Re: “UPDATE: 360 homes now categorized as 'total loss,' according to sheriff

It is so refreshing to have information reported on the locations and extent of the fires. Maketa is on top of this fire! The reports on this fire are a vast improvement from what the "officials" wouldn't tell us during the Waldo fire.

I was evacuated during the Waldo fire and I could get no information about the fire location, boundaries, homes impacted, etc. I hope the people in charge have learned that if you keep people in a vacuum, the void will be filled with something. Bach, Forte, Marr, et. al., are you observing and learning?

Re: “Colorado Springs issues voluntary evac notice for northern tip of city

Robert...last year, none of the donated money went to fire victims, it was totally absorbed by administration making rules to make it so hard to get the support that no one got it.

Re: “Colorado Springs issues voluntary evac notice for northern tip of city

I shake my head and wonder why an article like this has to be written about evacuating due to a forest fire. How is that GD dumb? A list of what to take with you includes money clothes food....really?? Take money? Other websites have people volunteering to store horses! If you own horses you have a lot of money unless you are super stupid. So, take the burden off the insurance companies that have collected money for years and donate so that State Farm et al can keep the cash they charged homeowners. Such nice folks we have around here that they would help insurance companies in their time of need... "GI Joe Pork chop sandwiches" is a youtube search term for you to use

Good fire coverage on the Denver Post web site, apparently they have a reporter on staff, in contrast to the Gazette that simply has someone with scanner sitting in an office downtown.

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

Doesn't matter whether you hate or like Doug Bruce -- the man has a constitutional right to be heard on the issues. Deny that right and you show your lack of understanding of this nation's founding principles. On this one, I think he makes a lot of sense.

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

More taxpayer money, down the toilet. If El Paso County harrassed its constituents with costly and needless "security," the commissioners would be recalled.

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

I never thought I would agree with the Dougster on anything, but he and Collins are right this time. The Mayor thinks of himself as the second coming of JFK. Along with Queen Suzi, he struts his stuff with a coterie of cops surrounding him. Another brain dead Council sheepishly does whatever His Royal Highness wants. The more things change, the more they get worse in C-Springs.

I haven't heard anybody talk about how the fire started. Anybody know?

Re: “Following the Black Forest Fire (and other fires)

Terry Maketa is doing his typical good job...clearly correcting in his capacity all the mistakes of last summer made by the city.

Remember what' a small percentage of what was donated last dummer was actually given to fire victims, a huge percentage going to administration with primarily bottled water going to the victims was about it.

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

Who cares what Doug, the convicted felon, Bruce has to say? What he says or does has no relevance. Please stop giving him any newspaper coverage. People do not care what he has to say. He thrives on attention which is very apparent when he comes into city offices or CSU. He struts around demanding attention and being rude and disrespectful to employees, customers, police officers, and anyone else that he can gain attention from. I am amazed that he thinks he still has the ability to influence people. He needs to crawl back into one of his dilapidated houses and move on with his life.

"... he really got agitated when Council President Keith King called for a motion and second on the security measures vote before inviting the public to comment on the matter...."

YOU in the GOP voted for the "strong mayor" and the wife beater. Shut up, bend over and try not to vote for these jerks next time.

Re: “City chooses Serco for fleet contract

Goldsabbath, here is an excerpt from a KRDO interview with CM Pico:

"Both Pico and the mayor's chief of staff maintain that Pico has recused himself from all conversations regarding fleet changes...Once I was elected, I made sure Colorado Springs city administration was also aware," said Pico. "Talked to the city attorney, made sure everything was fire-walled and that I was isolated from anything to do with the contract...Chief of Staff Laura Neumann said Pico had nothing to do with the city's decision.

"The process started long before Andy Pico ran for council or certainly was elected for council," said Neumann. "So the process was well underway, the short list was well underway. And he had no influence whatsoever in our decision."

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

Just don't let the mayor near the Black Forest fire...fortunately the sheriff is in charge of that one. Oh that's right...the sheriff was supposed be in charge of Waldo Canyon, it is just that mayor wouldn't let him.

Re: “Coming soon to city offices: more security

Thank goodness Mr. Bach is a fiscal conservative.

What the heck - how in the world can he call himself that. And if the republicans re-elect him or anyone like him they are just as pathetic locally as they are nationally.
