Thanks to this review, I had lunch at Fifty Fifty Coffee House last month. The Pressed Turkey Sandwich was delicious and the Fifty Fifty Iced Coffee is addictive (I had 2). The service was also great, and I loved the atmosphere. I will be back.
Bring back the Philly Cheese sandwich!
A sopaipilla, sopapilla, sopaipa, or cachanga is a kind of fried pastry and a type of quick bread served in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, New Mexico and Texas. Some Mexican restaurants serve them to capture other Latin American customers but they are not know in Mexico.

Nothing will ever beat the Holly and Jeff days at La Petite...it was perfection.
John, you're kind of right, in that there's something about my lifestyle that keeps me from fully appreciating the subtleties involved in turning a grizzly bear into decoration. And I must have missed the aisle for people hunting cattle.
Your disdain for Bass Pro is more than obvious. I'm sure as you sit at your desk in the city and munch on your organic tofu salad, you have no way to identify with the American hunter and fisherman. Although you may eat grass fed organic beef (I actually prefer it myself) you do so with never having to kill your own meat, it comes conveniently packaged for you at Whole Foods.
I'm sure the aura of conservative America might have been a bit much in that environ, and the "evil" of capitalism was just too much to take. But really, have you led that sheltered of life?
Non the less. Love your paper!
We really enjoyed the meal from Pho 65 last night - very tasty food and good portions. We had the steak and brisket pho and it was delicious. Also tried the springs rolls - kids love them, and the combination noodle bowl was excellent.

La'au's Taco Shop (830 N. Tejon St., #110, laaustacoshop.com) is under construction, with both interior and patio remodeling in the works. Look for a re-opening this summer.
La'au's is just under construction; it'll be back next summer!
La'au's is closed down for the winter due to CC construction, but is coming back next summer, don't worry!
I enjoyed it last weekend but they need to work on the acoustics. The music was too loud for the space. It would also be nice if they toned down the lights. It would make a cozier, softer atmosphere in the evening. I will go again.
That place is the best.
If it is Portland-esque, it has to be good!
Love the Goose!
Nothing on La'au's bit still. It's still in title too. Please say it ain't so
Sorry Jeff, that's fixed now.
There was nothing about La'au's going on hiatus. Is this really happening, and when?
This article really surprised me. I have been there many times and have enjoyed everything I've had so far. The Slaughter house was excellent both times I had it. Ive had all the appetizers and the have all been amazing. the bartenders have been some of the best in the biz!
I've been to Joey's; it's good and worth patronizing.
Crowne Plaza wasn't much; nouveau riche Texans now give it a gag-worthy name. Ella-gon-tay. Pretentious to the max. I'll never go, not with a 10 commandments plaque in the lobby; monied Texans are the acme of greed and hypocrisy. They need to choose, are they a hotel or a church; make up your mind. Better yet, go back to Texas.
