The U.S. has a long history of covert operations in Mexico and Central America. The average citizen generally doesn't know what we're doing in those areas -- or what our allies are doing -- until after the deed is done. The main reason we know about drones in Pakistan and Afghanistan is the intrepid reporting of Pakistani journalists that gets picked up by American newspapers.
So timely! I was just pondering this question a few days ago. Thank you for the answer, Indy and Alex.
John, perhaps I too should look into renting a basement apt in District 2 so I can cast a vote for you :-)
Amy Lathan is a corrupt politician who is actively engaging in deception and pilfering of voter approved 1A money that was approved by the voters for the Sheriff's Office specifically, not El Paso County. Lathan and her band of corrupt heathens (Hisey, Clark, Greene, Sapp and Reid) are out to screw the voters to include this OEM transition thereby misappropriating and misusing 1A tax dollars. The County needs to rid themselves of Lathan, and the city sure doesn't need to adopt that cancerous politician to screw with the city of Colorado Springs.
John Suthers and Mary Lou Makepeace, at this juncture, are the only two who are legitimately capable and educated enough to make valid attempts to fix Bach's screw ups!
Ms Reynolds, yes I do live in District 2. With a name like Bill Murray I cannot be too conservative, or too over the top, or too much of a control freak. Have you seen my facebook page? And no one has ever called me crabby. I can't be Joel Miller's surrogate dad because I have to much hair! :+} And I appreciate your support.
"Deborah" most certainly is a troll. No one could be that stupid. "Deborah" has no convictions regarding Mr. Weinstein or MRFF. "Deborah" just wants to see how many buttons he or she can push.
As a resident of no man's land, this article was spot on. I share many of the same things you observe on a daily basis, and I for one cannot wait for This PPRTA work to be done.
Instead of reasoned and well-supported arguments, Debbie would rather have sound-bites and one-liners? Ironically, the Belieber-ism she bemoans doesn't suit Weinstein or his supporters -- rather, the kind of diatribe she peddles is the sort that would best fit on a poster hanging in a teenager's room. Actual constructed, intellectually-defended debate is beyond her pale, I gather.
Agree 100% with this statement:
"What would you like to see happen there? It would be great if there was a trolley that ran from downtown, through OCC, to Manitou and back again, especially if that whole stretch was really nice with locally owned businesses."
TEPCO the Japanese nuclear power company continues to lie to the people of Japan and to the world about the true levels of radiation released into the atmosphere, ground and into the Pacific Ocean! TEPCO also continues to dump millions of gallons of radioactive waste into the Pacific Ocean nonstop every single day to contaminate the plant life, insects, fish, ocean life and animals. We are now being told not to eat anyTuna and large fish at all because the radiation levels are unsafe to put into our body's and Fukushima radiation is now verified to be moving into the coast of California and the beaches will soon be polluted with this radiation! There is now verified proof of DNA damage and mutations throughout the food chain and we humans are next to suffer! and if we don't detox our bodies suffer we will! Experts recommend to commence detoxing with the natural mineral called zeolite that is proven to safely remove both radiation and heavy metals from the human body. This detox is VERY important to help prevent DNA damage that will cause disease and future ongoing mutations! For more quality information do an online search for the website with the single word Zeolite or search for" Detox With Micronized Zeolite"
I think it says more about Congress than it does about Mikey if they call someone to Hill just to beat up on him. While I don’t see that as the case, Mikey is to be commended for enduring those slings and arrows. And Congress does not call inconsequential people to the Hill to give them a beat down. An attempted mugging of this sort signifies the recipient has a big voice on the issue that compels a beat down. They desperately want to shut him up because he is making a difference with what he has to say. If he were not they would not be interested in trying to ambush him and call him a jerk. As much as it may gripe your longest gut, Mikey was asked to the Hill because he is making progress against a certain faction’s sacred cows.
You seem to be quite an expert on Mikey, maybe even a little obsessed. He seems to be living rent free in your head. I am not sure what his “100 Most Influential People in US Defense” rating has to do with the merits of the MRFF cause. I am unclear how coverage in “widely-read mainstream publications” equates tohow important a cause is. In fact, I would argue that the importance of a cause is frequently inversely proportional to its coverage in the mainstream press. If he is so ignored then how can you substantiate your “attention whore” allegation? It cannot be both at the same time.
You obviously have not been paying attention if you need someone to unpack the impact Mikey has had on religious policy in the military. If he had no impact you would not have such passion. I think you are the one that needs to Google.
Are you on the Nobel committee? I thought not. You have no way of knowing who will win that award. You are just wishful thinking. BTW it usually takes someone friendly to you to nominate you. Enemies do not usually nominate you.
I do believe you are confused about the MRFF mission. It is not the highly acclaimed Wounded Warrior Project, and it is not serving veterans. Are you sure you are on the right page? When it comes to benefiting military service people on the particular issue of protecting them from un-Constitutional 1st Amendment malfeasance, MRFF has a track record of success.
"Facebook Likes is a simple way for people to indicate their engagement and support of a cause. "However, we hear every day, of politician Facebook pages that have a large percentage of fake followers. It can be so easily manipulated. And even if it were not, having a Facebook page is not ubiquitous. Facebook pages are not mandatory. Your naiveté is endearing but a fallacious argument. There is no correlation.
Before Mikey started the MRFF he already had a lifetime of relevance and meaning. No one can take that away from him. His relevance and importance is indelible.
“I don't think those advocates deserve to drive a Lotus, either.” So what do they deserve to drive? Can I come to your house and tell you what I think you need to drive?
Perhaps you caught the news story re: the town of Walsenburg working with a developer on 330 acres upon which to build 100 warehouses to be leased out for marijuana grow operations? Some see the future and go with it and some go broke. It is a rather interesting social commentary.
Again, the voters already voted on a way to gather more taxes to fund infrastructure projects but Bach and his ilk on council are standing in the way! Allow RMJ shops and not only will we have tax dollars but jobs too!
How would you rate the potential for passage of the Mayor's funding proposal if council approves the measure for the April ballot?
Amy is shooting? Shooting what?....targets, elk, deer, tin cans, street lights, signs, or maybe...rabbits?
Mikey has no followers. Mikey happens to be the leader of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation which does have a considerable following.
Mikey's record of graduating, with honors, from the US Air Force Academy, 11 years of service in the Air Force, years of serving as White House Counsel to President Reagan and now years of serving as the head or MRFF is proof certain of his patriotism and leadership abilities.
As a veteran and supporter of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation for some time, I have had an unretouched picture of Mr. Weinstein's expert leadership, unswerving management abilities and deep concern for our Armed Forces.
Mikey is used to detractors, most of them being truly unable to fathom the depth of Mikey's work and some just bound by lifelong religious indoctrination that restricts them to their personal, often mistaken beliefs.
Often it becomes too late to realize what a great American a man like Mikey is and the important work being done by him and his organization.
I am hoping those detractors and any other interested part will take the time to vist MRFF's web site and learn more about this foundation which has been supporting our troops for some time. militaryreligiousfreedom.org R. Baker
Holy gee whiz! I truly hope Bill Murray doesn't live in District 2. Too conservative, too over the top, too much of a control freak and seriously way too crabby. Does this man EVER smile??? He's like Joel Miller's surrogate dad! Yikes!
The Cartels have moved from Mexico to Colorado. NPR is clueless and only read press releases as told by their masters.
Lets answer your question about jobs: What are your thoughts on how the City Council might encourage job growth in the City of Colorado Springs?
Argument is not discussion, and collaboration, cooperation, coordination and compromise are not dirty words. As mentioned in a previous question, what businesses’ need is reliability, not political or philosophical warfare. They need to know that our streets, roads and bridges will remain open and usable. Also, at the next chance of rain, they will not encounter a flooding situation. Inexpensive, but reliable utilities that can grow with their needs are critical issues for long term commitments.
It is all about the community. A sense of community purpose is important. C4C is a community project and the Council should have been involved from day one. We should protect our natural resources, we should not chase shiny objects, and we should encourage long term thinking. We should send out Council emissaries to seek out business opportunities rather than wait for them to find us. We should build out our telecommunications infrastructure to maintain relevance and build towards a mobile future. Millennials’ respect and appreciate this capacity. So does the military.
We should build on our strengths. When a firm like FEDEX builds a new facility here, we look at the overall consequences. How we adapt to their needs, build on their wants and balance our workforce capabilities will determine if others will follow. And, we should use it as a building block to encourage others to join them.
Everyone on the Council has an important part to play to make this work. Everyone is in the boat together and in order to reach any destination, we all need to be rowing and all in sequence. And everyone needs to share in its successes.
"A Mindset is a mental model, a deeply ingrained set of beliefs and assumptions that influence our decisions and behaviour. An entrepreneurial mindset is about looking at the world in terms of creating value for others, an empowering and necessary approach in today’s dynamic global economy.".
And you believe NPR?
The facts are that the Mexican Drug Cartels have moved INTO Colorado. They are growing here now instead of Mexico. Doh!
