Genuwines with Isakov? Illuminati with Apples in Stereo? Is this town trying to show the world that we have no idea how to match local bands with touring acts? Nothing wrong with those two local bands, but wisdom on the streets woulda put the Changing Colors with Isakov and El Toro with Apples; seems like a better fit, eh? These two shows are going to draw people that don't see many local bands and appealing to their taste could've done a lot for the right local bands.

If it's so easy to put together, why are you're posting on the internet rather than out there making it big? I'm just guessing that opening for Arlo Guthrie gets you a pretty big check.
What's so special about the Windchimes is that they're awesome people who write great songs and they're one of our community's best hopes for success.

Haha, I love the comment above me. Yeah, what's so special about the haunted wind chimes? They play slow boring mediocre folk that wouldn't be hard to put together at all.

At first I was concerned that perhaps this week's column might not mention the Haunted Windchimes. I was concerned that perhaps you and the Windchimes had fallen out of touch...that perhaps, they were no longer your golden children. I thought maybe, just maybe, bands other than those in Adam Leech's magic circle of specialness might get a mention. Thank goodness I stuck around until the end to see that your beloved Windchimes are still in your life.

Also, this particular Ska Skank Redemption is from Fort Collins, Colorado, not San Diego. We can only wish we were that cool :)

It should also be noted that you can pretty much stream every single Suburban Home Release on their website for FREE, before you buy it!!

just to add to worriedbandmembers comment...I also have a room at the shitpound...my band mates wont agree with me to leave but I am afraid my stuff is not safe there. The owner advertises he has security cameras but he doesnt he is never around to take care of things for the bands he does have...this place is a dump total dump...I want out of here...to all musicians do not come here it is shady and the building is run down he does not even have a sign outside that sas he is there...I would hide too if it was me.

I enjoy your column very much so I hope that you will print this in one of your upcoming editions. I think people should know. I was jamming at The Compund after reading your article above, lets just say I hope to warn any musician who needs a space to play to not go there I was disgusted by the operation of this place and even though I was warned by others to not go jam at this place I was trying to save a buck...well it is true whne people say you get what you pay for. I am going to spend the extra money and go to the Green Room where I was headed before. I hear great things from my peers about it and I needed to move right away.
So just a big fat buyer beware to the musicians in Colorado about The Compound...DO NOT DO IT.

Is this just about music? Or may I comment about the art scene?
Cottonwood Center for the Arts (427 E. Colorado Ave., www.cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com) is the biggest thing to hit this city in forever! Nowhere else can you find 80+ artists under one roof. They host an open house on the last Friday of every month and invite local bands/singers to perform (as a non-profit, the bands rely on tips but what a great way to get out into the public). And how about Stargazers Theatre & Event Center (10 S Parkside Dr.)? They've got some excellent performances all the time as well.

Actually, I would disagree with Adam's defining the Genuwines as "country-pop." I think they're more like alt-folk with a bit of a country feel, thus complementing indie folk rocker Isakov quite well.
