Re: “Abuse allegations continue at youth facility

Devereux Cleo Wallace is a dangerous and abusive place for children. I trusted them with my son and he was thoroughly traumatized by both enduring emotional and physical violence at the hands of staff, and by witnessing the constant violence perpetrated by staff on other kids. Have you talked to admissions and checked out the videos and website? Do not believe for a minute that they will swim, ride horses, pet the therapy dog, or get therapeutic care. They create unnecessary distress for fragile, mentally ill kids, then punish them for reacting. Restraints and locking children in the "quiet room" were constant. This is an expensive, private, abusive jail for kids. I can't for the life of me understand how they haven't been shut down. Devereux Cleo Wallace is a house of horrors.

Re: “Pinned Down

My bipolar child was at Devereux Cleo Wallace and suffered greatly from staff who would deliberately antagonize the children, cause them to be upset, then restrain them and lock them in a small room. Staff threatened to retaliate against my son if he kept complaining. I finally pulled him out before he became the next statistic. My report to CPS was not even the only one - someone else had reported abuse to him a week before I did. Horrifying. Stay away from this place. I pray every day for the poor souls still locked in there, because staff and police don't believe them.
