Re: “Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country

BTW, because these people are actually criminals under this law, those helping them can actually be charged with aiding and abetting or under 8 US Code 1324, the latter usually being a felony.

"Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country "

Typical misleading headline. There is no threat to legal immigrants.

"But Trump's guidance, issued in January, upended the country's enforcement. That's because it defined "criminal" broadly enough to include everyone in the country without authorization like, say, all the women around this table. "

Again, misleading. Trump did not define what "criminal" is. Long established federal law, 8 US Code 1325 -- last changed over 20 years ago, actually makes them criminals, often felons. Trump is simply enforcing closer to the letter of the law.

This is a horrible accident and both families are grieving on so many levels. You both should be ashamed of yourselves and try to reach beyond your own limited capabilities of having feelings for people you don't know. Pathetic!

Re: “Reader: The Academy Chapel is a beloved national monument, you crazies

The Establishment Clause was never, ever meant to prohibit religion in public life, and all the screaming and squalling and red-faced, foot-stamping temper tantrum throwing by the secular Left will not change that. That became more certain with the appointment of Justice Gorsuch. I must admit that the temper tantrum throwing is entertaining. God Bless the USA, and God Bless the USAFA Chapel.

Re: “Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site hosts big Army drill

Not one word out of a person from Ft. Carson is the truth!! Those guys spew trash better that any garbage truck in America. Look at this picture--does that look like a barrow ditch with GRASS--Nope!! Just dust, dust and more dust. Wait until the wind starts up--those poor enlisted men had better have respirators or they will develop COPD--just a little while they are young but with age they will be totally disabled. If they haven't seen grey slime instead of lung tissue they had better get ready!!

Re: “Olympic Museum and ... what else in southwest downtown?

What a mess. I don't think the Olympic Museum is a good idea and I am willing to wager it won't draw many visitors. I think this whole City of Chumps debacle should be scrapped and, in it's place, invite actual community dialogue. Personally, if we are stuck on building a museum, then we should start with a children's science museum, including the influence Tesla, who lived in COS and has an awesome history here. But that's just my opinion, among the other opinions of all the thousands of people who live in the area. Why has this project come in so fast? Routons' article highlights that all contingencies are planned for- when was the public ever even consulted? What a mess

Re: “Olympic Museum and ... what else in southwest downtown?

Routon again proposes a STADIUM - this time to rebuild the aging AFA Falcon stadium downtown. What WONT the proponents of downtown revitalization think of next. Thankfully, as Routon says, this idea has no traction.

SW downtown's redevelopment, which has languished for 2 decades, has for many years had America the Beautiful Park and now will have the Olympic Museum as catalysts for redevelopment. And, as a URA. it is the recipient of City dollars. What is the reason that SW downtown is unable to fulfill its promise to provide infill housing and retail for COS?

Re: “Who thinks we should honor coal?

No one elected the Koch Bros to anything, but they control much of our government (at the federal, state and local levels) with their billions of dollars and octopus-like set of organizations. They, their fellow billionaires, and rivers of dark money are a threat to our democracy. Only way to fight them is to vote Democrat, just hold your nose and do it.

The piece in the Gazette reads like a press release from lobbyists, what crap.

Re: “Neumann Systems Group seems to have vanished

If you want to find Dr. Neumann just have CSU sue in court for ownership of the patents underlying this technology as CSU provided the money to prove the technology works and has an agreement to share income from sales. Dr. Neumann will show up asap to protect his nest egg, else lose his patents.

I suspect that since CSU proved the gear works that Dr. Neumann will declare bankruptcy so he can take his technology to China where he will license his patents to the Chinese who have hundreds of filthy coal plants to retrofit. He will become a billionaire and live high on the hog in Singapore for the rest of his day.

This is a classic case of using taxpayer money to get started then going elsewhere to make your fortune without paying back the taxpayers or honoring your deal with CSU. Anyone have a better scenario?

Re: “Reader: Public broadcasting is a worthy investment

Gina's response to my letter only proves that America public media truly does appeal to progressives leftists like herself and is run by those who favor Big Centralized Government shaping our culture. Let us look at one of her quotes.

"I think, more than anything, corporate shills like Lamborn want to prevent another Mapplethorpe being funded. Mapplethorpe's art, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, helped shape the change of public opinion that led to legal gay marriage and wider acceptance of LGBT people. That kind of change terrifies our corporate masters, because it creates unpredictability."

Gina is referring to a photographer named Robert Mapplethorpe who died of AIDS/HIV in 1989. According to her; its people like Mapplethorpe (at taxpayers expense) who helped America become more tolerant of the LGBTQ...MOUSE (my emphasis added) and accepting of redefining marriage to not being limited to one man/one woman. Since she brings up the NEA (not the teachers union); let me remind you of Andres Serrano who got a grant for taking a jar and taking a leak into it and dumping a crucfix into it (Piss Christ). God does not exist but yet you want to mock God and his possible existence and those who do believe that God exists. Would Metallica ever hear of him without this grant? By the way Serrano's work 'Semen and Blood III' graces their 1996 album "Load." Gina would say yes. I say not necessary. They may have or not have known about Piss Christ. Still Gina Douglas give the impression that most people are stupid, and we need Government to enlighten us to the works of people that Gina prefers.

I don't read John Grisham but he writes books that have mass appeal. He was interviewed by public TV's darling Bill Moyers as well.

Their are forms of public media I do admit I enjoy. The popular News Information format is not one of those forms. However the Public Radio News/Talk stations according to Arbitron are the most listened to public radio formats overall. KQED -FM in San Francisco and WAMU in Washington DC have been the most listened to radio stations in their respected markets. KUOW in Seattle and KNOW in Minneapolis-St. Paul has been ranked in the top five; and WGBH-FM and WBUR in Boston are in the top ten. While this not the case in every market the most listened to public radio station is the one broadcasting a News oriented format which includes NPR's flagship shows Morning Edition and All Thing Considered. These big stations do get a lot of taxpayer support thanks to their matching grants given to stations that have been able to raise a significant amount of money. It is just another wealth redistribution scheme.

Gina thinks that people like me are stupid. That is just propaganda from snowflakes like her who hate the free market and free enterprise (and corporate America has bent over backwards for the LGBT Community and they are not dirt poor overall) and look for any excuse for a Government that is leaning towards European Socialism if not Soviet styled Communism instead of the limited Goverment envisioned by our founders (regardless if they were Christian or Not)
