Re: “Does CSPD need a citizen advisory board?

Of course it does. How can you have any confidence in a government that cannot even take care of their streets?

Re: “UPDATE: City Councilor: I trust the cops

My guess is that these people have never had a run in with the law - thus they haven't any experience to base their opinion on.

Re: “Suthers: Cops well trained in use of force

Already have Lathen generating bad press - is it necessary to bring in Al Sharpton?

Re: “Suthers: Cops well trained in use of force

Unfortunately, the CSPD's precursor to a Union--the Police Protective Association--has donated handsomely to Mayor Suthers, and Councilmembers Bennett, Gaebler, King, Strand and Bagley. One should not expect any accountability to be demanded by elected officials who have a vested political/financial interest to the contrary.

He is an ex District Attorney. Everyone knows DAs think cops can do no wrong. Its part of the reason police departments never have to address the issue.

Re: “Two city measures headed for November ballot

You can not use public tax money to build pet projects for your Crony buddies and then ask for more taxes to fix the roads.

That is ABSURD.

Re: “Two city measures headed for November ballot

Ummm, I thought we exceeded the TABOR limits because of increased revenue from marijuana taxes. Aren't federal grants for post fire and flood mitigation supposed to be used specifically for fire and flood mitigation? Grants aren't REVENUE from taxes, so how could those grants put us over the TABOR limits? What am I missing here? I'm sorry, but something smells really fishy here!

Re: “Suthers: Cops well trained in use of force

Has Pam ever had any use of force training? Might be something to look into to provide a better perspective. Most people, investigative reporters, civic leaders, etc, who go thru use of force training walk away with a very new view. Not saying that CSPD is innocent, just that it would be a great departure from Pam's normally very one sided reporting and she might learn a heck of a lot.

Re: “Two city measures headed for November ballot

You haven't seen anything yet. The real crime of C4C is the funneling of $100 million local tax dollars into developers pockets instead of into roads and other projects - thus council will be asking you again and again to make up the difference.

Re: “Bear killed illegally in southwest Springs

Do residents of this area hear gunfire so frequently that it never gets their attention?

Re: “NORAD returns to Cheyenne Mountain bunker, sorta

The mountain is and always will be the best solution for any possible threat or natural disaster. It is deep enough to serve as a lifeboat for humanity in the event of a large asteroid impact and is easily defended with a small force of troops. This is without a doubt the best way to prevent human extinction from natural and man made threats. If anything more just like it should be built, even deeper, in the highest mountain ranges in our nation with deep underground transit systems connecting them all.

Re: “Confederate-flag burning scheduled for Fourth of July

happyfew - Allow me to simplify this for you.

"the Republican Party has been trying to help"

Those are not my words. That is a direct quote from the chairman of Baltimore's NAACP Criminal Justice Committee. See more at the link I provided.

Do you attempt to comprehend what you read? Or do you just reflexively vomit out party line talking points?

Re: “Confederate-flag burning scheduled for Fourth of July

"the Republican Party has been trying to help"
help keep them from voting
help keep them going to prison
help keep them in certain parts of town
help keep racist symbols around for them to see
help keep drug laws in place and unfair sentencing practices
help keep welfare a stigma and attach unrepresentative African american symbolism to it
yeah....they are a BIG help

Re: “Confederate-flag burning scheduled for Fourth of July

Headline: "Liberal Machine Hinders Civil Rights Progress"

Hassan Giordano, chairman of the Baltimore NAACP’s Criminal Justice Committee:
"Blind allegiance to the Democratic Party hinders true civil rights progress"

“It’s this liberal machine that [the NAACP] bows down to which does nothing to help them in the long run,” Giordano said. “Actually, it kind of hurts them.”

"...the left is not active in helping the NAACP further its mission, the Republican Party has been trying to help and get involved. But their altruism is almost always being denied so that the NAACP can mold to the liberal public image."
