"Majorally Disturbed"???? "Dangerous fellow"???? I've met Craig on several occasions and he is so sweet. As a married woman, he made friends with my husband and offered the same friendship to me. Who cares if he made a site letting some disgruntled ex's feel better about their slutty past partners. If Craig hadn't made this site someone else would. Who are we to frown on capitalism in these hard economic times?!?!?!?!
This is a good move...the west side, like downtown, is over run by panhandlers and unemployed kids with the pants down around their knees.
Neither place is cool or appealing as a place to shop or sit for coffee...one needs to simply go to a mountain town for a pleasant place...we just work here to get together enough money to leave town.
Maybe City Council needs to address that instead of passing resolutions to honor the "little people."
wow tech, your response is hilarious. Tech told a funny. Well, it is actually more ludicrous than humorous, but coming from a guy that has no sense of humor nor creativity, I gave you a little extra credit. Your discourse with dori has no point and is very similar to the "skid mark" you referenced.
And speaking of "skid marks", you accused me of using that faecal phrase. Please show evidence of same. You are always challenging the liberals to back their claims, let me see you back yours. Or are you just as duplicitous and hypocritical as your liberal friends?
It is on point of an argument and not accusing each other of having skid marks in their draws.
In 1956 as a junior in high school, a college combo at Oklahoma State headed by Ashley Alexander, jr. asked if I would like to try out for his band as guitarist. Somehow I made the cut and mostly played rhythm guitar as Ashley played bone, sax, trumpet and a little bit of everything else that made a sound. We played all over Oklahoma, Northern Texas, Dallas, Amarillo, Kansas, Arkansas and maybe a time or two in New Mexico. Mind you, these were Friday and Saturday night gigs. At the time, traveling late at night, WWL radio out of New Orleans broadcast a jazz program "Moon-glow with Martin" from the Ambassador Hotel. The station reached just about every where we were and would fight off sleep listening to those great selections Martin would play. In 1957 or 58, coming in from somewhere in Texas we first heard Johnny Smith. It was the greatest musical impact ever on my life. I was only 15 or 16, but I made intensive efforts to learn some of the things Johnny did. The first 2 things I worked on was "Ghost of a Chance" and "Moon Light in Vt. The impeccable tone and voicing I heard made chills run up my spine. I'm 74 now and Johnny is still my favorite and most appreciated guitarist of ALL TIME. For the past several years I have made a few jazz archtops using the D'Leco logo. I love guitar and I dearly love Johnny Smith, the greatest guitarist EVER. Thank you, James Dale, Oklahoma City, OK.
So tech, tell me, I suppose you think that you and dori's personal sniping is not boring?
Guru, you are an extreme yourself...your gay agenda is fringe thinking and beating people up your method of dealing with folks who disagree with you, and moving to the center is something you force on the system by pure nastiness.
Centrist thinkers are nothing more than those for whom capitulation to an extreme left that won't bend has become a way of survival.
Obama and his friends are in an all out war against family, tradition, faith, and the American way...and the future of America is a stake.
Fellow citizens, don't buy this weak thinking...it is a ploy of a mean-spirited left.
These sorts of tragedies should not be public displays, but handled professionally and quietly.
To make it a public scandal sends up all sorts of other flags about this family and simply puts on display a level dysfunction that needs privacy and calm, not media attention and hysteria.
I agree! The Mathis family is very loving, accepting and supporting. I commend them for not only accepting Coy for who she is but also sticking up for what's right. Coy deserves to be treated as an equal among her fellow students, not suppressed just because of a rare difference that doesn't harm anybody else.
I've been in contact with Kathryn, myself (on facebook), and I've told her of my own gender issues and how Coy's story has been an inspiration for me. She's very understanding, and I'm happy to have her as a facebook friend. :)
These salaries are way out of line of with what is appropriate for our community.
This is the tip of the iceberg...there is more under the table money in city government going on than you would imagine...that is why these guys love these forever jobs and run for office...it is a gold mine.
The Republicans seem to think that Democrats win because of money poured into campaigns. Yet they outspent Democrats (Karl Rove et al) in many races only to lose badly. The people know better than to believe they want to help America. I will be happy if the party of no, the party of racists, the party of no gun control, the anti women party, the anti immigration party, the anti middle class party, the anti environment party continues to lose elections. I am hoping they lose control of Congress so we can get to work and fix what needs to be fixed in this country. If you don't want to move forward, then please get out of the way.
I wonder how this makes the regular rank and file employee feel when they haven't seen raises in years and watched the cost of medical insurance go up and up. This is not the private sector and seeing these kinds of bonuses for upper management is a slap in the face to the average working person in Colorado Springs. And if you went to any of the Mayor's Town Halls the budget message was all doom and gloom and he said there was just no way they could justify continuing to pay for employee pension plans. Guess there are different rules depending on if you are a worker or a part of Mr. Bach's hand picked support team.
Have to wonder which fund this money came from that they will need to replenish at taxpayers monies next year? Does no one have control over these monies or is it just arbitrary monies for Back to do with as he pleases. I don't even earn 25,000 year so I would say on top of the pay and benefits this money could be use more wisely somewhere else in this community. And how do we justify having to get rid of employees to stay in the budget "crunch" they like you to believe we have and then give someone these bonuses. Seems to me none of the services are doing such a bang up job to warrant these bonuses. Sounds to me this is running the same way the utility department used to run.
The Mathis family is awesome!
I believe and hope that our El Paso County will become more central in the political atmosphere here, hoping that we have grown up in the last 20 years to become more mature about how we govern our city, and able to seek more common ground than extremes. I can only dream of such a place will become reality as we all see how our world effects everyone, not just one group.
I can't believe they considered the "evacuation" on June 26th a success. It was complete and utter chaos on the roads in that area. Bumper to bumper traffic for miles with panic only minutes and a change in wind direction away. Perhaps they mean only the door-to-door notifications.
Re-evaluating and amending our Constitution is something we have done from the very beginning. The same people who wrote it, especially James Madison, we're part of major efforts to amend it after it was ratified. Amending the Constitution is as American as the Constitution itself.
That being said, it is time for a re-evaluation of the second amendment, which was written at a time when it took twenty seconds to reload a single-shot rifle. Being that fire-rates are now measured in "rounds-per-minute," and we already do limit access to many guns, reform measures start to seem less obscure and more part of the process. Statistically, countries who adopt gun reform measures like background checks, assault weapons bans, mag limits, etc, have decreased murder rates. If we add in mental health reform the numbers of gun-related deaths averted skyrocket.
Reform isn't punishing anybody. The American people, with unusual levels of popularity, at the very least support background checks, and many also the mag limits and AW ban. This trend comes at the cost of twenty-six lives in December, and the new and continuing attention brought to the everyday gun violence that we could be mitigating with better laws.
And to be clear, this whole situation does not fall under the umbrella of "removing existing minority rights" as gun-owners are not classified as a minority group that is religiously or racially based. And whether or not you agree with the Supreme Court process, they have ruled that these types of reforms are Constitutional. So... let's hope the American people get what they want!
"It's amazing. People are very paranoid."
There. Fixed it for you.
The mayor, along with making a jurisdictional-territorial battle out of this, channeling Nero while "Rome" burned, instead of doing his job, violated Homeland Security Presidential Directives 5 through 8, first directed by "W" after 9/11, that define the coordination and implementation of all-hazards preparedness in the US, to respond to major disasters, and emergencies.
He also totally ignored all dictates of the NIMS 402 Incident Command System protocols for executives and senior officials that coordinate authorities in disasters like this.
There was a complete lack of a coordinated Incident Action Plan that the responder's leaders consider crucial, which led to a breakdown in communications at critical locations.
There was a total resistance to the ubiquitous "mutual aid" agreements which ALL municipal emergency responders have to lend assistance across jurisdictional boundaries.

Colorado Springs EOC active by 12:30. (The fire already WAY out of control) So... at this point, the time he wasted the day before is haunting the responders and risking lives and property.

No ISC 205 Form Plan. (How are they going talk to everyone?)
This was a crucial failure on 9/11 and the lessons should have been learned then. The cell phone technology totally let them down.

This addresses the ideological portion of the failure: neocons and teabaggers cutting funding for public services because they want to pirate-tize every service we pay our taxes for.
