Re: “Trump event at UCCS stirs controversy

Strange political creature expected in area today. Orange-tinted skin topped by what appears to be a blonde-dyed animal pelt styled in a mullet. Said to be easily irritated; goes ballistic when mention of "...such tiny hands, and we all know what THAT means!" Even tho this is Lyin' Ted country, traffic jams/crowd will show to see the small hands.

Somehow the online version of this review showed up with some paragraphing issues. The print version shows the correct paragraphing. Sorry about the additional breaks above making the review a choppy ready. Thanks...Bill Wheeler

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

Thank you ChelAnne. How right you are that those who have forced Glenn to revisit his pain-filled childhood should be ashamed of themselves. But now that the story - which is nobody's business outside the family - is out, and because Glenn can expect to be heckled by haters while on the campaign trail, and because he will be asked about this long ago incident ad finitum by the media who will not let this "juicy" story go away, it is in Glenn's best interest, as well as all the other Coloradan families who are living with violence in the home, that when Glenn is speaking in public he should tell his story at the outset, briefly, and then move on to what the electorate wants to know, which is what he intends to do for the people of Colorado when he is elected U.S. Senator.

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

Shame on those of you putting this painful incident for this family in the forefront! Domestic violence is a perpetual cycle for families across our nation. So glad to hear that Mr. Glenn was able to stop the cycle. Protecting his mother from a perpetrator is not only noble, but a quality that makes him a good man! There are many memories that I would like to "block out". When someone reminds me of painful times, it's normal to be in denial at first; taking time to remember and going through the emotional roller coaster to recall the incident.

Proud of Mr. Glenn coming forward and addressing the issue. More proud he attempted to protect his mother and did not allow the cycle to continue in his own family.

Just my 2 cents!!

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

I don't think, and you don't think, and I don't think anybody else thinks that Bennet had anything to do with the INDY'S reporting of this story, which first appeared in the Denver Post. The neutral and unbiased Post even had a hand writing expert look at the 18-year-old Glenn's signature on a form in an attempt to blow up this molehill into a mountain. Knowing, as we all do, how politicians running for office will dump dirt on their opponents, it does lead even the most casual of observers to wonder if maybe, just possibly, hard as it is to believe, that Bennet, Glenn's opponent in the U.S. senate race, had something to do with bringing this "bombshell" story to the public's attention. Now there's an angle worth investigating.

Re: “Mixed blessings

The construction project, which is still moving along, hasn't lead to the demise of Colorado Springs, or created an influx of students, and visitors that turned the community into a haven for Moonies. Andrew Wommack is not a hatemonger, and beyond the issues his son has had you don't hear about any scandals about him, or his ministry. I can admit that there are times I've felt that he stretches the truth because he's overzealous, but I also would have no problem telling him that to his face. Andrews son Peter is divorced, and his ex-wife had posted on the internet her version of the night Peter was "raised from the dead", and she said yes he did flat line at the hospital, but the doctor shocked him back to life. So no "dead for 5 hours, turned blue with a toe tag on him" as Andrew has proclaimed. To his credit Wommack has not hidden the fact that his son was a mess, and in the past used illegal drugs. Wommack still has a Southern Baptist streak in him, and that's evident by some of the political statements he weaves into his messages, but he is a Vietnam veteran so I cut him some slack there.

Re: “Ex-gay like me

Me and my boyfriend were seriously in love for 3 years and we were planning to get married but one day he came to my house and told me he was no longer interested in our relationship simply because he was dating another lady who promise to buy him a car and to sponsor their wedding. And i suffered a heartbreak for five months and i was not tired of loving him. One faithful day as i was browsing through the internet, i saw a testimony on how a spell caster helped a man to get back his wife after two years of losing his wife because he was no longer having a job. through this Email, i sent an email to Manifest Spell contact him for help and surprisingly my boy friend came back 3 days after the help of the spell caster. and now we are happily back together. He is the most trusted, genuine and real love spell caster.

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

The first comment tries the deflection game. Ignore the issue and praise Glenn while ignoring his repeated lies and deception on the issue at hand. Even Glenn's belated admission is self serving and lacking in total honesty. He would have us believe he ended up in a judge's chamber with his mom with no prior contact with law enforcement. He savages his father just like he savaged his step brother in one of his earlier lies. Remember the charges were also dropped with his father. He keeps digging a deeper hole for himself

I though his statement said the charges were dropped immediately , 2 months is not immediately. And I think if I assaulted my father and was charged I would remember lol Keep digging that hole .

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

Curious, Sen. Michael Bennet has had nothing to do with our reporting on this incident. We simply looked up Glenn's record and then dug deeper.

Re: “Assessing the local economy

Rather than commiserate about the local job market, HazyHurts, come up with a solution.

Create jobs by diversifying the economic engine. The problem isn't Drake is downtown but that there are no factories that build anything heavy. Pueblo has the wind factory, the steel mill, and other industry. Colorado Springs hasn't bent steel for anything in eons.

This city has the ability to be an industrial engine, but nobody wants to pull the trigger. Why? It isn't the physical or economic climate, so it must be the religion and the government.

That's where the fixes need to be made.

Re: “KCMJ cuts, hunting and fishing license fees, handicap parking, and more

Christina Krych: Inter-city expresses, or interurban commuter lines as they are known in America, are not only a dying breed (there's only one left, the Chicago, South Shore, and South Bend Railroad), but they continually lose money and are subsidized by tax dollars on top of the tickets. The other problem with them is once you hit a station and get off, then what? Colorado, like most of the west, doesn't address that very well. The experimental bullet train in California is a huge boondoggle that goes nowhere.

Re: “Residents make do — but don't make peace — with their contaminated water

To answer MargRita's question, and she's not stupid, it's a good question, but it has a complex answer.

The short form is that it depends on the filter.

The long form is that the filter has to be a Granular Activated Carbon, or GAC filter, and the granularity has to be such that it actually filters out the PFCs. Not all GACs do that. To get one that works requires careful research, and they aren't cheap, either. You can find under-sink filters at Lowes for under $200, but whether that can filter the PFCs is TBD. Berkey is checking their countertop tank filters to see if they do it, but they don't know either.

A good solution is a 5-gallon water cooler. Best one out there is $150 at Costco, but there are similar ones for slightly more at Lowes or Home Depot. The 5-gallon jugs are expensive on initial startup at $17 per, but they can be refilled for as low as 25 cents a gallon at various stores. Those fills can be GAC filtered, check the dispensers.

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

Don't believe Glenn for a second. The record pretty much disproves him.

Darryl Glenn is Ed Jones v2.0, but with a better script, more rehearsal, and just as much political failure.

P.S. He had a TS clearance in the AF, so he has been fingerprinted.

Re: “Darryl Glenn regains memory of assault charge, sort of

It is amazing that both the Indy and the Gazette are digging for the "truth" about an incident that happened 32 years ago, when Glenn was 18. In that incident, in order to stop his father from beating his mother, Glenn may have hit him in the face Or he may not have - his father dropped the charge 2 months later. And why should Glenn remember the details about this particular incident, one of many that occurred in his often violent home life. Living with a physically abusive father and attempting to protect one's mother from harm is something children and young adults try hard to forget.

Despite the harrowing circumstances of his childhood home life, it is admirable that Glenn has succeeded in putting his past behind him and making his life one of accomplishment - a life that would make any father proud.

Learning about this long ago event, my respect for Glenn has gone up several notches from an already high degree of respect. Wanna bet that his U.S. Senate challenger - Michael Bennett - is involved in this attempt to smear Glenn?

Re: “Police, court documents differ from Glenn on 1983 incident

Political consultant Floyd Ciruli of Denver stated that a failure for Glenn to own up to the facts could hurt Glenn more than the original offense. There seems to be common thread within politics of denying the truth. Lying about a small thing makes it into a giant. My sincere hope is that Glenn will overcome the need to lie and go on to be a politician known for integrity.
