless accusations. You are entitled to your own opinion... but not your own facts.
One more thing - if you disagree with me at least have the mental acuity to tell me why...and make sure you've got your facts straight. You are entitled to your own opinion...but not your own facts.
