Re: “Civil obedience: Getting union-ed in Colorado Springs

Fourth Grader's Gay Marriage Essay Goes Viral Posted: 04/24/2013 2:20 pm

A fourth grader's poignant plea for gay marriage is making the blogosphere rounds.
In the letter, which was originally posted on Reddit, reads, "As you can see gay people should have the right to get married and shouldn't judge other peoples lives because if you was gay you wouldn't want people talking about you." Check out the letter in full below:

Why gay people should be ablt to get married is you can’t stop two adult’s from getting married because there grown and it doesn’t matter if it creeps you out just get over it. And you should be happy for them because it’s a big moment in their life. When I went to my grandparents wedding it was the happies moment.

As you can see gay people should have the right to get married and you shouldn’t judge other peoples lives because if you wat gay you wouldn’t want people talking about you.

Buzzfeed and Towleroad have been among the various media outlets to subsequently post the letter. Children across the nation -- many of which have been raised by gay or lesbian parents -- have been making headlines after sounding off on marriage equality in a variety of different ways.

Re: “Civil obedience: Getting union-ed in Colorado Springs

Actually marriage of husband and wife to become father and mother, to have children, and to care for them and raise them to be moral and productive citizens warrants tax benefits to help that happen.

The gay choice offers no such contribution to the stability of society, and like cigarettes should have sin tax placed on it.

Wow jinxx - what's with that town of yours? Are you the only one that reads? Do they have libraries in CS for all residents? Or are there only bibles and a creationism section?

Re: “Civil obedience: Getting union-ed in Colorado Springs

So by your logic, the government should have nothing to do with marriage, of any kind, and all benefits / protections provided the government for married couples should be tossed out the window?

Re: “Chemical reactions in downtown Colorado Springs

CapitalistPig, Last we checked, the city still owes Utilities $3.3 million for this property. At one point in the past, the city wanted Utilities to simply take the property back, but as far as we know, Utilities didn't do that. We'll check further. Thanks for the question.

It is the same as forcing us to underwrite abortions or the morning after pill. The job of government is to defend our freedom, not fund sin.

Re: “Civil obedience: Getting union-ed in Colorado Springs

So people wishing civil unions don't pay taxes? Or should they continue to pay taxes to support services of the community that only support your beliefs and needs? You sir, are the problem with this entire country, you forget, you're not the only one paying the taxes. Wake up and remove your cranium from your Gluteus maximus, you're not more special than everyone else on this planet.

Re: “Chemical reactions in downtown Colorado Springs

Pam: Please investigate the purchase and payment for these propertties. The City did not pay for these "purchases" and utilities did not foreclose on them. I think Utilities wrote off the money owed as bad debt. The result is that the natural gas utility customers are paying for these properties in their utility bills. Yes, we are subsidizing the U.S. Olympic building through our utility bills. It would be interesting to know how much the City did not pay and impact that is having on our utility bills. This is a worthy article!

Re: “No time for mulligans at Broadmoor

As a resident of Old Stage Road I see that road used EVERY day. Keep in mind:
1. The obvious evacuation route issue is the most critical point.
2. It is the most direct route for tourists to go from I-25 to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo or up Old Stage Road to National Forest access. (we already have people lost around here all the time - so we make it harder?)
3. It's not just vehicles that use that road. It is constantly used by walkers/runners/bicyclists - many of whom are guests at the Broadmoor.
4. This issue is part of the Colorado Springs full "tourist industry". Really, about the only industry we have left so don't keep cutting away at it so only the Broadmoor and their high end residents have easy access. I can see the Old Stage/Emerald Vally access being cut in the future as well.

reshoe: "...our city is going to be runned into the ground." What an intelligent comment.
Does Mayor Bach suffer from dementia or were you attempting to be funny at the expense of anyone that suffers from this very serious mental disorder?

Ah, K, back from licking your wounds I see. George Soros is a communist and a socialist. You are confused (as usual) because he champions those beliefs on everyone but himself. This duplicitous and hypocritical behavior is typical with the elitist self-righteous, liberal mind set.

How can a neorological disease not affect ones performance. Council president with parkinson disease and the Mayor having dementia, our City is going to be runned into the ground.

Re: “No time for mulligans at Broadmoor

It once again demonstrates their arrogance and lack of respect for nearby residents and the greater Colorado Springs community.

George Soros is a liberal capitalist. He is not now, and has never been, a communist or a socialist.

I hope judges participate in this mockery of marriage on their own time and not at our expense...it is offensive enough that the clerk's office now has to deal with this foolishness, and at what cost I wonder to the tax payers.

Re: “No time for mulligans at Broadmoor

The Broadmoor is becoming less and less an asset to the community and is not of much interest to any of us anymore.

It continues to wall itself off and isolate itself into the worst example of class division, with no consideration for the community...an institutional narcissism in which only their needs, like in this case, are being considered and the heck with anyone else.

More than that though is its interference in the community to stop us from having pleasurable things for those of us who were not born with big trust funds or struck it rich in some governmental or real estate scam...like their blocking a downtown convention center.

Blocking that street is an offense and inconvenience...but I bet Keith King has already made a deal during his fund raising in 80906 to do this.

Re: “It's ready, aim, recall against Morse

If you live in Colorado Springs Senate District 11 and are dissatisfied with your Senator John Morse, please visit http://gotremorse.com/home/ for information about the effort to recall him. This recall simply allows the question to go directly to the voters. Does John Morse accurately represents your views? Please get active, and let your voice be heard.

"Green" energy is simply incapable of replacing oil, coal, gas and nuclear. It isn't developed to a commercial point and can only survive (and even then for only a short time) when the Government uses our tax dollars to subsidize it. For the life of me, I can't find the power to invest taxpayers' money in business anywhere in the Consitution.
