I just want to chime in on this discussion about the Indy listings. I personally book bands in the area and amazed when they actually get it correct in the paper. More times than not they mess it up. I've had the days wrong, the names of the bands wrong, the venue wrong on many ocasions. The worst was the time they listed a band as another band that hadn't played for over five years! The Indy is pretty terrible when it comes to being a go to music source. I just use jambase.com now if I'm serious about doing anything. I would recomend that any musician, booking agent, bar, club etc, in this area serious about getting your listings correct use jamebase.com. You won't regret it.

My problem is his blurb is a disservice to the Colorado Springs music scene. The scene here could be so much better if there were more people involved with writing the "Reverb" column. A rotating list of columnists with different musical focuses would be a good start. I do agree it's hard to catch everything but frankly when I see major stuff get overlooked constantly it gets discouraging. Look at the bands Boulder, Denver, and Fort Collins get and then take a look at the bands we get, it pales by comparison. We could have a music scene as good if not better than those cities but there isn't any reason for them to come this way. The paper should be trying to build a better and more diverse scene not just help out a the bands that some guy likes.

So is your problem that there are no comprehensive lists in the Colorado area -- lists or otherwise rather -- or that you just really dislike this particular blurb?

I'm not asking for a list. His focus is myopic at best and he only chooses to write about the bands he is friends with. Don't get me started about the conflict of interest he has when it comes to reporting his own mediocre band. I could give you a list of MAJOR artists that have come through the springs that were just passed by and ignored by his column. I do like some of the bands he reports on but man there are so many that never even get mentioned in his column. For the record the csindy calendar is worthless. It is hardly ever right except for the few bands who have an in with the paper. That is the last place I would ever go for what is going on around here.

The blurb is a small portion of what's going on, or what Adam chose to write about. Adam can't simply write about every band coming to the area, it would end up as a list. And if you want that (a list) check the calender located on the Csindy homepage.

Once again another worthless "Reverb" I've been seeing music in the southern colorado region for over 4 years and most of the band I see are never mentioned here. I have seen some killer national acts come through the springs with not even a peep about it. This is the most worthless column I have ever read. If you want to find music in this area look for another source.

55 years, huh? Interesting. Go back to the homepage..(http://www.csindy.com/gyrobase) in the right hand column of content under the "Recent Comments" section you'll see a section called "Calendar." There you'll see two tabs: Events and Music. Click on the music tab, select the date you're interested in and then click GO. It's cake.

Note that KCME is now having a problem for the first time with their fund raising. They really messed up. First, I feel they have completely compromised their mission and reason for existence, i.e., to bring quality broadcasting to the public that is not otherwise commercially viable or available. I don't know if there are other radio sources of Jazz programming in Colorado Springs, but their sure aren't back here in the mountains where KCME operates a number of translators. And, second, they didn't just cut any old jazz program, they cut what was rated one of the premier jazz programs in the entire United States. Unforgivable. Dominowski uses the excuse we can get our Jazz from Sirius Radio now. Well, I've got news for them, I can get a lot more and better classical programming from Sirius as well. So, if I'm going to pay for Sirius, why would I want to contribute to KCME? It's just so sad. Lenny gave us a nice break from listening to classical all the time. If KCME now fails, I hope Jeanna Wearing is proud of herself. Every time I hear their new "motto", "All Classical KCME" I am so irritated I get mad all over again.

Unfortunately you are wrong. To compare Bloom to a Tenori-On is completely missing the point about Tenori-On. Bloom is a wonderful iphone application but is not comparable to Tenori-On in any other way other than the fact that they both make sound and use electricity.

Truth spoken from a man of truth; if only from his truly unique and individual perspective, what Peter sees is so uncommonly heard as to make an impact of biblical proportions. Though he sees no God to save us, that in itself is the call - Stand up and save yourselves by not surrendering to every whim and passing fancy that turns the public's eye. Be original, feel it in your heart, and for crying out loud, whic is sometimes what Peter does, LIVE IT. BE TRUE TO YOURSELF!. I don't know Peter, but I'd bet my last dime, he treats everyone with respect and dignity. We should all be so unswayed by popularity.

Re: Stupid Boy, Smart Girl. "...include NRBQ founder and Nashville hit-writer Big Al Anderson..." NRBQ began in Louisville, KY in 1966. Terry Adams and Steve Ferguson (one of Big Al's biggest influences) were the founders. By the time Al joined in 1971, the band already had a couple of records out on Columbia. So he was not one of the founders, but he certainly did "pass the audition," and then some!

John is amazing. I went to his show last night, he incorporated the whole band and songs that just had him playing. Even though I the first album is my favorite, the second album just brings a rockstar appeal to him, since he brings in a full band!

Six plays the most down and dirty rock and roll I have heard in a long time. If you did seeing GREAT live music and see they are playing in your neck of the woods, it'd be a wise decision to check em out.
