Re: “City for Champions hits snags, generates controversy

Instead of anyone spending $28M for any stadium, that sum of money would be vastly better spent building the youth sports complex known as the Scott Hall Field of Dreams on the abandoned Colorado Crossing site. Let's do something for OUR kids and not the hotel and bar tourist trade.

Suthers' "Bridge to Nowhere" is a great idea to make it easy for the homeless population to get around and annoy what visitors we do have. Once word gets out on Yelp that ATB Park is swarming with homeless dudes swilling T-Bird and smoking weed watch how quickly it becomes a ghost town. But it will become a mecca for police activity, er, I mean an OJT site for new cops.

NO STADIUM. NO AIRCRAFT MUSEUM. NO BRIDGE. NO WASTED TAX FUNDS

Re: “Neumann Systems Group will close shop after two decades due to changing energy market

All patents and copyrights associated with this technology should revert to CSU and the taxpayers of this city, as we provided the money to build and prove the efficacy of the design and construction.

Our city should then market this technology to coal-fired power plants around the world as there is a dire need for improvement in air quality, especially in China.

We should not let Dr. Neumann, and/or any of his associates, walk away with these patents and milk foreign markets for billions unless our city gets the share it was promised in the original agreement.

Where is our "STRONG MAYOR" on making sure our city enjoys the revenue stream it was promised -- or has he been bought off, like all the other GOP types.

Re: “Olympic Museum and ... what else in southwest downtown?

"There's no doubt the Olympic Museum will be breathtaking. But what else will complete the surrounding area? " This article really misses the elephant in the room. The wonderful new museum's direct neighbor will be the eyesore Drake coal power plant. Maybe drawing more attention to this dinosaur will finally convince CSU to shut it down.

Re: “UPDATE: Cleanup costs for Colorado Springs downtown land: $4.4 million

I am a supporter of Richard Skorman and pleased to see him in a leadership role. That said, after all the abuse he has taken in recent months, I find it disheartening to have a report of him speaking to a citizen in such a rude matter as president of City Council.

Contrary to current thought, politeness on all sides is necessary and sadly lacking. Shouting people down and dismissing them rudely leads to one thing -- mob rule. There is no need for this behavior anywhere. A citizen, has every right to speak. She is part of the public and if the ideas aren't out there, they can't be considered. It's called free speech.

how does your church say to treat others??? are you truly a moral caring person or are you not???

Re: “Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country

The other two commenters, you can't actually believe that you could argue reason and facts with people who write articles like this, do you? I mean, the author goes so far as to say "...the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) focus was purportedly on removing undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes, but people with very minor infractions often got swept up.." So it's telling me that illegal (undocumented) immigrants with VERY (as if there's a difference between minor and very minor???) minor infractions aren't actually "criminals" convicted of crimes? Seriously? THEY'RE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AND THAT'S A F#%KING CRIME!!!

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs reaches settlement in racial profiling case

Olinyks comment about Blacks that " crime sometimes seems the only way to survive" I feel needs to be addressed. An ignorant comment and a racist view or a view by someone who has had little to do with learning history. As it is said about history and not learning from it that one will repeat it. The lowest common denominators in society force us all to their level all too often.
What some do not understand is that of the many groups or cultures living here there are some that are targeted. From harassment to murder, those the United States government wishes to control are blamed for outrageous acts against "proper society" As Olinyk demonstrated in his Blacks=crime comment, government's tactics work quite well on those who do not think it through or see a pattern of behavior. Government simply studies these groups and observes what they do. When the appropriate activity is found it is criminalized. The War on Drugs began this way. Cocaine use by Blacks was demonized in the media and laws then were passed. Shortly thereafter police were shooting "crazed" Black men in the back and it was justified, thanks to a racist law. Plains Indians were forbidden to perform their private ritual known as the sun dance. And Opium being outlawed was to target Chinese immigrants. Marijuana targeted Mexicans in the 1930s. All the way to the 1960s when hippie liberal Democrats saw the criminalization of LSD and were constant targets. Humans using drugs goes back to the beginning of time and it is a boon for a government that wishes to control or eliminate certain groups. History shows that this is absolutely the case and not the way they would like you to believe.
The recent rewriting of The Civil War history is a glaring example of government propaganda and control. Suddenly the noble and valiant Northerners are the heroes who fought to free slaves. Wrong and absurd as well. Free the slaves into what? "You are free, go along now" "Go where?" "I don't know, you're free, now go, you cannot stay here because you are free. Get it?" Young white men in blue uniforms sacrificing their lives for Black slaves?? No way. The Civil War was about money, tax and trade. Ask yourself; if it was about slavery then why did it take 100 years before The Civil Rights Act was signed into law. No big rush was there?
Actual crime is generally committed by sociopaths regardless of their ancestry, social or financial standing. Using and/or selling drugs was not a crime at all until 100 years ago. Barrack Obama used drugs so was that his blackness showing? No.
Olinyks has shown nothing has changed and as wordy as he is he still cannot grasp what "profiling" means or maybe he does. He will probably tell us. I can't wait. He will help us lose Rights and live in fear of police, he will take us back to the stone age.

Re: “Trump to skip Air Force Academy graduation

I did not vote for Trump. However, in all fairness, Trump is not skipping the AFA. Instead he is speaking at one of the other FOUR institutions that presidents rotate through. Pres Obama spoke at the AFA last year, and the normal rotation would put the president at the Naval Academy this year. This is a list of Obama's graduation speeches each year: https://www.google.com/amp/www.nj.com/articles/18376199/here_are_the_other_graduations_president_obama_has.amp

However, due to a scheduling conflict with an overseas trip, Trump is speaking at the coast guard graduation this year instead of the Naval Academy. This is one of the FOUR places in the rotation, not three as your article states. https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/04/19/trump-to-keynote-us-coast-guard-academy-graduates-on-may-17.amp.html

See also this April 13th article (before Trump's Coast Guard speech was finalized) that details the four year rotation and the scheduling conflict: http://www.theday.com/article/20170413/NWS09/170419674

I don't care for Mr Trump at all. But your article is unfair. It leaves the reader with the impression he is snubbing the AFA. That is simply not true. He was not due to speak here this year, and he is in fact speaking at one of the four institutions where presidents speak each year.

Your point about speaking at a religious institution graduation is indeed worthy of examination, but it's unfair to frame your article as though he is speaking at Liberty instead of the AFA.

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs reaches settlement in racial profiling case

Olinyk! How dare you presume my levels of respect or disrespect. I asked you to guess why you may think I was profiled and a traffic stop occurred, more than once I will add. Police cannot stop someone without reason, and one does not not have to provide ID either. They asked for ID from the passenger in that car, and they had no cause. They also had firearms drawn, so should I assume it was a felony stop?
My response was not "kneejerk" and was actually a short version of what I almost posted yesterday. I will point out that your first comment was pure racist and bigoted hogwash, and one might guess you are a white supremacist just by what you stated. Would CSPD really like you defending their practices? Your answer will be quite interesting, and CSPD's would be even more so.
While you may specialize in claptrap, and the Indy is always trying to make a rose stink, I am a supporter of The Bill of Rights. There is but one race: Human. We have Rights granted by our creator and guaranteed by The Constitution. Spin it any way you wish, but your view will not stand up under the scrutiny of even the dimmest light of day. To those who are not as blond haired and blue eyed as you are, you owe an apology.
As for manners: I have them, but they will not be exercised or exhibited for the likes of you.

Not speaking at the AFA but speaking at an Evangelical University? Well, if that isn't the most Un-American thing I've ever heard of... What a douchebag and an embarrassment.

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs reaches settlement in racial profiling case

Mr. Wyman's statement that, as a white person he has been treated in a manner that he does not deem appropriate, gives credence to the fact that the police are more even-handed than he may purport. Obey the requests and commands of a police officer and there will be far less trouble and whining by amateur "filmmakers." Body cameras do, indeed, make a police officer more cautious primarily because we live in a litigious society with a large population segment that is disrespectful to the point of being confrontational -- much like Mr. Wyman's kneejerk response. Manners have fallen by the cultural wayside.

Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs reaches settlement in racial profiling case

Greg Olinyk! They should make you minister of propaganda. And where does this slavery nonsense you spew enter in to any of this? CSPD profiles, they have done it to me and I am white. I will leave it to you Greg Olinyk to guess why.
Guns drawn for a traffic stop is a "tell". If the officers felt they were in danger they would have stayed back with their vehicle. What was the cause of the stop anyway? Driving while black?
Your whole comment is pure idiocy and nonsense.

Re: “Digital video providers could be the end of your cable bill

Hey something I want to put on there that will be briefly mentioned in my upcoming article- AVOID KODI.

As I want to keep in my article, recall in the 80's those "legal" cable box channel descramblers? They did not last, did not work well (KODI with add-on's is better), and were illegal.

Well KODI, the software that most of those Chinese KODI boxes are loaded with require additional software and often makes them illegal if not at least VERY VERY close. The boxes support drop quick as well- good luck suing an overseas overnight company that changes names (even in this country).

They you are on your own. Then you are really stuck doing illegal practices to get those illegal channels.

HBO, NETFLIX, etc.- legal??? No my friend, not. Not for long anyways in the USA.

I'd put money on that one.

I am open to discussion.

Re: “Finding cheap internet is not easy

Hey- I get excited when I see a "ditch witch" running full time around my neighborhood. I truly hope FIOS/fiber is coming.

FOLKS!!!!! DID YOU KNOW THAT VERIZON FIOS OFFER 750 Mbs download speeds (same upload speed) for $70 in some markets? It's a no brainer if they don't have a data cap or now worse than Comcast at 1 Terabyte (our local shackles).

I would personally LOVE TO HAVE THAT. I hope things change. Let's all help one another out.

I feel a petition coming on. Anyone agree?
