Re: “New laws and recommendations for local marijuana

Estimates show that marijuana is America’s number one cash crop. However, marijuana remains untaxed. This is a new source of income for our nation, an income we desperately need.

Over 500 of the nation’s top economic professors have shared their opinion in supporting the removal of prohibition and imposing the taxation and regulation of marijuana as a way to slow the federal deficit.

Marijuana prohibition is costing America upwards of $20 billion annually. The hemp industry would not only create jobs, it would free up court time and jail space for real criminals among many other benefits. The list could go on.

Re: “Marijuana to stay Schedule I; patients could possess more

The Feds want to keep it at a schedule 1 standard so they can continue to harrass the MMJ patient and citizens in legal marijuana states with the right to continue NO KNOCK breakdown of our doors and such just in case they think we're not following the law. It is a farse to think any state can legalize marijuana with this Federal standard hanging over our heads, and all our government reps care about is being able to collect tax money and not the rights of MMJ patients.

Guess what? We can all still be arrested Federally no matter what the state laws say and this will not change until the law on Schedule 1 for marijuana changes and the attitudes of our government progresses with current research on this medicinal drug being used by medical patients. We can still be fired from our jobs for not passing a standard drug test, and we will have difficulties with driving laws and with insurance companies not wanting to pay out on claims with MMJ patients, because they don't have to if we can be found DUID, and even when we are not on our medicine none of us would be able to pass a blood level test set as low as 5. I was tested and the facility told me someone with a contact buzz alone will hit a 15 on the blood test, so no person how smokes marijuana is a legal driver!

Amendment 64 will only confuse this issue further since we have difficulty with setting regulations with Amendment 20 more then 10 years after it has became legal, so who knows who or when will be allow to grow and sell this product on an open market.

Re: “National marijuana debate heats up

What a farse Amendment 64 has become! All the politicians care about is collecting tax money for marijuana! I'd like to see one politian stand up for MMJ patient rights and fight against the Schedule 1 standing. We can still be fired from our jobs, kicked out of rentals, arrested for DUID. The Federal law still trumps any State laws made, so guess what? we can still be arrested and not be able to show proof of licensing for Amendment 20 people.

Re: “National marijuana debate heats up

If Pot was legal,I would quit drinking that is much worse than pot. And I would feel better. This Gov has no right to tell me how I should live my life! I pay my taxes, have a steady job,and raised my family. If I want to relax after work with a joint, Thats my god given right

Re: “National marijuana debate heats up

Hey longtooth,

Currently there are no regulations regarding the growing of hemp, one way or the other. The Colorado Legislature has until July 1, 2014 to create them.

Re: “National marijuana debate heats up

Query: May hemp be grown legally in Colorado less than 1000 feet from a school? NE1?

Re: “More on El Paso County's marijuana ban

Ms. Clark - haven't we had enough of the war on drugs?

we have spent billions sending people to jail for possession of marijuana. We have thousands, if not millions of peoples lives ruined due to our drug war. But then maybe that's the whole purpose, instead of our legislators, city councilors etc seeing the positives of legalizing marijuana they continue to see the financial benefits of locking up the people who prefer marijuana to alcohol.

I am so tired of all of this crap - can't we move along, obviously we are going to have cannibis legalized within the next 20 years - why don't we be the first? stop banning what the people voted for.

Re: “More on El Paso County's marijuana ban

Give me a break Clark, you won't change your mind. Never. Ever. In a bazillion years.

But your hand will be out there grabbing all that Marijuana sales tax from sales made in the city limits won't it ? I didn't see a rider exempting sales made within the city limits from county tax.

Don't worry, we will just have to do things the way citizens do. Get signatures and override those representatives that fail to represent us.

Re: “Cannabiz: THC and driving (again)

The 5 nanogram limit is utter bs. This limit was imposed under the military piss test limit. It allows discovery of usage of pot up to 18 days after inhaling or consumption. So in effect they are stating you are impaired 18 days and should never drive a vehicle anytime after usage.

Those of us who have MMJ registry face a huge risk. How long before this registry is uploaded to the computer database of the Colorado Highway Patrol and local police cruisers?

We did the right thing. We registered ourselves to gain legitimate access to our medicine and this alone threatens us. Those who decided to continue to remain under the radar will never face such a risk.
