I'm not disparaging 911 or the first responders. In my first post I am clearly disparaging the many idiots who tie up 911 with non-emergency calls. THEY are the biggest problem. If those calls went away, our 911 system would work fine.
However, that does not change a word of my second post. 1) If someone is stabbing you, calling 911 should not be your immediate priority. 2) Police can't act until after they get the call, then they have to prioritize your call, clear any calls they might be on, and drive to where you are, all of which takes time. 3) Police are not obligated to protect you.
These are simple facts, they apply anywhere you go in the US, and in no way mean that our responders are bad.
how about this quit charging money and pushing everybody around?
i been going in there for 20 years, sucks dude, Todd is a loser and always will be, Tony is a bigger loser and i hope he ends up living under the bridge on 26th street. hope the new owners can pull it back to goodness.
Much of this dialogue does a great disservice to the first responders in this community. Over the past few years, I have had to call on them more than I would have wished. 911 has always been helpful and the police and firemen who came were prompt and knew their jobs.
If we want better 911 services, we need to be prepared to pay for them. We haven't been. Thus the waits. We need to ante up and pay for 21st century services from 911 and first responders instead of always sounding like a bunch of chickens -- "cheap, cheap, cheap." We pay about $50/$100,000 in city property taxes. That's next to nothing for what we demand.
I wish the C4C and Colorado Springs Forward people would see the need to take care of these kinds of public services before they go off on a toot with their blue-sky schemes. They might have a lot more people supporting them on their long-term programs if they looked like they cared about the things that make people feel insecure.
"If you're calling 911 local authorities for help, be prepared to wait with a magazine while someone's breaking into your apartment or stabbing you." -- Pam Zubeck
Pun intended? (Magazine, as in a loaded 15 round magazine in your home defense firearm of choice?).
If someone is stabbing you and you are calling 911, then you are probably going to die regardless of any recorded message. If someone is stabbing you, you need to be either fighting back or running away, not calling the police.
The GOAL for the AVERAGE response time to priority 1 calls like this is anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes depending on where you live. Which means they have 5 to 20 minutes to start heading your direction. And that is AFTER they get your call. Which means by the time they get there, you will be worm food.
BTW, the police are not obligated to protect you.
So, regardless of a recorded message or not, only a fool relies on the police to get there in time and provide protection. Your best bet would be a firearm; or even a TASER ECD, CS Spray, and a pair of good running shoes.
Mr. Gitter, you forgot two other possible conclusions that may be drawn by someone totally ignorant of the facts:
3) 20 children did die and the government is dishonest
4) 20 children did not die and the government is honest
One definite conclusion I can draw is that you are not very good at logic, are you?
I can only draw two conclusions, which are:
1) 20 children died that day - the government is honest, or
2) 20 children did not die that day - the government is dishonest.
Since I can name numerous instances where the government is dishonest, it seems the burden-of-proof lies with those who believe the government is honest (please provide examples.)
I am SO disappointed with this city council. The things we have voted for that could increase the city's revenues are being overturned by the council. Colossal wastes of money like *this* are getting passed without any say from the public?
We could probably afford this, had we passed the recreational marijuana sales... oh wait! We *did* pass that, didn't we? Oh yeah... overruled by our "representatives".
The best part of the process hasn't even started. Just wait until they start seizing the property in or near the urban renewal district.
the best part of this article is the link that outlines:
"research has shown that there is generally no statistically significant correlation between stadiums and community growth."
but teabaggers around here don't need no stinkin sciency statisticy stuff.
Read the comments to the Washington link.
Well worth the read:
Washington Football Scheme
Mr. Hight might be a great guy, but that photo reminds me of Jaws the Shark.
May we call 9-1-1 if we're feeling raped AND robbed by C4C?
Oh well, just another day in teabagger paradise.
Wow, what a circus, and nary a peep from the local "fiscal responsibility" gestapo.
The patients support group, DAMS, Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions, works with dentists from the IAOMT and other holistic dental organizations to help educate the public about toxic dentistry and what one can do to avoid it. DAMS provides an information packet, information sheets about different choices you will need to make---removing mercury fillings safely, replacing missing teeth, root canals, cavitations, extracting teeth, first aid for the mercury poisoned, implants, choosing a dentist, etc
There is much to learn about holistic biological dentistry that involves mercury and other materials and procedures used in dentistry that may have a negative impact on one's immune system.
Before having any fillings removed or any restorative work done, please educate yourself first. Doing so can possibly save you a lot of costly mistakes, both from a financial viewpoint and from a health viewpoint.
For more information see DAMS' website: http://www.amalgam.org
Well if he was running here in the springs he would prolly get voted in. Heck he would get appointed in.
