Mr Lowery doesn't consider anything an investment, only theft. It's his type of "logic" aka, compulsive/obsessive selfishness, that has turned this city to a laughing stock.
And let's continue to pass on recreation MJ sales tax revenue because that's the fiscally responsible and moral thing to do. Idiots.
Ben Carson? Lady, you're just another idiot voting against your own best interests.
Mr. Teeter has his underwear in a bunch over Rev. Wright and wonders what liberal attitudes would be if a republican were aligned with Rockwell or Duke.
Well McCain is aligned with and has accepted the endorsement of Rev. John Hagee a truly vile religious fanatic and homophobe who has made extremely inflammatory statements against Catholics. McCain has made no effort to denounce him as Obama has done with Wright.
If Mr Teeter is so concerned with substance over style why does this non-issue with Obamas ex-preacher rate so highly in his opinion.
Hello...Health care, war, recession, infrastructure, etc.
Talk about going stupid!
How typical Gene is of the religious right. When they are criticized for their intolerance, for vilifying and discriminating against gays and restricting the reproductive rights of women, they whine that those doing the criticizing are intolerant.
And what is your point about MLK? Was it that he was imperfect, or maybe he was just too uppity for you?
Why are so many Christians supportive of Ws policies and wars, is that what Jesus would do? Oh thats right, it's abortion, so obsessed with the fetus but not too concerned with the post-born children, who get slaughtered in our quest for oil or who die for lack of health care.
I am sure if Jesus were around today Christians of Genes ilk would be persecuting him for being a liberal humanist, which by the way, is what he was!
In regard to the letter, Enlightened by Russell Shurts, yes Thomas Edison was a great man, who provided us with many modern conveniences, that cannot be disputed. But to ignore our impact on our environment and our wasteful tendencies is completely unrealistic and is an insult to innovators like Edison.
What shows through in this letter more than anything is the writers extreme dislike of being inconvenienced in any way, to have to put a little thought into the consequences of his lifestyle is apparently just too painful for him.
That clean source of light that the Mr. Shurts refers to has a smoldering lump of coal behind it. Why is it such a threat to him to be a bit more conscious of that fact? I dont think that were Mr. Edison alive today that he would be insulted by an effort to raise consciousness about our energy use, in fact I am sure he would be at the forefront in innovating newer less environmentally damaging energy sources.
You see there are very obvious and painful consequences for staying on the path that we are on, that Mr. Shurts so vehemently defends.
See, the hard part in life isnt turning off your brain and curling up in front of the TV to die an intellectual death. The hard part is living and thriving and doing everything in your power to face reality and use the power of creative thought, science and innovation to move humanity forward, just as Thomas Edison did!
Oh well, I triedyour bleak and sad little rationality allows you to justify your living in a world that you take no part in.
Sheep dont strategize against the wolf; they just eat, shit and then die, just like you. You are a leech that enjoys the gains made by the sacrifice of other brave souls, while denigrating and belittling them, but contribute nothing yourself.
Humanity and society can evolve beyond our current primitive bounds only in so much as each individual can evolve and sacrifice and participate. If the fate of mankind were left to the likes of you, wed still be living in caves and barking at the moon.
You sir are a coward.
