As I stated before.. you live by the precepts of men.
Tell me.. why do you feel the need to change my name? A form of disrespect? Very Christ like.. but then again.. since you are saved by the grace of God.. you can do anything.
Mr Nimrod. Again, I don’t have to follow your interpretation of the Bible- I am a born again Pentecostal believer since I was 6 years old and have been speaking in tongues ever since. If you bothered to read the book of Acts chapter one, you will see the proof of this with the 12 disciples also speaking in tongues as proof of the salvation of Christ that they received.
My salvation is not conditional like yours, so I feel sorry for you believing you are living in sin and so sin conscious that you don’t see the love and grace of God. I am not sin conscious but Grace conscious of my redemption and through Christ I was Redeemed from sin, which means Christ paid the price for the sins of mankind, Justified as in just as f I have never sinned, Sanctified which means set apart from sin, and made Righteous which means Right or Correct before God.
If you don’t line my Christ given rights, Sonship rights as we called them in my church, I suggest that you take it up with him. Again, I don’t have to live by your doctrine but my own and you have NO right to judge me. LMMFAO at you!
It is not the end of the world. We don't believe the world is going to end so you can't be laughing at us.
Just because you follow "some" of the commandments, and not others, does not mean you are saved. That is a false doctrine you are preaching there. You think that because the Law of Moses was fulfilled in Christ that sodomy and laying with mankind all of a sudden became.. OK? Really? Christ died on the cross so the gays can have sex?
You said: "so any sin that I have I can now ask my Lord to forgive me of it, and my sins are forgiven." And this is true. Under one condition. That you forsake the sin. You can not die in your sins and be saved. How can you think that asking for forgiveness with the intention of committing it again and again is somehow going to get you in the presence of God? Another false doctrine and teaching. These are the teachings of the precepts of men... and not of God.
end-of-the-world cults are fun to laugh at... not sure what else they are good for.
When you take away another person’s beliefs, then you dehumanize them and turn them into the scapegoats for sin in society and give an excuse for murder as religious beliefs. This was done to the African American and Native Americans from 1890s and back thru history. They called these people savages and enslaved them and/ or took away their lands.
Just because I am gay doesn’t mean I am not a God fearing/ belief centered person, I just don’t believe in your interpretation of the Bible. I am born again according to Romans 10:9&10 and that is unconditional and uncorruptible, so any sin that I have I can now ask my Lord to forgive me of it, and my sins are forgiven. By denying the Christ in me, you are actually denying Christ and all that he stood for as our Passover Lamb. He fulfill the Law of the OT and we are now under the Grace of God.
I do not fear God’s judgment of me, and I practice what I preach: non-violence, charity and spirituality. Maybe you should take another look in the New Testament and read for yourself: First and greatest commandment is to love God with all of your heart, soul and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. On this is rests all of the Law and Prophets. Therefore, we are NO LONGER UNDER THE LAW OF THE OLD TESTAMENT!
I would just like to say...most times, leaders of our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), have never taken political stands on anything. The only statement we have made is that we believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman in "The Family: A Proclamation to the World." Never have the church leaders hated on gays. Nor was it the church's money that supported getting Prop 8 passed. It was the members of our church who did such things, which didn't necessarily represent what our Church Leaders agree with. Being a member of this church, I have never once heard a Leader say over the pulpit, "Hate gays. Do everything you can to make their lives miserable." Rather, they have told us to love and understand others beliefs. As the 11th article of faith says, "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." Now, the only thing that we have done is not allowed same-sex marriage in our temples. But, I should make a note that only worthy members (those who keep the 10 commandments and follow the Word of Wisdom, are chaste, have a testimony of Christ, and have been baptized and have kept those covenants, etc) can get married in our temples. It's nothing against a person because they are gay or lesbian. That's how it's always been to get married in our temples, and that's how it always will be. We do not change our beliefs to please the world, which is perhaps why we have gotten so much flack. If you wish to see the church's official statement on all of this, here's a website to look at http://www.mormonsandgays.org. Also, lds.org and mormon.org are good sites to look into. I hoped this helped bring a little more understanding of our beliefs.
A poster wrote: "The Lord tells us.. by their fruits ye shall know them."
So true. Mormons fought against the Equal Rights Ammendment and were largely responsible for it's defeat.
Mormons actively fought against the Civil Rights movement, with Mormon leaders calling the movement a "communist" plot.
Mormons have fought against civil rights for Gays, and were the principle money behind Prop. 8.
When it comes to promoting an unconstitutional, anti-civil-rights agenda, it's tough to find a worse group than the Mormon Church
A poster wrote: "So feel free to express what side of the line you are on.."
I'm on the side of free agency and civil rights.
A poser wrote: "and I will be a witness to it."
Mormonism is highly appealing to the narcissistic mind.
A poster wrote: "The homosexual lifestyle is a sin."
People are born Gay. Your religion is a lifestyle, being Gay isn't.
"a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance."
Wow.. sounds like GOD. He is not very tolerant either and look how he has treated members of a group with intolerance. A whole world of people except for 8. Hmmm.
It is the homosexual society that is changing the laws to meet their agenda. If living the homosexual lifestyle was something that was a ok.. then God would have sanctioned it from the beginning. HOWEVER.. he did not. You are on the wrong side. Wickedness is wickedness and trying to legalize it doesn't make it any less wicked. I am not buying into your illusion.
@ Duwayne Anderson
"This is a church that worships a really nasty god. "
No.. this is a church that worships a really righteous God. It is not the Mormons who will cleanse America. It will be God. We unfortunately are the ones that will have to witness it.
Your unbelief in the Bible speaks volumes. So be it. That is your free agency and we give you that right. But yes.. we will fight for things that we believe are righteous... and rebel against those things that are wicked. Just because you believe that wickedness is happiness.. I need not buy into your mixed up version of right and wrong. Sorry that your moral compass points in the wrong direction.
Unholy dominion? LOL Yea... we just want marriage to stand for what it has always stood for. Not the perversion you support. You are no different then those of old who killed the prophets as they called the people to repentance. It is hard for the wicked to hear the truth as it cuts them to the bone.
It has been prophesied that in the latter days there would be those that call good.. evil.. and would call evil.. good. This generation is watching that prophecy unfold right before their eyes. You speak of secret combinations and I am sure you know the true meaning of those words. The Lord tells us.. by their fruits ye shall know them. So feel free to express what side of the line you are on.. and I will be a witness to it. The homosexual lifestyle is a sin. It is against the laws of God. Why would I submit to legalize that which I believe is wrong? People can engage in all the sin that they desire.. but asking me to vote and make it legal.. won't be happening. Heard this one..?? For the wages of sin is death. Is that just a Mormon thingy?
A Mormon apologist wrote: "When you have a nation.. and even a world, that finds sin acceptable and does what it can to legalize it.. then it will get what it deserves. America needs to be cleansed.. and it will be."
This shows just how BSC Mormonism really is. This is a church that worships a really nasty god. These folks are Biblical literalists who look at the genocide and mass destruction ordered by Jehovah in the Old Testament as literal events. And (as the poster demonstrated) they use their fundamentalist/literal reading of the Old Testament as a lesson for what happens when society becomes too tolerant.
These fundamentalist/literalist Mormons would have been more than eager to kill unarmed women and children for Noah (see Numbers 31). And they have nothing but righteous indignation for a nation that won't allow them to exercise their unholy dominion over Gays.
In the minds of Mormons like this guy, god is going to destroy America unless the American people stop being tolerant of Gays. And the really scary thing is that these nuts are very common (possibly even a majority) in the Mormon Church.
Don't expect their crazy fundamentalist ideology to subside, either. Any perceived moderation will be for the benefit of public perception only; bet your bottom dollar these folks will continue to work in secret combinations, out of the public limelight, to subvert Constitutional freedoms so as to avoid the retribution of their horrible god.
What makes you a bigot is not your beliefs that marriage is for a man and woman only, but your actions to force another group to conform to your standard of religion.
M. Websters: Bigot: Definition of BIGOT-: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.
I believe I was very clear about that. You have the freedom to practice your religion, and I have the freedom to practice mine, but you become a bigot when you force civil laws of disfranchisement and discrimination into our society. Actions are the factor here, not your personal beliefs, but over and over again, people like you and Tejon Tech continue to believe you have to make America in your image and that is what makes your anti-gay laws UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
Yes.. as long as I am of the opinion that marriage should be between a man and woman.. I am the bigot. So is God so I am in good company! The only thing that makes it UNCONSTITUTIONAL is the ruling of wicked people.. not because it is.
Yea.. right.. my freedom to live my religion. I remember a time when Mormons left the confines of the US Government to go to the desert to live our religion.. and still the government followed and ruled that we may believe what we will.. but we may not practice what we believe. We can only practice what they tell us we can. We know first hand the power of government.
Funny how when speaking about Mormons and God.. the only book brought up is the Book of Mormon. Did God not speak his mind throughout the Bible concerning what happens when the people become so wicked? Is Sodom and Gomorrah just a fairy tale to you? Is the destruction of Jerusalem.. twice.. just another story? Apparently so to you.
Marriage.. the word.. the concept.. the definition.. is what we have fought to keep. I could care less what two gay people do. They can sin all the want as it is their soul that gets judged for their behavior. I feel as passionate about the sin of heterosexual couples having sex and not being married. It is the whole issue of our moral society. The sins of this country by killing over a million babies every year in the abomination called abortion. It is not just the "gay" issue. It is all of it. It keeps growing and piling up. When you have a nation.. and even a world, that finds sin acceptable and does what it can to legalize it.. then it will get what it deserves. America needs to be cleansed.. and it will be.
The prophets though out time have called the sinners to repentance as a warning to them. Repent.. or be destroyed. And destruction is one of God's tools when the cup runneth over.
There are so many inaccuracies and misconceptions in this article that it's tough to know where to begin.
“Their role, which the church sought to keep under wraps, was exposed by Karger, who tracked the individual donations pouring into the Yes on 8 campaign back to church members.”
That would have been a pretty easy exposé, since the church sent out an official letter to be read in our open sunday meetings which encouraged the members to support Prop 8 in California.
It is doubtful to me that this is a topic from which the church will back away.
Mr Niron. When our US Supreme Court overrules a citizen generated state amendment it is because it is found to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL! What is so hard to understand about that? It is so bigots like you can’t pass laws that disfranchise a different group of citizens because of your beliefs. You are not allowed to take away my right to Freedom of Religion because you want me to live by your church’s doctrines. Freedom of Religion is your freedom and right to practice your religion, and my freedom and right to live my life by my beliefs and religious doctrines. Making an anti-gay law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and is not EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL CITIZENS.
Maybe we need to have a vetting process added to the state amendment process where ballot initiatives have to pass a review by lawyers before the state’s registered voters get to vote on them, and then we wouldn’t have to pay millions of dollars to defend unlawful laws in court after they are voted in by the citizens, like what happened with Amendment 2. So soon have you forgotten this fact, and the loss of tourism dollars has been affecting us ever since? Gays will still not come to the Colorado Springs area twenty years later and spend money, but go to Denver instead. Learn the lesson that this legal process has taught us and maybe we can progress Colorado Springs into the new millennium instead of staying in this 1950s mentality of life.
One of the posters said: "it has never been church policy to force parents to choose between their kids or the church!"
Actually, that's exactly what Brigham Young (the church's second prophet) taught that parents should do.
“If a child or relative of mine forsakes the Gospel, the holy Priesthood, his God, and the kingdom of God, farewell to that child or relative, whether near or distant. I own none as relatives, only those who love and serve our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. All that belong to my Father's house I own. I love them, I delight in their society, no matter whether they are poor or rich, learned or unlearned, if they observe the laws of the kingdom of God and live according to it.” [JD 9:156 Brigham Young, January 19, 1862]
Another poster wrote: "and the cup of iniquity becomes full and overflowing.. then you will see how God intervenes."
There is a consistent doctrinal theme found throughout the Book of Mormon that the Mormon god will destroy the nation if the country tolerates "sin." This is a major platform on which Mormons build their effort to infuse their religion into public law and use the government to enforce their religious views to the detriment of free agency. Those doctrines are still there, and it would be a mistake for the Gay community to think that much has changed in the LDS Church. They'll keep on attacking Gays, but they'll do it a little more subversively (relying more on their secret combinations), and with less public fanfare.
There are many distortions in this article about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Although it may be common practice for parents to kick out their gay kids, it has never been church policy to force parents to choose between their kids or the church! Alll human beings everywhere are precious in His sight, and this church seeks to help them come to Him. Are there Mormons who are bigoted against LBGT people? Are there LBGT people who are bigoted against Mormons? Sure there are! And it's not right. All of us fall short of the glory of God, none of us are worthy to stand before Him now without the Savior's atonement.
"The Mormon Church has lost so many members and suffered such a black eye because of all its anti-gay activities that they really had no choice."
What a load of pooh. Prop 8 was brought to the ballot for one reason. The people.. yes.. the voters.. that is the people.. had already decided that the definition of marriage was between a man and woman. And some court ruled against what had been voted in. So again.. it was put before the people.. (Prop 8).. and again.. the people voted and defined marriage as between a man and woman. And again.. the court overruled the majority of the people.
Tell me.. why even vote anymore? It doesn't matter what the people want.. it only matters what the courts want. And when the majority becomes as wicked as the minority.. and the cup of iniquity becomes full and overflowing.. then you will see how God intervenes. Not what I would want.. but it will happen. America will be cleansed.
Marriage will always.. always.. only really be between man and woman. The perversion that the homosexuals have is not marriage. For homosexuals to get "married" does not legitimize the sin that is being committed. If they think they got a "get out of damnation" card.. they would be wrong. I know.. they don't really care about that anyway.
In the span of a decade, the anti-gay movement will have gone from the mainstream to the extremist fringe. Gotta love it.
There was nothing historic about Mitch Mayne being called into the bishopric, and executive secretary isn't a leadership position. He's basically a scheduling secretary. I was called to be the same in a BYU ward back in 1998. My bishop knew I was gay, and that I hadn't even set foot in a church in three years when I was called. The stake president knew too. And there was nothing historic about me being called either. I didn't have a website with pictures of myself with an open collared shirt showing off chest hair, but other than that Mitch and I had the same experience. Anyone who believes the church has abandoned its crusade doesn't know this church, they'll just go at it from a different, quieter direction.
