Re: “GOP's post-election challenges, what's wrong with the Indy, and more

"The NRA has to figure out why we took back the two seats they hijacked in the recall. "

The NRA did not hijack anything. In fact the NRA had very little to do with the recalls and really wanted nothing to do with them. The NRA only got involved when they realized the recalls stood a very good chance of succeeding. The NRA's history is filled with maneuvers like that.

Regardless, the Dems lost control of the state Senate. And you lost because by and large you fibbed and got caught, went very negative, and harped on one issue. Hell, you would have lost the Governorship if Beauprez had even half the campaign presence Hickenlooper did and as it was it was very close. So, call 1-800-WHAA and ask for some cheese to go with your whine as you stew in your own hatred.

Re: “Prominent local activist retires, and governor budgets $30.5 million marijuana refund

THANK YOU! Audrey Hatfield´╗┐ for all of your selfless work on helping those in need. No one has provided more direct help to sick people in this state. Time to focus on your health. We love YOU!

Oh and look, now we can laugh as the state returns 30 million over-collected in pot taxes while the schools get 1 million of the 40 million the 64 SCAMpaign promised voters.....

Re: “GOP's post-election challenges, what's wrong with the Indy, and more

Lamborn is the last person I'd ever accuse of being courageous, he simply hates our freely twice-elected president. Our congressional rep is a bad actor, like the time he used the racist term "tar baby" regarding Obama, did not attend a SOTU speech and many more times. I respect Ralph Palmer for his service, but not Lamborn.

Re: “John Muir shoots video

I don't understand...did the author miss where they clarified that permits are for commercial filming only, like movie production, and do not apply to journalists? What an important non-issue you've sensationalized here. Really making a strong case for the worth and integrity of your work.

Re: “The decorum of leaders

It would be nice to have some real leaders but sadly we live in the clown car era of politics where anger and bile are the hallmarks and our choices are too often limited to small minded amateurs given to narcissism, grandstanding and groveling for money from the wealthy.

Re: “GOP's post-election challenges, what's wrong with the Indy, and more

Using the term courageous and Lameborn in the same sentence is similar to the other oxymoron, "Military Intelligence". If your (not mine) dear congressman is so courageous, why is it that he's too afraid to debate his opponent? Doesn't like the "uncivil tone", meaning facts about his piss poor attendance record and lack of accessibility might be brought to the public eye? http://www.coloradoindependent.com/149194/…

Also, to straighten the facts, Lameborn urged the generals to resign, not "tell the American people the facts". http://www.coloradoindependent.com/149497/…
Of course, facts get in the way of any argument when they aren't to our liking.

Re: “To Moscow, with care

Tragic. It is amazing how many "God fearing people" shun those less fortunate and those in real need. Colorado Springs is one of the meanest places I have ever known...And I grew up in Washington, DC.

Re: “Prominent local activist retires, and governor budgets $30.5 million marijuana refund

Well considering a large contingent of El Paso County tea bag republicans have opposed recreational marijuana and have managed to ban it everywhere except Manitou Springs - a decision they are still trying to overturn in the name of the "children" and keeping our Federal welfare programs - oh, excuse me I mean military installations. It seems it would be more than a bit foolish to turn around and give these individuals a refund. Good grief people are we as a State insane or just stupid? Doug Bruce must be grinning from ear to ear.

Re: “The long, long campaign; Veteran's Day, 'free thought'; and more

Because "Free Thought Views" is a paid advertisement, I refrained from commenting on the column written by Bill Durland. Since the Indy has seen fit to publish a letter in praise of the column, however, I feel compelled to say I found it to be misinformed, tendentious, and anti-Semitic.

Re: “The long, long campaign; Veteran's Day, 'free thought'; and more

"In recognition of Veterans Day, I wanted to share some facts about the Congressional Medal of Honor," - Charles H. Guy

You mean like the fact that technically it is not the "Congressional Medal of Honor", it is simply the Medal of Honor. The Society, however, is correctly known as the Congressional Medal of Honor Society being as the Society was chartered by Congress.

Re: “'Why I don't vote,' Herpin's progress, labeling GMOs, and more

Father Carmody is disingenuous for bemoaning that "for same-sex unions, the government is lighting fast." Truth is, I see news items on same-sex couples getting married who have waited a lifetime for this right to be theirs as it is for others. Lightning fast? Spare us such spin and sour grapes.

The same-sex marriage issue reminds me of black civil rights, where it took a hundred years from the end of the Civil War for passage of the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act and other landmark legislation and court decisions (Brown vs Board of Education / Loving vs Virginia) that finally lived up to the Constitution's promise that "...all men are created equal..."
Lightning Fast? Spare us such spin and sour grapes.
