Re: “ColoradoCare, Donald Trump, Palmer Park improvements, and more

Don McCullen:

I am a progressive pagan and I would be ok having the AHA pay taxes along with all religious organizations, churches, political non-profits and any other organizations that brings in an income.

I do disagree that I want to replace God with Government. To me they are separate entities that have differing functions, and it is completely illogical to an atheist. How can an atheist replace God with Government, to them God does not exist. So, there is nothing to replace.

...and this comment that progressivism is "A religion that tells people it's ok to steal, covert, and murder for the greater good." I don't even know how to make sense out of that, but if the source is Steve Deace, well that explains it, and not even worth debating.

Re: “ColoradoCare, Donald Trump, Palmer Park improvements, and more

Unless they are involved in Progressive Politics longtooth. Right??? Will the American Humanist Association start paying taxes??? I doubt it cause they carry the water for the Progressive agenda as well. Progressive is not just poltical ideals, its also a Religion. A religion that tells people its ok to steal, covert, and murder for the greater good.

"We need to realize progressivism isn't a political ideology. It is a cult. A heresy that seeks to replace the church with its own religion. Replacing God with government. You can't defeat a heresy with a political party. Especially when the leaders of both parties are adherents to it to varying degrees. Only the church is capable to defeat a heresy. Progressivism is the heresy of this age."-Steve Deace

Re: “ColoradoCare, Donald Trump, Palmer Park improvements, and more

Dave Beckwith: While you are correct about conflating the two pieces, Amendment 69 is not the solution. In simple terms, Colorado can't afford it. Health begins with the individual, not the state and not the insurance companies.

Larimore Nicholl: What makes you think she isn't?

Bob Kinsey: Channeling Adam Smith, champion of the free market, to call for the election of the watermelon Greens, who never met a free market they didn't hate, is disingenuous and completely ridiculous. They aren't another choice, unless one wants Hillary and Trump on steroids instead of simple common sense. That's yet another reason why the only sane and rational choice is to vote for your freedom and vote Libertarian.

Sally Alberts: The Hillarbillies are no better. Yes, America has gone mad. And you can blame both Democrats and Republicans for it, because they both are guilty of causing it and continuing it.

Re: “Next big (city) election looms just eight months away

Dream on about young people on council. To do this job well with both council and utilities board responsibilities, our current reps put in a nearly full time effort. At $6250/year that works out to far less than minimum wage. In 2013, voters decided in a landslide that they didn't want to pay any more for this job, and here we are with a large group of retirees who can actually make the time commitment. It is unreasonable to expect a young person to be able to pay for food, rent, student loans, and generally support their family while also basically volunteering full-time to govern our city and utility company. Expect "Geezer City" to be the norm for a while.

Re: “That's a lot of guns

Did the shitty sage hire these morons to waste time? Mine, yours, whoever, to cover his lack of rational thought and myopic view up his rear end?
Nobody will learn from this column or the weekly rag itself and it is easy to see that- unless you were born yesterday. You will learn to hate Douglas Bruce and not know who he is or was and end it with a preposition. You will not really learn about Wyatt Earp but will have assumptions instead. You will not learn that police carry firearms because they are sane, noble and deserving. They protect themselves with firearms. And kill citizens that pose a threat of any sort, that which will be judged at that moment. They do not consider the fear they instill to be a factor. Police are the sole possessors of sound judgement, citizens are not possessing of anything but drugs and guilt. And drugs are bad, mmmmkay, don't drugs mmmmkay, if you do drugs you're bad mmmmkay....
Earp was in law enforcement and protected the saloons and brothels that he owned. He disallowed open and concealed carry and that is understandable, all pimps that run things do not want to be challenged, they just want the citizen's money. Politicians and law enforcement ran everything. There was never a "stand in the street" gunfight, face to face, one on one. That is all myth except for the OK Corral where a dozen men settled a beef with firearms. The Earp's of course were on one side of that shooting, the side of the badge, law and order, The other side? Who cares, they lost. Not trained, just cowboys... you know, assholes with guns. Earp was a sociopath and sociopaths shoot dogs. Then they might tell you it was for the public good but they do not have to tell you anything at all. That's where we are now.

Re: “Is Gazette selling its political coverage?

So its okay to be politically biased if you don't get paid for it? Sorry, but true journalists are objective observers - something that has been increasingly lacking at the CSIndy for the last few years.

As for the Gazette, about the only truth we can agree upon is that its coverage now leans precipitously towards money - regardless of who provides it.

Re: “Is Gazette selling its political coverage?

Double duty of working for the GOP is just like running articles that end up in a book written by the Editor. The G is side stepping transparency issues (editor married to GOP political activist) by re-printing editorials from the other Anschutz owned paper and running.

To cover up the Gazette's blatant right wing stance their conservative followers cry that the paper is liberal.

PS: More like Eric Singer is trying to keep a job and stay pertinent.

Re: “Memorial lease, feeding hungry kids, ColoradoCare, and more

In response to LibertyForAll, hoping he can respond in an adult like manner.

I will respond to one comment from his last group of posts.

My first response to him was to correct him on his comment:
"Janet forgets/ignores the fact that the Dems held majorities in both chambers for much of BO's terms, and thus, did the most blocking of either party."

That's was just simply false...incorrect.

My response was to correct him that president Obama only had a democratic majority in both houses for 25% of his 8 year term, and one of his accomplishments during that short 2 year span, was to get us out of our financial freefall and begin a recovery.

This was his response to that:
"Hey "Mick", your math is about as faulty as it gets, because annualized growth under BO is pathetic, we've suffered through the first down-grading of our global credit rating ever, and the federal debt has ballooned to $19T+."

The math I was talking about was the 25% of his term, very easy to see if you read my post.

I was stating what I believe to be a fact and that is that the worst economic collapse any of us have ever experienced in our lifetime was turned around into a recovery in June of 2008.

I also noted, it was a slow recovery, I won't deny that.

All I was saying was in his second quarter ( I said third, I was wrong, it was his second quarter), with a democratic congress, he was able to turn this collapse to a recovery. That is always the first step and it was accomplished.

I also said this:
"yes, it was a slow recovery, but the recovery had started.", so I fully agree the recovery and growth was slow, but it was both a recovery and growth, compared to the free fall we were in.

And just an aside point to LibertyForAll's last response to this, to blame the down grading on President Obama is quite suspect.

It would be very easy to say, the reason for the downgrade was due to the Republican's rather ignorant threat to not increase the debt ceiling and threaten the U.S. to default on its loans.

There were a lot of Republicans who were saying that defaulting on our debts was not such a big deal....I beg to differ and so did Standard and Poor's.

Re: “Is Gazette selling its political coverage?

Eric Singer ran for office (City Council, I believe) many years ago. Sounds like he's using the Gazette and El Paso GOP to rebuild his base of support for a future run. He would be the Gazette's darling, after all...

Re: “Memorial lease, feeding hungry kids, ColoradoCare, and more

I have said this before and I will say it again.

Read those responses from LibertyForAll and see, feel the venom, the anger that this man unleashes when someone disagrees with him.

The personal name calling, labeling and insults.

The anger he emits is very disturbing and quite concerning as this man most likely has a rack full of guns.

....Just Sayin!

"despicable, just another ugly means that republicans do to subvert our democracy"

Kinda like, I dunno, the DNC fixing the nominating process against Sanders so the Hildebeast would be installed as the candidate, then firing the gal in charge of it just so she could immediately hired by the Clinton campaign?

Do you ever think about the hypocrisies that you contribute here, or does it cause too much cranial distress?

'This was in large part due to the economic recovery bill past by the Democratic held congress. They also passed the Affordable Care Act during that time. Those we both huge accomplishments"

Hey "Mick", your math is about as faulty as it gets, because annualized growth under BO is pathetic, we've suffered through the first down-grading of our global credit rating ever, and the federal debt has ballooned to $19T+.

As for the ACA, costs are skyrocketing, patients are being dumped, providers are walking away and insurers are abandoning the exchanges in record numbers, but don;t just take my word for it:

Re: “Memorial lease, feeding hungry kids, ColoradoCare, and more

Kudos Jay...thank you for the factual layout on how ColoradoCare affects businesses.

What Dan Lewis is doing is the same despicable threats that the Koch Brothers, Papa Johns and some other right wing companies including a local Colorado Springs builder (can't remember the name) did during the 2014 presidential elections. It was all lies.

They will tell their employees if they don't vote the way they want them to, their jobs are in jeopardy. It is so despicable, just another ugly means that republicans do to subvert our democracy.

It has become apparent, that republicans hate democracy, and subvert it by threatening jobs, voter suppression laws etc.

Thank you for shining a factual light on the subject.

Re: “Memorial lease, feeding hungry kids, ColoradoCare, and more

hey the article does not take into account that once colorado care passes.... the business wont need extra insurance. (minus the 7% cost) ((( Colorado Care cost is 10% total, 6.5% paid by the employer and 3.5% paid by the employee...so he saves 1%. he wont have to fire anyone hes just blowing smoke.))) The fact he pays 20% above normal might have something to do with his losses i mean lets be real here huh? Colorado care is a good idea.

here's the portion about costs in the amendment.

(CHI estimates ColoradoCare would bring in $36 billion in its first year and cover 4.4 million people. It would be run by a board of directors and would likely go into effect in 2019, after a preliminary period during which it would charge a tax of .09 percent. When running, it would be funded mainly by a 10 percent income tax, two-thirds paid by employers, one-third paid by employees. The self-employed would pay the full 10 percent tax.)

Re: “Being Muslim in Colorado Springs

Muslims really need to try understand that they are walking dead by virtue of worshipping one of Satan's alter-egos - the idol of Baal in Mecca - to which they kneel under a crescent moon in their mosques.
The true GOD YHWH, Father of Jesus and all us humans repeatedly destroyed the followers of Baal and His Son, Jesus, repeated this is the fate of idolaters like Muslims in Revelation 22:15.
Unfortunately all Muslims have ears and eyes blocked by Satan and will not open a Bible or listen to any logic or reason and so they walk in Satanic ignorance to their destruction.

It would be a truly Christian act if anyone can get to the young women in the article and have them read Rev 22:15 or 1 Corinthians 6:9 both of which state: '9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.'

Unfortunately the women will claim any such effort is hate crime just as any homosexual, lesbian or pedophile would if confronted with their fate.
So basically Muslims have to be left to walk to their doom along with homosexuals, lesbians and pedos.

Re: “Shield 616 protects the protectors

Stop picking on Robert Lewis Dear? Yeah, because when he shot and killed multiple people "for the babies" (WTF!?) he really proved himself to be a functioning and well-respected member of our community and thus, we really shouldn't make a biug deal out of his human hunting.

This city is certifiably insane. You will protest the establishment of a second methadone clinic because "dangerous criminals congregate there" and refuse to offer a needle exchange or even view those with substance dependencies as human beings... And yet you bemoan the media's coverage of a man that literally and purposefully took the lives of others!
