Should not be there in the first place. Had been me there would have been a few flat cones. Love to flatten cones!!!!
Tannim, let me get this straight - our current President, former Harvard Law Review editor, Constitutional Law professor who has a 57% approval rating and scares he crap out of Putin (as does NATO and the former Lady Secretary) is the fellow more than half the nation wants impeached? Math challenged, you are.
I would vote for Trump to be your operating surgeon any day - maybe he could correct your attitude with some fine hand gestures or something.
Mr Mabon, freedom from religion is every bit as important as freedom of religion. Tannim fails to acknowledge that the bible was written by men, and severely edited over the years. It stands on its own until some self-appointed direct line to the almighty wants to cherry pick and change interpretations.
CSIndyReader, if you are inferring that a retired General had a job that required him to make money (as in business?) you are looney. The military spends our money! When he finishes with the DoD he'll wind up at Boeing or Lockheed/Martin or some other tax dollar sucking defense contractor - or maybe as a lobbyist for all of them!
Howdy again, Longtooth! Rick Perry won't be a problem - he'll abolish his job and go back to Texas! That's if he remembers what his job is...
December 19th, folks - early Christmas if Trump doesn't get to 270!
Again, to correct my screw-up, the website is asktheelectors.org. Also, this claptrap about 'bound' electors is not going to fly very far when the unconstitutionality of it comes to the fore.
Makeitgreatonce: read Malcolm Nance's "The Plot to Hack America". Trump is interested in making Russia greater.
Thank you for the advice Mr. Tannim, but I have chosen to pursue understanding of The US Constitution, our form of government, and how it has changed, beyond what was superficially covered in High School.
To describe our government as a "REPUBLICAN form of government" is to not understand that "republican" is simply an adjective describing a republic...sorta like redundantly saying "a republic is a republican form of government".
And I tried to make it clear that the term "republic", by itself, is NOT an adequate description of our form of government, as there are governments around the world that label themselves "republic" that have NOTHING in common with the US form of governance. The US is much MORE than simply a republic... or, as you express: "REPUBLICAN".
But the point of my post (which you chose to ignore) is the dismissal of democracy as the ESSENTIAL word to describe the spirit, indeed the essence, of how we have historically viewed our nation and its aspirations. I'm of the notion that Conservatives do not like democracy, and your letter reenforces that notion.
Aside: The Liberal ideology to maintain and expand the "common good" is what protects "the the rights of the individual". Without government (a democratic one) your individual "rights" would be a pipe dream. "WE THE PEOPLE" protect the rights of the individual. Thats why our Constitution begins with THOSE three words...not "ME THE INDIVIDUAL".
Rabbi Mel: I guess blessed are the peacemakers, but Trump's "I have great respect" is hard to take seriously after the last 5 years of disrespecting President Obama. It's just another lie, from someone who seems to be unable to tell the truth about anything at all.
Wow. What an interesting headline. I wouldn't say its fizzling out to the 1000+ people I have supporting this petition on change.org that I fully intend on hand delivering Monday the 19th at the Utilities Board meeting at 1pm. (102 S. Tejon St in case anyone wants to join me) There are more people aware of this than you know. We will not be silenced. You want to know why I started the petition? Because its reprehensible that our own elected officials are lying to us and trying to punish the person calling them out on their BS. Clearly the power plant isn't sustainable. This is FACT. It's a horrible accident waiting to happen and is poisoning us all slowly with every breath we take. But carry on theres nothing to see here...Sweet. I love magic. If theres nothing sinister in the report why so scared to just let us all see it? What have you got to hide? My guess is ALOT.
We'll be protesting at noon outside the building if you want to come join us. Then be sure Ill be speaking to the Utilities Board.
Heres the link to my petition. Share it. Sign it. Come join me to hand it over.
Power to the People my friend.
We tried to tell them Trump was a stone cold liar, that his campaign promises were hot air and not going to happen. Bend over Trumpaloons, you're going to get schlonged by Don the Con who has already broken every promise he made to you.
Steve Bannon, Joe Corsi and a legion of others have made personal fortunes making up fictitious stories about the Clintons. The more egregious the lie, the louder they scream it. Think Joseph Goebbels. That the American voter is so self involved as to avoid paying attention to anything other than what potty-mouth Trump and his thugs dole out then we are truly lost.
I, for one, will continue to fight.
If you were fooled by Trump for all the time he was running for President then you are dumber than a box of rocks. P T Barnum would have been proud, and would have called each and every one of you a sucker.
It will NOT be a refreshing change to see a retired General as the Secretary of Defense. That's the surest way I know to see more tax dollars going to the defense industry and our young men and women heading off to fight another oil war somewhere. (BTW, the DOD is the largest consumer of petroleum products in the world, hence Rex Tillerson as Secty of State).
December 19th will either be our salvation or will seal the fate of the once-free world.
Wow, John, you're really missing the point here. We've got a "citizen owned" utility who chose to commission an air quality study, paid for by these citizen owners, yet they won't share the results of the study with the citizen owners who breathe the air! Where is the transparency?! Let's not fool ourselves. If the air quality study had come back with favorable results, CSU would be crowing about the excellence of our air and patting themselves on the back. Instead we have a complete refusal to share the data and ludicrous sanctions against the very person who is trying to bring out the truth. We all know what that means. THE AIR STUDY RESULTS ARE NOT GOOD! So not only is CSU behaving badly, but the Utilities Board has also been utterly silent. Here are elected officials who should stand up for their constituents but instead they've drunk the Kool-Aid and are total CSU puppets. It's really quite shameful and embarrassing. People ... elections are just around the corner!!!
a working man for the working man
outspent was the key! democracy for sale
Asawatcher: "I think what has most deeply concerned me over the last year or so is the Conservative assault on the cornerstone of the foundation of American ideological values.
Mr. Wolverton expresses that assault perfectly, claiming:
"You do not live in a democracy."
"Teach your children they do not live in a democracy.""
Clueless you are, padawan. The cornerstone of American values, as expressed in the Constitution, is a REPUBLICAN form of government, which means that the rights of the individual are respected and take precedence over the powers of government and majority rule.
Go back to high school civics and learn it correctly because it is rather obvious that you flunked it the first time.
Dave Joss: Here's an idea for you: HAVE A POINT.
Bob Wolverton: Well stated.
David Naumann: Changing the winner-take-all rule in the 48 states that have it doesn't require a constitutional amendment, just 48 state laws changed. "Updating" the Electoral College to a more proportional system is simple turning it into a scaled version of the direct democracy that you then state you're not ready to embrace. You can't have it both ways.
Melvin Glazer: You realize that your comments are on the Internet, which is the chief reason that which you lament doesn't happen?
I think what has most deeply concerned me over the last year or so is the Conservative assault on the cornerstone of the foundation of American ideological values.
Mr. Wolverton expresses that assault perfectly, claiming:
"You do not live in a democracy."
"Teach your children they do not live in a democracy."
It makes me wonder just what Mr. Wolverton thinks "We the People" means.
The term "Republic" does NOT, by itself, describe our political structure. The "R" in the old USSR for example, stood for Republic. And China (The Peoples Republic of...) is a representative republic. The representatives, however, are not chosen by the people, but by a convoluted process controlled by the Party.
Democracy is the ESSENTIAL word describing America's form of governing, and I wonder about those who are attempting to demean and disparage that concept.
We are in a domestic war against those who are out to destroy our democracy, and we just lost a very significant battle in that war. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and now the Electoral College are powerful weapons currently aimed at our democratic principles and values. The sooner we all realize that fact, the sooner we can rally Americans to fight against these weapons fashoned for the destruction of American democracy.
We DO live in a democracy (for the time being) and we should teach our children that America was founded on essential democratic principles, and just how precious those values are.
Wow! Have you looked over the roster on this White PINS Party? Dismantle just about everything! Perry? Really? Gonna be a bumpy ride going off the rails on a crazy train.
Mr Terryah, you can crow now, but wait til you have to learn Russian.
Mr. Joss, you are exactly right, provided we don't get the Electoral College relief we are entitled to in the Constitution. It is not a small, insignificant voice tacked on to the elective process - it is the final voice. Contact electors at http://myelectoralcollege.com and make your voice heard.
Mr Wolverton, This tyranny is facilitated by duplicity in false news, treachery from Breitbart and is the tyranny of the minority, not the majority. By definition, the majority in a democracy cannot be tyrannical - it is the will of the people. It just may not be the result YOU want, but that's democracy for you.
Mr Naumann, you are correct in assuming that the Electoral College is in place to prevent the potential outcome of this most divisive election.
Rabbi Glazer, I commend your humanity, but Trump began his campaign in the ugliest of arenas where he questioned the nationality and citizenship of our sitting President...and he never apologized. His clarion call to the 'white nationalists' (read - bigots and racists everywhere) still has them dancing in the streets (as opposed to the thousands of Muslims who DIDN'T dance in the streets of New Jersey, another blatant lie he never retracted). We ARE divided by this man and his hateful rhetoric. Join with the Hamilton Electors and prevent his ascent to power - not doing so will spell the beginning of the end of our way of life.
