Re: “Victor Matthews and Bourbon Brothers double down on a spirits resurgence

Seriously CSIndy??? The departure (whether voluntary or not) of the covergirl of this story less than two weeks after Bourbon Brothers official opening would seem to merit at least a side dish mention. And while this is clearly a small town and small fish issue... please stop publishing V. Matthew exaggerations and partial truths as "fact checked truth". His primary product is his own story and people spend real money based on his "tales". From the young adults (and the military veterans who he directly markets to) who enroll in his culinary school based on his questionable credentials; to the investors in Palapas, to "culinarian" above who has clearly had first hand issues with Matthews claims, almost everyone in the local industry has long since called bullshit . Maybe now the Indy will too, but probably not. Everyday that Paragon Cooking School continues to advertise Victor's BS "credentials" as a reason to come to the school they commit a fraud and every time that the Indy republishes those claims they facilitate that fraud. Of course all of this is not presented as fact, and is just my opinion. Lastly I wonder how many disgruntled ex paragon students it would take claiming fraudulent misrepresentation before a class action was filed.

Re: “A decade after being term-limited out of office, John Anderson wants to be sheriff again

Anderson has not started the race off very well as he has already lied to the public. He states no deal was offered or accepted in this article but the text messages Maketa sent to former undersheriff Goodall clearly indicates otherwise. Maketa tried to get Reid to accept a deal first and when Reid did not accept he called anderson who accepted. The text message was published in the Gazette. Kind of hard to dispute. If that is uncompromising integrity, this county is in big trouble. Something stinks in Maketa's camp. What type of leader is arrogant enough to come out publicly say "I make the rules but I don't have to follow them". I'm surprised anderson would accept his endorsement. Stop being sheep people and dig a little deeper then the five minutes you see Maketa on TV to say he has been a great sheriff. If anderson is accepting an endorsement from someone like Maketa, something is wrong. Don't judge a good by its cover.

Re: “A decade after being term-limited out of office, John Anderson wants to be sheriff again

Sheriff John W. Anderson has my vote. Sheriff Anderson is a true professional and he is the only person in the race who has the credentials, expertise, knowledge and the experience of being the El Paso County Sheriff. I have known every El Paso County Sheriff from Norman Short, Earl Sullivan, Marion Shipley, Harold Red Davis, Bernard Berry, John Anderson and Terry Maketa. Sheriff John Anderson has the distinct duty of being one of the best El Paso County Sheriff's. I totally support Sheriff John W. Anderson to be the next El Paso County Sheriff.

Re: “A decade after being term-limited out of office, John Anderson wants to be sheriff again

I have known John Anderson professionally since my time on city council years ago and would not hesitate to recommend him to any voter who wants to ensure that we elect a knowledgeable & competent candidate with uncompromised integrity as the next El Paso County sheriff. He's got my vote.

Re: “A decade after being term-limited out of office, John Anderson wants to be sheriff again

Though some may think different, I've lived here for 30+ years and Mr. Anderson did an outstanding job before as our Sherriff and I know he'll do a great job again. As our county grows we will need the leadership and experience of someone who can get it done right the first time. We can not let our guard down against changing times or people. Though the other candidate's are good people they simply do not reach the level of John Anderson. My VOTE again will be with John Anderson.

Re: “All three GOP candidates in HD 15 push a conservative agenda

Klingenschmitt "was forced from the military after being convicted at court-martial in 2006 for disobeying orders."

When asked to differentiate himself from the other candidates, Klingenschmitt says, apparently without a trace of irony, "they've never served in the military. I served as a chaplain in the Navy." He did serve, indeed, and he failed!

Congratulations, HSPPR! Quite an accomplishment. Shelter pets are the best pets. (And congratulations to Bryce and Zeb)

Re: “All three GOP candidates in HD 15 push a conservative agenda

I notice Dr. Klingenschmitt calls his show "Pray in Jesus Name." The late snake-handling Kentucky Rev. Jamie Coots was pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name. Is the possessive case demonic? Are apostrophes tools of the Devil?

Re: “If South Academy can get beyond talk, it might get out of the slow lane

My business is in this end of town. It is not a dismal place to be. The people here are kind, considerate, and dedicated citizens. And tax payers. And, so am I.

Our rescue dog (adopted in April of 2013) has a red tattoo on her tummy...what does that mean?

Re: “Operation Free says the military's investment in clean energy will keep America safe

The best way for the military to save energy is to permanently close some more bases.

Klingenschmitt is a well-respected member of the Republican Party.

Have you seen the podcasts of his show, Pray in Jesus Name? Both Commisssioner Peggy Littleton and Congressman Doug Lamborn have been his guests.

So, a crackpot, a jackass and a homophobe walk into The local Republican Party headquarters...and all three are nominated for office.

Funny and sad at the same time.

I'm not a Democrat and Gordon scares me. "Unhuman"?! This guy wouldn't get anything done in the legislature and would become a joke, a pariah.
