Re: “Fewer Colorado Springs cops work the streets as crime rises

It is interesting to see some numbers, but the small number of police on patrol has been the norm for at least a decade - as anyone who has called the police about a property crime can attest.

Re: “Fewer Colorado Springs cops work the streets as crime rises

cutting police and having defence lawyers drag cases out over trivialities is all part of Satan's plan to cause havoc and make people angry at God.

Re: “Hope swings eternal

@melchett - I didn't say she should get a pass, but I'm not disappointed in her passion or her way of expressing herself. She said US was courageous and the antonym is cowardly, so I think in her analogy it works. Coward is one of those words that triggers strong emotions, so I'm not surprised people have a problem with it. What I did say is that I strongly don't agree with your characterization that she's an "infant" or "toddler-esque". She's a grown woman who speaks her mind and if that offends some people's sensibilities, then it just does. I'm answering this after her announced suspension and termination of her US Soccer contract, so I guess you win. Male athletes are not expected to "play nice" the same way female athletes are and this is just a reaffirmation of that. Finally, I have no problem being represented by an athlete that puts it all out there, truthfully and unapologetically. Life is often not pretty, but I always appreciate when it's real.

Re: “Bible removed from desk at Peterson AFB

I am offended by many things as many people are. But unless it threatened my life or others I think we should keep those things to ourselves. I am not Muslim but a Koran on somebody's desk would not offend me. I would probably in my 15 minute break even ask to talk about it. G. Blank

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! Muslims are given every protection and freedom to exercise their religion. Even Satanists are now openly having rituals to Satan and leading our children into Devil Worship. But a lone Bible sitting on a desktop becomes a huge problem - why? "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." Hebrews 4:12

Re: “Locals smile on military, survey shows

Unfortunately, the survey closed before we found out that Peterson Air Force Base was contaminating groundwater supplies in the Fountain and Widefield/Security areas that might take a generation of more to clean up.

Re: “Locals smile on military, survey shows

It is important to note that PPACG got $805,000 from the Pentagon to do this "study". It was certainly mostly in house. Sprinkle in a few negative comments from those few who happened to find out about it and wrap up a neat package of support for business as usual. As the article points out the pollution of the Widefield aquifer is ignored. A month ago I called them and urged them to get involved. I got a brushoff which informed me that they couldn't do anything unless one of the government or military actors asked them to get involved. This report is not credible.

Re: “ColoradoCare, Donald Trump, Palmer Park improvements, and more

I find your stereotyping of me, being a progressive, somewhat insulting and quite inaccurate.

I have worked hard for everything I have. I have worked hard my whole life. The state is not my provider, nor is it my all knowing deity. I rely on myself and I think for myself. You and I are no different in that aspect.

As far as stealing, which I believe is your alias to paying taxes.
The Lakota, beautiful wise people, whom I was so blessed to meet and learn from when I lived in your neck of the woods, called the white man "wacicu". Wacicu, very loosely interpreted, means one who does not give back. They took and they took, but they didn't give back. The Lakota noticed that when they observed the white man slaughtering buffalo and leaving the full dead carcasses to rot, among other actions where the white man took and took and took from our Earth Mother.

I consider paying taxes as a way of giving back to our country and our people for what I have received living here. So, I sign my tax document with gladness to be able to give back. My opinion, those of you who hate to pay taxes are still wacicu, you still have not learned the concept of giving back.

I realize the greater debate is are we paying too much. However, there are many wealthy individuals and corporations in this country who pay nothing or close to nothing in taxes. Until Mr. Trump, the Republican nominee shows us his tax forms, I will assume he is very much a wacicu.

Are you still living as a wacicu Tannim? Do you feel a gladness to give back to help others in this country that has given you the opportunities you have had?

The native people had a strong feeling of community. They could not rejoice if others in their community were hurting, they took care of each other.

Because of this strong sense of community Tannim, the U.S. government took on the mindset to "save the child, they must kill the indian". Their first step was to kill this strong sense of community and instil the mindset to look after themselves and let others take care of themselves. This sounds very familiar to current Republican mindset.

As far as Eminent Domain is concerned, what you are referring to as coveting, that's a difficult concept for me. I have mixed feelings, because I believe in community, I am willing to give for the common good.

I think if it is right or wrong, depends on a case by case basis. Giving up your property for some corporation...hell no! I will stand beside you to protest that.

However, if it can be shown that it is indeed for the common good, I don't necessarily oppose that. But for those who do give for the common good should be compensated in a very satisfactory manner. They have given back and they need to be rewarded for such an act of love for our community.

As far as murder goes and a police state, I won't argue with that at all. I am with you, we need to overhaul our law enforcement. There was a time in my life, I am 61 years old, it was very uncommon for an officer to take a life and when they did it was a very traumatic event and many officers could not get over that trauma and left the force.

It seems nowadays an officer may have taken many lives and it doesn't seem to bother or affect them at all, they can strangle a man to death on video and walk away feeling good and proud. I find that alarming and frightening.

Having said all of this Tannim, I want to thank you for your very respectful debate. I believe your were the one I told a while back that name calling is beneath you. You and I have never met, I just knew you were better than that and you have shown me I was correct.

Pilamaya Yelo (thank you) and Mitakue Oyasin ( we are all related, or all one), we can take this concept one step further, left leaning or right leaning, Pagan or Christian, we are all American's.

I would love Tannim to be able to call you "kola"....My Friend.

Re: “Wave your bandera with pride

The assumption, apparently, is that Trump is anti-Mexican. In my view, he is anti illegal alien. No matter where you sit in this emotionally charged election year, one needs to follow the laws of the land. Anything else leads to more problems than we already have.

Re: “Bible approved for AFB desk

NOBODY SAID HE COULDN’T READ THE BIBLE AT WORK ON HIS OWN BREAKS!!! But as a COMMANDER, he is not allowed to DISPLAY a Bible because it pressures his employees under his influence. What don’t you understand about this work law???

The Department defines harassing conduct as any unwelcome conduct, verbal or physical, based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, parental status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation or belief, that either:  can reasonably be considered to adversely affect the work environment, or results in an employment decision affecting the employee and is based upon the employee's acceptance or rejection of such conduct.

The bible, just sitting there, has always been a threat to weak people. What are they afraid of?

Re: “Two women Dems looking to break political curse in county commissioner races

Electra Johnson has my vote! Her professional background, expertise, and passion for real people with real problems will help District 3 residents plan and implement reasonable growth in north western El Paso County. I especially look forward to her leadership with County Wildfire Code adoption, AND enforcement in our Wildland Urban Interface with Pike National Forest. We need new guidance in reducing the risk of wildfire, the resulting erosion, the flooding, and the destruction of infrastructure. She knows that what happens up here to Palmer Lake's reservoir, to the forested headwaters of nearby Upper Monument Creek, will affect everybody's water downstream--all the way to the Arkansas River! Republican commissioners have had their chance--for 46 years! On their watch, El Paso County endured Waldo Canyon and Black Forest Wildfires. Considering the risk of "business as usual," I will vote for constructive change: Electra Johnson.

Re: “Fewer Colorado Springs cops work the streets as crime rises

Seriously, man? Figures don't lie...but liars figure? Is that what you're trying to say? OK - I get it already - you want to live in a "free society" where everyone fixes the streets in front of their house, puts out their own fires (including ones like Waldo Canyon), makes their own electricity, takes care of their own garbage and sewage...etc, etc. Face it - without the taxes we all pay we wouldn't have any of this and you would be in a world of hurt because you aren't smart enough to handle all of that responsibility. The streets of CSpgs are a mess because of the "I'm taxed too much crowd" and their jailbird hero Douglas Bruce. Give me a break!
