Re: “ColoradoCare, Donald Trump, Palmer Park improvements, and more

Lil Mick:

To the left, their god is not Jehovah but Big Brother and Big Nanny, they worship the state as their provider and all-knowing deity, and then rely on it for all in the same way that the theocrats on the right do. Yes, statism is a religion that tells people that it's OK to steal, covet, and murder for the greater good. That's what taxation, eminent domain, and the police state are all about.

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

Well, your right gurD...We've got quite a few folks who like to run around with their very limited military experience on their chest. My thought is it's those who seek the fame did the least....AKA Mikey, Gordon and few others. Your reply doesn't dispute my opinion that Mikey has just played the system so I assume that you too believe he's just doing this for the money. I don't really believe he's anti-Christian or any other religion. I believe he just saw an opportunity for a free law degree and later, a scheme to incite truly anti-religious folks into supporting a non-profit in which he makes a very comfortable living. Likely no different than a televangelist who tells folks to send money to him so he can save them, Mikey is just harvesting the other side.

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

So, Bigtime, isn’t that just like Gordon Klingenschmitt of “Dr Chaps” fame (anti-gay/ anti-abortion/ anti- Obama crusader) that was a chaplain in the military when he used his military uniform in protest against military policy when this is directly against military conduct rules and that the US military wouldn’t allow so he is now having an appeals hearing in Washington, DC, after he was discharged in this on this matter? Yet it was okay for him to use his military experience to become a State Senator until he lost his re-election bid after his Dr Chaps comments became too outrageous? How does this make Klingenschmitt any less of a veteran? How is this any different than Mikey Weinstein using his legal degree to advance anti-religion agenda with the military? Again, it’s a “do as I say and not as I do” situation with you conservatives.

Re: “Hope swings eternal

Update August 25th: In announcing yesterday that they were suspending Hope Solo for 6 months, the US Soccer Federation summed it up quite nicely...

"Taking into consideration the past incidents involving Hope, as well as the private conversations we've had requiring her to conduct herself in a manner befitting a U.S. National Team member, U.S. Soccer determined this is the appropriate disciplinary action."

Re: “Fewer Colorado Springs cops work the streets as crime rises

"freaking teabagger mentality is killing this town"

Actually, we're one of the most desirable cities in America, make "Best of..." lists on a regular basis and people reloctae here in droves because of the climate, cost-of-living, crime rates, recreational opportunities, etc.

The only deficient "mentality" is from self-absorbed, mypopic regressives that need Big Gov to provide their thoughts, words, deeds and cash, so they can remain happily detatched from any "heavy mental" lifting; thanks for demonstrating this yet again.

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

One thing to remember about Mikey and his crusade against the Air Force Academy. He used the system to obtain a free law degree only. This is not a combat vet, not someone who served our country in it's defense. He simply became an Air Force lawyer using taxpayers money. Now, instead of using that degree to honorably serve the rule of law, he formed this non-profit group (from which he gets paid very well) to avoid having to do any real work defending clients or prosecuting cases which would require real effort on his part. We can certainly understand his reluctance to offer prayer... not many life threatening moments sitting behind a desk in Washington. But hey, it's even easier now, fill out some paperwork and threaten a lawsuit and settle... easy money. Can't say to blame him, that's the system and he takes advantage of it but don't be fooled that this is an honorable Air Force veteran, standing up for comrades in arms. This is a easy money making scheme picking low hanging fruit and riding the system like he's done over his entire career.

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

U.S. Department of Labor Policy Statement on Harassing Conduct in the Workplace The Department of Labor plays a critical role in contributing to the nation's economic future. As such, we should incorporate the strongest and best workplace practices in order to effectively serve as a model for employers. As Secretary of Labor, I fully support the Department's strict prohibition of harassment. We must maintain a work environment that is free from unlawful harassment and where all employees are treated with dignity and respect. The Department's policy strives to prevent harassing conduct from reoccurring or to eliminate harassment before it becomes severe or pervasive enough to violate the law. The Department defines harassing conduct as any unwelcome conduct, verbal or physical, based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, parental status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation or belief, that either:  can reasonably be considered to adversely affect the work environment, or results in an employment decision affecting the employee and is based upon the employee's acceptance or rejection of such conduct.

Harassing conduct has no place in the Department; therefore, we apply this policy equally to DOL employees, applicants for DOL employment, and contractors. Harassing conduct by managers, supervisors, or employees, including contractors, at any level, will not be tolerated. Any employee who believes that he or she has been subjected to, or has witnessed, any harassing conduct should report the matter promptly to a person in their supervisory chain, their Agency EEO Officer, or, for regional office employees, the Regional Administrator of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) in the region where the conduct took place. Similarly, any applicant who believes that he or she has been subjected to harassing conduct during the process of applying for DOL employment should report the incident to the EEO Manager of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management.

Weinstein is a Christ-hating bigot, no more. No champion of freedom, he's singled out one religion to eradicate it wherever he chooses. Government officials do NOT give up their rights to free expression of religion, just like everyone else...military included. Those rights they enjoy are the same ones we fight and die for when called to do so. If military members choose to have the Quran, the book of Satan, or the Talmud on their desk, no one would care...but, if they did, shouldn't it be Weinstein that's leading the charge to remove it? But, alas, he wouldn't because it's not representative of Christ.
