Re: “Nor'wood negotiates to buy government land southwest of downtown

Jenkins and Anschutz own COS - what they want, they get. And the City has Jenkin's back. The article says: "RBD is in a situation where it can benefit the entire community by selling this property to Master Developer." Explain to me how the University Village Colorado shopping center on N. Nevada, across from UCCS property, benefitted the "entire community" and taxpayers when ALL the sales tax collected for 30 years goes to paying down the City's debt incurred to build UVC and NONE of the sales tax goes into the General Fund? The City's involvement in this enterprise was a great deal for the developer, but not for the City. And virtually all of the UVC tenants are national chains, a practice that is not supportive of Colorado businesses, and we can expect a "Master Developer" to bring in more chain restaurants and retail.

But Jenkins/Anschutz also want the appearance of legitimacy, and hence they buy and place their development supporters on the City council. Naysayers to developer's schemes to transfer the risk and costs of development to the taxpayers can expect to be tarred and feathered by editorials in the Anschutz owned Gazette, whose editorial board includes Anschutz's son.

Re the current election, I'm surprised that Gaebler is persona non grata with developers, particularly Nor'Wood/Jenkins, since she is on record saying that the BLR annexation agreement should be revised and taxpayers should bear millions of dollars of the infrastructure costs of Jenkin's BLR development, which is contradictory to the Judge's recent ruling that ALL infrastructure and other development costs were SOLELY the responsibility of the developer. It would be helpful for voters to hear from Gaebler as to how she as a Council member would vote on this issue.

Re: “Nor'wood negotiates to buy government land southwest of downtown

It would save us all a lot of time if we disband City government altogether and just build Jenkins an office to direct his plans for the use City assets and revenue to benefit him and his company. Why participate in the charade that we have people representing us?

Re: “Reader: This is Trump's agenda

Skycastle:

"So why put your trust in them? Try thinking for yourself instead."

Why put your trust in them? How about because SCOTUS is a co-equal branch of the government created by the Founding Fathers in the CONSTITUTION.

Your eagerness to dismiss SCOTUS reveals your contempt for everything in the Constitution that doesn't make you happy. It's not a buffet where you can pick and choose. It's the CONSTITUTION, and you don't get to reject SCOTUS and then say you're just following the Constitution.

"Bill, you don't need a law degree to understand the basics of the Constitution. "

Actually, it appears that the law degree would be very useful for you, since you think your opinion is right and SCOTUS is wrong. You got that backwards.

Re: “A message to city voters: Rise above the negativity

" - - -we could be looking at turnouts as low as 15 percent in District 4 and only in the 35 percent range for the other closely contested district races."

On the date Mr. Routon posted this article ( 6 days from the election) the overall rate of return of ballots (voter turnout) was at 18.47%.

What do you feel is the impact of negative advertising on local elections? A five minute grass roots survey. You can also check the current voter turnout for your city council district - Thank you.
