Ok, can I just say that for an article about the best of what Colorado Springs has to offer, I'm seeing a lot of the worst of this city. You can disagree with the policies and politics of the military, but don't trash the soldiers. I don't agree with it either, but I won't tell those in my family who've bravely agreed to take on a responsbility I would never choose that their choice is one that makes them bad people. For those who don't know, when you join the military you don't get to pick and choose the issues you are willing to fight for. You say, "I'm here, I'm willing to stand up for my country, and I'm going to do it to the best of my ability." Not, "I'm here, I'm willing to stand up, but only if we can run through the pros and cons of each issue first." The ones who are responsbile for that are those in charge of our government, not our soldiers. You wouldn't blame an assembly line worker for the failures of GM, would you? Don't blame the men and women who fight for us for the past mistakes of previous administrations.

What exactly am I supposed to thank a soldier for? Thank you for executing policies that make Americans hated worldwide. Thank you for blowing up those annoying brown people who are stupidly sitting on our resources. Thank you for torturing prisoners and sending pics to your buddies so the world can know how barbaric we Americans can be. Gee, I have so much to thank those soldiers for. I'm so proud to be an American.

I'm wondering why the military is even part of this commentary, shame on you for not being thankful for all the sacrifices that are made daily by our military. You should THANK a soldier the next time you see one! As far as the Haute Cuisine, I'm wondering when this town will have a "best of" for local businesses only, national chains should not be included.

Man! The previous poster can't even post a comment on the local food scene without hating on the military? In these harsh economic times, I think you should be pretty grateful that your have military folks here to support your local businesses. Ft Carson pumps a half a billion dollars into Colrado Springs just on construction alone. Daily, 2000 workers are employed just by the Ft Carson expansion and that is expected to last through 2010. Another good thing about having military folks around: they are all employed -- unlike yourself.

I stumbled a bit over your editorial selection of Nelson's as the best barbershop in town. I'm sure Nelson's is a fine place, but there's more to a barbershop than getting a haircut. For instance, does Nelson have institutional knowledge of political happenings around town? How long has he been in business? Can he keep a conversation going while keeping private things told to him in confidence? Did the writer ask whether he could be bled at Nelson's? After all, that's what the red and white barber pole outside is all about. No, there's only one barbershop in Colorado Springs that qualifies as number 1 and that's Herb's, number 2 in your article. Herb not only cuts your hair while you're alive, he'll cut it after you're gone. Well, I'm not sure about that last part, but he sometimes goes to nursing homes to cut the hair of clients who no longer can visit his shop. Lots of people cut hair. Herb's a friend who doesn't forget who you are from one haircut to another. He may not bleed people either but he's certainly number one in my book.

This is so well-deserved. Jon clearly retains the spirit of snowboarding in Blindside. He is all about the experience, stocking good quality stuff, not the most hyped and sharing unbiased advice. He is also all about sharing the love of the sport and sharing his passion. We got talking about boards one day and he asked how I liked my board -- another Colorado brand. I told him I really liked it. He shared that it was indeed a good brand and then suggested I try a Venture just for grins, so I demo'd one this last winter -- no pressure, just a curiosity. I am buying one this fall. I truly believe it wasn't about the sale, but was about sharing the love of the brand and the sport. Finally, Jon's board and ski tuning is amazing and his customer service is purely about service -- there is no hidden agenda here. If you love to ride (skis or boards) you need to swing by. Great shop, great guy. Good for the sport and the Springs to be sure.

Just a note the kitchen at Will's Sport Bar has closed. Very bad decision as they had some of the best tasting food for a sports bar.

This is for the so called "best bust". First of all, this is why I pulled this so called paper from my restraunts. Check your facts- nothing was confinscated from Shrap Metal- I repeat-nothing.Thats why they're still open.Let me know when SOMEONE from the media wants to state the actual truth about ANYTHING then maybe I'll listen. I would like to see these "local" papers that tend to take a focus on "local" issues limit these best of awards to business' that remain local. As a community paper the focus of support should be local business. The springs has a wonderful nich for small independent business and they could all use a little help getting the spotlight their way in this society that shops more on brand recognition than quality.

If you're blaming the votes, why blame the paper? oh i c wut i did thar lol. You think they fixed it...well it is a pretty important election with millions of dollars on the line. I can see why you think that.

Well, I suppose if you're going to have delusions you may as well go for the really satisfying one. People join the military because they have no hope of finding a good job where they grew up and weren't smart enough for a college scholarship. When we take these losers and ship them over to a war zone they play out a combination of their Steven Segal fantasies and their most depraved sexual predatory natures. Such a great model of what America is all about. Yeah, thank you so very much for that.
