Re: “Cyclists say their lives are at risk from road-raging motorists

Let’s break Ray’s comments down line by line…
“Most of these so-called bikers are a menace to the public.”
Most is a tricky word, is it really most cyclist or maybe just the ones that you noticed and can still remember. Do you remember every cyclist you saw who was not being a menace?
“It is time to force bikers to be licensed, carry liability insurance,”
Licensed? So at what age would you like kids to start taking a test to ride their bike? Most cyclists also have a car and also then have a license and insurance. Cyclists also don’t need a license to be ticketed by police for breaking traffic laws.
“and to pay road taxes like the rest of do.”
Road taxes don’t even pay for most of the road. Property, income and sales tax (think 2C) make up a larger portion of the funding. Plus, the large majority of cyclists own cars. They also pay the exact same taxes even when they are riding their bicycle which has the added benefit of greatly reducing the wear and tear on those roads (less potholes for everyone)
“I've seen bikers----the large majority”
What did we say about using the word majority…
“run stop signs, weave in and out of traffic”
Some cyclists break traffic laws, and they should be ticketed for, so do cars and every road user every day. Cyclist do not break traffic laws in a greater quantity just because they are cyclist (you just happen to remember them more). And no, the sample size of only the cyclist you remember doesn’t count.
“kick cars for no reason other than spite, so on and so forth.”
Let’s hope they stub their toe…that’s just rude no matter what type of transportation you choose.

Re: “Couple wants dogs who bit back, saying there's more to the story

Dogs are only as vicious as they are trained and treated. Treat them well and train them well and they are good animals. Treat them cruelly and train them to kill....they will.
Mary Ann Redfern and others like her need to get their heads out of the poop bag they are in......NO DOG IS VICIOUS....it is all HOW THEY ARE TREATED AND TRAINED. Even a poodle can be trained as a KILLER!

Re: “Why is private security patrolling our public streets?

This is a total waste of tax payer resources. Instead do something to help people get off the street NOT shuffle them elsewhere.

Re: “Why is private security patrolling our public streets?

For a reality check, the writer of this article should have interviewed downtown employees and residents. As a downtown resident of many years, I object to the characterization that we downtowners do not want to share the public space. I think we are very welcoming to people who show common courtesy and obey simple, common sense rules. Class and race have nothing to do with it. This article seems like a national narrative that's imposed on Colorado Springs, rather than a focused view of what our downtown is really like.

Re: “Why is private security patrolling our public streets?

I am curious, what sort of authority does a private security force have? If they are just private citizens, can the public just ignore their commands, or have they been granted some sort of authority by the city? Seems like the city should clarify, who, what and why these patrols exist, and exactly what authority they have.

Re: “Suthers preaches against MJ legalization in Arizona

John.

Maybe because "preaching" is self righteously telling others how to live? Dictating how others live their lives is creepy. Going against the will of the voters who voted for legalizing marijuana is counter to democracy and creepy in a totalitarian, dictatorial kind of way. Calling people twits is just childish and lacks originality.

Re: “Suthers preaches against MJ legalization in Arizona

So why do the creepy pot smoking twits at the Indy feel the need to use the word "preaches?"

Re: “Couple wants dogs who bit back, saying there's more to the story

IGNORANCE! ABUSE will change all living creatures. Pit Bulls are no different than any other animal. Horses are known to be violent and have had to be put down. Other dog breeds have also been violent and have been put down.

IT IS USUALLY THE OWNER! An owner needs to educate themselves before taking on a pet. ANY PET. Are you expecting to board a horse in an apartment? Do you have the time to devote to your pet? It takes time and effort to socialize a pet. Is your home appropriate for the pet? Is it calm or in chaos? Wll the pet fit in with other pets you may have? Can you afford the pet, food, vaccines, vets, etc.? Do you have adequate housing for you pet?

BEWARE OF THE WARNINGS? Don't put a fox in a chicken coup? Be aware of consequences. A baby cannot defend itself against animals. THINK! FIND YOUR COMMON SENSE.

I speak from experience. I own 3 pits bulls. I live alone on an acre of land with several acres between neighbors. I don't have any children visiting. I am usually home 24/7.
I am applauded by the animal control dept in my area. I am more afraid of someone killing my dogs because they are pits then I am of them biting someone. They have never been mistreated by a human and they trust people.

MAKE SURE THE ANIMAL AND THE HUMAN MATCH!

Re: “Couple wants dogs who bit back, saying there's more to the story

dogs arnt bad animals ANY OF THEM the dog will respond to how it is treated period. as for the officer? those igits arnt allowed on my property AT ALL...EVER!! most of em dont know what they are doing. and the dogs know it. alot of them dont even like animals. AND THE DOGS KNOW IT. as for pits they are sweet and awesome IF you are a dog lover. if your not a dog lover maybe you should choose another type of pet ...maybe a turtle.

Re: “CSPD announces "do it yourself" policing policy

Another example of horizontal growth not being able to pay for itself long-term. Too much area to patrol, tax base can't cover the costs.

Re: “DUI, gang and other units shift to the streets as crime rates surge, response times lag

Pitiful. The city has entered YOYO territory, i.e., You're On Your Own.
Meanwhile, the Mayor runs off to AZ, telling them not to legalize MJ.
Is there a "bathroom bill" due soon from our enlightened leadership?
Major companies are beating down the doors to move here. NOT!!

Re: “Millibo's value, road rage and bicyclists, Trump, Stein and 69

ColoradoCare (amendment 69) was designed by a group of Coloradans with no connection to any corporation, industry or political party. It would create a non-profit cooperative owned by the people of Colorado and run by a 21-member board of trustees elected by the people of Colorado. It would simplify our healthcare payment system while keeping our doctors, specialists, clinics and hospitals as independent businesses competing for your business.

ColoradoCare is our chance to get the big insurance companies and their bureaucracy, waste, profits, lobbyists and campaign contributions out of our healthcare. ColoradoCare would cover every Coloradan with top quality healthcare, with no deductibles, while costing us less than we pay now.

You owe it to yourself and your fellow Coloradans to learn more about ColoradoCare and vote for it in November. www.ColoradoCare.org

Re: “Why is private security patrolling our public streets?

Why? Because Struthers and the reich have always planned to take every bit of public property, land and services and pirate-tize them for the enrichment of their campaign contributors. The recent de-staffing of CSPD is the latest step in that effort and when that service is wrecked and the budget slashed all the way then it will be sold for pennies like the libraries, parks, schools, garbage, utilities, roads, snow removal, etc. This is an ideological battle to steal the public's property.

Re: “Couple wants dogs who bit back, saying there's more to the story

One thing the authorities cannot do is continue to return known vicious dogs back to irresponsible, delusional owners until someone is DEAD. The dogs should be put down. Public safety MUST come before the self imagined right to own a well documented vicious breed. People who failed to control their dogs once will fail again.
