he reminded me that the first three words of the Constitution are: “We the People”, not “Me the Individual”, or “It the Corporation”.
Bernie reawakened many Americans to the spirit of the Founders and their desire to make America a “more perfect union”. He reminded us that the government they established is aspirational, not confrontational, inclusionary, not exclusionary, and exists to make all citizens’ lives better, not establish an environment for protecting expanded Capitalist exploitation. Yes, this is a Democratic Socialist Nation, founded during the enlightenment’s heightened awareness of the Social Responsibility we ALL share in expanding the Common Good.
I helped sponsor Mr. Hightower to speak to the Democrats in Tom Green County, TX prior to the 2012 election - I'm a huge fan, and I think he's exactly right. Bernie 'spoke' to all of us when he belabored the system for being corrupt and rigged for the rich. I would have voted for him without reservation. Now we have to avoid a Trump presidency and there is no way I'm going to split the vote. What would our world be like if the new President was favored by Vladimir Putin, his puppet master Aleksandr Dugin and owes millions to the Chinese banking system.
I strongly agree with NewTom that Bernie has had a positive influence on the Democratic platform and I would remind other readers that this country has always been something of a socialist democracy. We all pay for common services and infrastructure...as long as some anti-tax, debt-addled sequestering fool doesn't shut the government down again (are you listening, Ted Cruz?)
That's a reassuring thought. He strongly influenced the platform's Hopefully we'll get a election results that will put the government back to work rather than obstructing every good idea
More of the same liberal media trash talk. Yawn.... Speaking of liars...... the Clintons have both lied under oath.
