Re: “Mixed blessings

I can see why people don't like this.. it's because they don't understand what the ministry is all about.
Have you ever judged someone or something so completely based on what you first saw? You didn't talk to the person, you didn't know their story and you certainly didn't understand them; but once you did, you realized how wrong you were? Well I know a lot of people misunderstand Andrew Wommack and this article definitely takes what he says out of context. Andrew comes from a place of genuine, Godly love and he is just trying to help people be truly fulfilled in life. Andrew is probably one of the most kind and respectable men on this earth, so please don't judge someone you don't know, as well as the ministry and the people in it. As for the "unaccredited" school, there is a reason for that. So that the ministry focuses on the Bible for what it is and what it says, which is of grace and love, rather than having to fulfill certain other little requirements like math that doesn't have anything to do with the Word of God.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and God gives us a free will, but if you don't like to be judged then don't go judging either. Andrew does not judge an individual as "immoral", just the lifestyle or choice; he is simply stating what's written in the Bible. Most can agree that cheating on your partner or lying or stealing is immoral, but that doesn't define the person. Maybe someone was starving, or in a bad situation and couldn't afford food, nobody would blame the person for stealing some bread, but that doesn't change the fact that the action was still illegal. Andrew recognizes that and I will admit, sometimes it's hard to hear that when a lot of controversial things are coming out of his mouth. But that's why its so important to understand what his message is rather than hearing "gay... immoral" and just jumping to conclusions. And anytime there is an incomplete or broken up quote, don't always trust it.

I agree with Craig, the food scene here does suck. Looking forward to all the offerings over at Ivywild.

Re: “Thanks to one devoted staff member, the walls of Ivywild have plenty to say

I can't wait to go back and have all the memories of my years spent there come flooding back to my mind. Mrs. Lane (Eggleston) IS Ivywild Elementary. Both of my siblings and myself attended Ivywild from the late 80's into the 90's. There is still a tile that I made in an art class taught by Mrs. Lane-Eggleston on a wall of the old school turned brewery, along with many others that students of Ivywild made. Those tiles still being there as the school is transformed reassures me just how much this school has meant and still means to so many people!

Ground zero on guns...ground zero on immigrants...ground zero on gays...why don't all you people from California go back and clean up the mess you created there and not inflict us with your liberal ideas and the bankruptcy they will create.

Re: “Colorado in the immigration debate

THESE OLD SENATE WAR HORSES SHOULD BE PUT OUT TO PASTURE AND THE ALL THE REST SEEM TO HAVE DIMENSIA AND FORGOT WHO THEY WORK FOR? MAXIMUM PRIORITY SHOULD BE ON THE 10 MILLION PLUS JOBLESS AMERICANS AND NOT PANDERING TO THE SPECIAL INTEREST LOBBY?

The only Senator, who has the Americans security in mind, is Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, stating, “The federal government has reached a point now where virtually no one is being deported, except those convicted of serious crimes." I heard what that old War Horse Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont had to say on cable, which majority Americans see it as very poor performance, that doesn’t place any tough enforcement for the border (the 2006 Secure fence Act) that still remains in stasis, and that double layer fence only occupies 17 miles in San Diego County and remains so approximately 8 years. Than this Gang of Eight and 16 others have just about rejected any of the tough amendments that would stifle the next waves of another illegal alien invasion. As Sessions said today this immigration enforcement has not been fixed? I think the chairman of the judicial committee Leahy stays measurably unclean, after negotiating with the unions, La Raza, Dept of Commerce the giant agricultural mega companies, tech companies, pro-immigration organizations and the other special interests behind closed doors. It is also without doubt the billionaire Socialist George Soros is involved, specifically on the Lefts mild Communistic agenda. Instead of playing into the unethical hands of the money people, the irrational Senators could have gained some acceptance by adding the triggers. If this Senate bill 477 passes as it is, America is dead economically? Millions of Americans still jobless will be up against the 10 to 25 million who’s suddenly become legal and can then compete to be hired. ALL THE TRIGGERS BUT A FEW WERE DISMISSED AS IRRELEVANT BY THE GANG OF EIGHT?

Sen. Leahy and his colluding Senators have done nothing to stop massive welfare payouts to illegal aliens and their offspring now or in the future. The Border Patrol spokesman Crane has been restrained from arresting criminal aliens along the border by order of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton, but my guess it comes from the White House, and that even ICE agents in internal enforcement have NO CONFIDENCE in DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. Health care coverage for newly legalized immigrants is emerging as a barbed concern in Congress’ driving to remake the nation’s immigration system, that is posing problems for Senate negotiators and threatening to derail when it reaches the House. The question is how much access to taxpayer-subsidized healthcare should be granted to immigrants who were here illegally and are embarking on a pathway to citizenship. Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano mounted a vigorous defense of the Senate Gang of Eight’s comprehensive immigration plan Tuesday, declaring the legislation an “important first step” to reforming the nation’s immigration laws. Then again under senate 477, she would have the total power over running the immigration laws, which would be a crisis in the making, and as we are all well aware the taxpayers will get all the costs to incur the path to citizenship, processing for the millions, medical examinations and those who get a working visa, able to sponsor close family seniors, progeny that will need retirement, social security programs. The fines that are supposed to be imposed, is just a $1000.00 and Sessions in imparted, that just like the previous punishments for breaking the law, it will never be enforced? WHO PAYS FOR THIS? YOU ARE THE PAYEE!

THIS LAW IS FAR WORSE THAN EVEN THE 1986 IMMIGRATION REFORM & CONTROL LAW (IRCA) AND WILL EVEN NULLIFY THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS. THIS LAW IT’S SO SOFT BECAUSE THE WORK MAGNET IS STILL THERE, DRAWING MORE TO THE BORDER AND NOT DEPARTING AFTER A VISITORS VISA EXPIRES. Sen. Leahy and his corrupt co-conspirators refused the amendment, to install a departure location at airports to fingerprinting passengers leaving the country. This is a cost effective entry and exit mechanism that was introduced by Sen. Sessions, who was criticized and lambasted by a gathering of elderly Senators who obviously been pressured by the wealthy lobbyists, who run amok continuously in Washington. There are hundreds of thousands of green cards in this assembly line, for Guest workers and will also need monetary support in years to come. Even the mandatory E-Verify program is really compromised, by dragging its enforcement over 18 months, instead of implementing the program immediately?

READ THE RUSSMUSSEN POLLING RESULTS ON THIS SENATE BILL 477 AND IMMIGRATION LAWS, THAT FOR ME IS THE ONLY REPORT THAT ABSOLUTELY TELLS THE TRUTH OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN QUESTIONED. RUSMUSSEN POLLS ARE NOT DOCTORED SO THAT PRO-ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GET ANANSWER CONFORMING TO THEIR NEGATIVE AGENDA. Tuesday, May 07, 2013: The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters still favor the plan that would give legal status to those here now illegally who have otherwise obeyed the law as long as the government really secures the border to prevent future illegal immigration. Thirty percent (30%) oppose the plan even with the guarantee of tougher border security. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.

GET ALL THE FACTS NOT THE HYPE AT www.numbersusa.com, www.americanpatrol.com, www.judicialwatch.org and Previous generations of Americans/ legal residents must band together on this urgent matter nothing will change. The wealthy purveyors of cash and favors in the pockets of the G8 will prevail, and the rest of us will be startled by the corrupt IRS institution wanting more taxes. As for the IRS after this fiasco, the whole institution should be abolished and let us enter the realm of a flat tax. A simple consumption tax on goods or a single, small rate of tax on income to fund each administration and the services provided. That is where taxable income and corporate profits don’t escape payment for living in this great country. A fair and equal tax that everybody will pay, without any exemptions, including, mega corporations who hide their ill-gotten gains overseas and even the poor must pay a small amount, instead of living of the taxpayer. IN CONCLUSION WE SHOULD DEMAND FROM CONGRESS A NATIONAL BIOMETRIC ID CARD, GIVING CITIZENS SOME MEASURE OF SECURITY IN CLAIMING A JOB, BEING ABLE TO VOTE AND AS A SAFEGUARD AGAINST CREDIT CARD FRAUD. If every citizen possessed a federal ID card there would be no more severe issues over identification in voting with non-citizen.

Explore all the information that will be our awful fate if this law passes. IT IS NOW OR NEVER TO FIGHT BACK OR WE WILL ONCE AGAIN BE CONDEMNED TO BE VISITED ONCE AGAIN BY THE IRS. Start overloading the phones in Washington. "NO AMNESTY! DROP THIS IMMIGRATION BILL IN TO THE GARBAGE!"OH! YES! BOMBARD YOUR STATE SENATE AND HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES AS WRLL. Send scathing faxes into the in-boxes of every member of the U.S. House and Senate using the mailing system at www.numbersusa.com/ Even contact your faxes to 435 Representatives in Congress. Give them no excuse to escape your anger. It’s free or you can help out with a donation? Let lawmakers make a distinction that, “A vote for Amnesty means NO REELECTION FOR THEM!" A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request. Re: “Love thy immigrant stranger as thyself

Meanwhile, in an effort to have a wholesome discussion....

This one paragraph says a lot: "There are signs that evangelicals' softening on immigration reform reflects a changing theology of sin and Christian obligation: a growing appreciation of how unjust social and legal institutions and the brutality of global capitalism trap the world's tired, poor, huddled masses. This may be particularly true of younger evangelicals who are disillusioned with their parents' Christian right."

It means younger ones GOT the message of the "occupy" protests and angry mobs of people around the globe who protest meetings of the IMF, G8, Finance Ministers, World Bank, etc.

It means that when people look at immigration and human dignity issues through the lens of WWJD, they see how very wrong are their bigoted parents and anti-reform loudmouths.

It means that images of fat old angry white slobs riding around in Tea Party Express buses trying to kill health care for all Americans drove the younger ones to say "WTF is that about?" They got the message that the Tea Party is about white power and corporate greed.

It means that the young ones see the horror that's hidden behind corporate logo's like Nike's, where products are made by people who live in stunning poverty like Nike workers in Cambodia who are making $14/month with ZERO benefits - or any kindnesses at all. WWJD?

They see the insane greed that recently caused a factory collapse in Bangladesh that has so far killed 1100+ sweaty serfs trying to make a living in deplorable conditions.

Nike, at al, deflect by saying they don't set labor wages or working conditions or building codes in foreign nations. Imagine that.

The young see through the hypocrisy of the GOP and religious right's lofty talk and gutter reality. The GOP panders to the religious right, racists, gunners, and other blocs to craft together enough votes (and money) to sway an election. I wish them ever more failure.

Marvelous article. Really is.

Too bad that comments by siggie and TT are typically execrable. If the Indy ever enforced any standards these two tirds would be flushed and gone, but at least we do get see what many so-called conservatives are really like.

Hey happy, does your moniker "happyfew" refer to the two brain cells you have left? Tell me something genius, do you really think that the majority of Americans will be voting for another loony liberal after the travesty Obama has made out of the office?
Do you have any idea what is happening right now on the national stage? Your boy is in serious trouble.

Re: “Love thy immigrant stranger as thyself

Seems to me what immigrants want is immediate access to what American citizen's have spent their life times creating.

I have benefits as part of a life long participation in and contribution to health insurance, social security, medicare...and all the safety net programs funded through payroll taxes etc.

The benefits are only available to me and to others citizens after 40 quarters of participation and payment. So too it should be for immigrants.

Otherwise it is re-distribution of wealth rather than a national program for the common good of its citizens.

Do we really want to turn America into Mexico?

Re: “Love thy immigrant stranger as thyself

Mc: seems to me the ignorance and hate are coming from you. I'm not a member of the Tea Party, but it is my understanding they are for lower taxes or at least responsible use of our tax dollar and adherence to the constitution. That does not sound like the "antithesis of everything American" to me. From where do you derive your bigoted opinions?

The Tea Party is the antithesis of everything American. Their only values are ignorance and hate, and they are proud of it.

Re: “Generation Debt

I am simply stunned. Mr. K finally put forth a post that makes absolute good sense.
I might add that one should select a (four year) college or university that one can afford. We all can't go to Harvard or CU for that matter.

Re: “Generation Debt

I recommend to anyone who cannot afford a college education, find a low-skilled job first, and use what money you can save above and beyond living costs, to take no more than one or two courses per session. There is no law that says you must finish college in four years. You will find you will move up in the job world as you move along through the university and wind up on graduation with actual experience on your resume, which means better prospects than the four-year graduate--and no debt to pay off.

Re: “Generation Debt

It's very sad that today in most occasions higher education is impossible without getting in debt. College is almost a luxury today and that’s why lots of young people take out loans and get in debt to get a college degree. I think that college education is very important, it’s a worthy investment because people with college degree have more career opportunities. But on the other hand, college degree isn’t a guarantee of a wealthy life. In case you have a student loan debt you’ll spend your best years to pay it off. Many graduates work below their skills and use http://northenloans.ca/short-term-loans.ht… to make payments on their student loans.

Re: “A homeless CEO in El Paso County?

"They've set strict rules, and when those haven't worked, they've set stricter rules."

I think we've found part of the problem; the insanity of "society" repeating what doesn't work, and when repeating it doesn't work for the umpteenth time, insanely double down on their inside the box thinking.

For sure there are many reasons for homelessness, and no matter what we do for them, or what they do for themselves, there will always be some people that fail no matter what or no matter how many others do make it out of their dilemma.

Some have mental problems, but we closed most mental health facilities in the 1980s for various reasons; now, lots of the mentally ill are either in jail or on the street. Too many of our citizens don't want to pay taxes to help or house the mentally ill, but the same bunch clamors for more "get tough on crime" prisons....duh.

Some have substance problems, largely alcohol, but also a whole witch's brew of crazy-making substances and drugs. But we can't seem to control the borders over which this junk makes its way into the nation, or the human urge to experiment with dangerous items. Some of those "great kids" from good homes who attend Cheyenne Mtn HS and dabble in black tar heroin will be homeless a decade from now.

Some had jobs, but lost them to off-shoring or the relentless pace of automation that reduces the need for labor. Good paying union jobs are slaughtered at the hands of fascists like the billionaire Koch Bros who've bankrolled anti-union efforts nationwide, driving down wages and creating economic paupers of millions. Make no mistake, CSPD, CSFD, and CSU unionized workforces are in the crosshairs of the Kochs and their puppet, Mayor Botch.

Some have economic problems. No one can live a conventional lifestyle or exist on a minimum wage that doesn't keep pace with inflation. The big money that runs this country won't let the minimum wage be raised and won't allow discussion of a "living wage." Working at $8/hour with no benefits, often not even for 40 hours a week, cannot pay for even the grimmest apartment, food, etc. Easier to live in a tent under a bridge, and they do. Read this for proof that the minimum wage is bankrupting us: http://tinyurl.com/md77gp6

There are a host of other issues that cause or impact upon homelessness, I've touched on a few of them but there are others.

The current effort to let them help themselves has real merit; those who have their own skin in the game usually step up and do what's right.

Re: “A homeless CEO in El Paso County?

Seems to me the "homeless" were given the same resources as everyone else, i.e., a mind and a body. The fact that they squandered and abused those resources doesn't seem be be a very popular subject. What ever happened to the concept of "personal responsibility"?
If the bums want to reject societies rules, they have no say in accepting societies charity.

Re: “Wound Up About Fluoride

Hard to tell from your comment if you're for or against water-fluoridation, "happyfew."

The "conspiracy theorist" label is for closed-minded imbeciles who gobble up media propaganda rather than think for themselves. People just spew it out like another catch-phrase cliche, without even considering if it's true. There is much more "overwhelming evidence" that Fluoride does NOT prevent tooth decay, and DOES poison the body AND mind. The theory is that it helps teeth. The theory is that if you drink it, your teeth will be less likely to decay (when in FACT it is the processed fake CRAP people eat, and the unhealthy amounts of sugar, that cause the tooth decay in the first place). If parents don't want their kids' teeth to decay, don't feed them sugar! If we ate entirely organic food, we would be able to brush our teeth with nothing more than sticks, or fennel plants. The conspiracy facts are that Stalin began fluoridating water to keep his prisoners docile and apathetic (whoever doesn't believe Fluoride does that, take a look around sometime; the people who toss around "conspiracy theorist" labels at activists are the same people who don't give a rat's ass about Humanity or the Planet!). The conspiracy facts are that Fluoride causes cancer (as does "too much of anything" on different levels), and calcifies the Pineal Gland. It is also the fastest way to overload all organs with Candida. Take a look at the link I posted! :)

Re: “Wound Up About Fluoride

people who do not believe the overwhelming amount of science on any subject should be called conspiracy theorists! how does fluoride medicate? too much of anything can be harmful... even unfluoridated water. if the poor cannot establish healthy teeth for their kids when they are still young they will have a lifetime of dental problems... of course the rich old farts around here don't care about poor people so there you have it.
