  • FT Advertising Account Executive

    The Indy wants you—to sell advertising (print and online).

    Looking for someone who eats, drinks and breathes the Independent. Like you can’t go a week without a copy of it in your hot little hands. You’ve downloaded our iPad version, you read us on the web, you have the IndyScene app… you are an Indy addict.

    Then you must be a rockin’ sales person. Like 2+ years experience selling print, broadcast and/or online advertising. As always you must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, be self-motivated and have bad-ass communication skills.

    Your job, should you choose to accept it (and us you) is to service and grow existing customers as well as finding and signing new advertisers. New business development is a KEY FUNCTION of this position. You should also have a vehicle that will get you where you need to go.

  • FT Distribution Manager

    Looking for that unique person who thrives at trying to meet what seem like constantly opposing goals..

    Responsible for overseeing scheduling, delivery & route coordination for 36,000+ papers to 950 locations weekly, managing a field employee and a dozen+ drivers. Must be a great communicator, have super — we mean SUPER — attention to detail, a working vehicle, driver's license, registration & current insurance.

    Skills should include: people management, sales head, customer service, computer literacy in Excel, Word and email, ability to lift 50#+, flexibility, ability to self manage and excel in a fast-paced work environment. Fly-by-the-seat-of-pantsedness is a huge plus.

    Job also includes: Data entry, data analysis & computer reporting and a lot of field work.

    • We're looking for college students interested in spending Fall 2014 writing, researching and otherwise toiling in the Independent's editorial department. Requirements include a commitment to 12 to 15 hours of office time per week, a positive attitude, and an interest in pursuing a career in journalism. (Previous journalism experience preferred, but not required.) Benefits: college credit, experience and clips, the occasional free lunch.     • Digital Media/Marketing Interns

      Now recruiting for 2014. Collaborate with the Indy’s Director of Marketing and Promotions to support the organization’s marketing strategy. Learn how to craft and evaluate social media campaigns. Capture compelling stories through strong writing, stunning images, and sensational video. Coordinate video schedule and production; provide blogging/social media support. This internship is a part-time position for academic credit. 2-3 days (15-20 hours a week) Job requirements: Ability to learn and use new technology, Interest in social media, Video or digital content editing skills, Marketing, Digital Media, or Journalism background strongly preferred.
