Seems reasonable to me to have a park fee with tollbooths at the entrances. Visitors should get a handout with regulations and safety tips. Locals should get some sort of annual membership.
Daily... as in during the weekend too? That would be useful
Your statement about the role of government isn't exactly original or ground-breaking, and certainly it is not a compelling enough reason to vote for anyone.
So, do you have any specific criticisms with Rep. Lee? How will you be different?
Once again, the Indy has cut through the fog of the political season to bring us a laser focused insight on the ideological war that is being fought out on TV, in your mail box and on your front porch. In the Oct 8 endorsements you write that I accused the incumbent Democrat “of acting as though government can solve problems”. BTW, I expected an endorsement for my Republican campaign, the same way President Obama breathlessly expected one from Fox’s Bill O’Reilly.
Can or should we expect Government to solve our problems?
I believe that people can solve their own problems. Government’s job is to protect our rights and provide basic services so we may do so. When government gets confused and thinks it can solve our problems; it tinkers with our lives, try’s to protect from us from ourselves; and flies down the path of unintended consequences.
For instance; College Education Debt. Federal Government pours money into Higher Education, inflates the market, now wants to fix the student debt issue.
In this election season, there it is, your real choice. Are you voting for someone to employ government to fix your problems, or are you in charge? Do you want government to provide a good road for you to drive on, less regulations to wrestle, and just enough of that good ol’ DMV customer service?
Non-endorsed Candidate for HD18
The City needs to over see it because as we know, People can't respect things that belong to others!
Expanded Bus Service? cough ....Not much to brag about there.
What about making people get permits to enter the park like us climbers do? It's free like required, but can increase accountability and reduce traffic. If someone is caught defacing the formations, they can give their permit and be fined. Locals could get a year long permit with proof of local ID. They would just need to hire a few more people at the info center to issue the permits. Could be something to consider.
Maybe all of the local "friends" groups and other organizations that are created to protect the parks could come up with a internal system of funding a few officers to do walk throughs of every park to help with this.
"Garden of the Gods is being defaced, and the city says it can't keep up"
"MANY years ago, the CSPD had a "Parks Police" that patrolled the city parks."
Yet more wonderful TABOR success stories. The assholes who vote R and to kill any tax increase won't be happy until this whole fucking city is just a pile of rubble.
MANY years ago, the CSPD had a "Parks Police" that patrolled the city parks. That was disbanded in the late 80's when traffic through the parks was MUCH less than now. It seems that it's time to bring the Parks Police back, and put a stop to this behavior and the numerous car break-ins occurring at virtually every park in town.
At the very least, CSPD officers assigned to the schools should be dedicated to the parks when school is out (or replace other officers who are assigned to the parks).
While the parks are safe from violent crime, things are getting out of hand with property crimes and unlawful behavior from visitors with an overabundance of "entitlement" complex.
Perhaps climbing should not be permitted.
thank god for sanity in the press...as again while the gazette not only blocks comments and steals stories they have the extreme gall to endorse a candidate who wants to rape our land for the almighty oil and gas dollar...I sure the hades dont want colorado to look like oklahoma or texas...but it will once boopreaz gets done with it...just a barren desert wasteland ...while he is laughin all the way to his climate controlled bunker ..
Prior to Irv Halter entering the CD5 race, Mr. Lamborn could have been deceased since narrowly defeating his primary opponent Bently Rayburn and still won the CD5 seat and retuned to Congress. But No!! He utters from his gravesite that all military generals opposed to President Obama should get together to retire en-mass to demostrate their disapproval of the President of the United States of America, further demonstrating that he knows very little of the military. Irv Halter is NOT BRAIN DEAD but very much alive, knows the military and what veterans go through. He is willing to discuss issues with an OPEN mind to learn and move this country forward regardless of party affiliation. Signed Brian Miller (R), PhD, MD, FACP, Col UASF MC ret., 100%DAV.
merrifield says a clean campaign? wow, what an oxymoron...by a moron
This is the best transit news I've heard in years! Thanks for covering the story J. Adrian Stanley! I can't wait!
I hope this article helps those who think person hood is a good idea that it is not intended to protect the fetus but punish the mother. Woman going to jail for making their own health decisions is why to vote NO on 67. A mother who loses a child should not have to serve probation after being legally prosecuted. Thank you csindy.
What a wonderful program and why not give it a chance, lord knows the standard treatments have proven to be very ineffectual. Bravo!
If you are uncertain if something you are going remove or teardown like a wall or duct/pipe insulation contains asbestos call the government immediately
OR put on a respirator, coveralls and wet the object down, tear it down and bag it up and send it to the landfill.
sbestos is everywhere- That wall you tore out in your home built in the 30's, 40's and 50's? The "popcorn" ceiling you had in your swanky 70's Brady Bunch House? The insulation that looks like a cast on your duct work? ALL ASBESTOS. Ten inch tiles are made with asbestos fibers in them and pose no risk unless you power sand them and huff the dust. It's all about litigation and "protecting" people.
