Re: “UPDATE: Blaha chastises Lamborn for globe-trotting

I have known Doug for about 20 years... our kids went to all of the same schools, scouts, etc. and while he may vote right, I can't imagine him making a convincing argument on the floor of the house. I mean, he is afraid to even take a public debate with Bob Blaha. Being a congressman is more than showing up to vote it is getting out and standing up on the floor and voicing an opinion. Aside that he sounds like Mickey Mouse, I just can't picture him doing that effectively. And, Colorado Springs is a lot more than just the military. Can't he do something for the majority private sector population?

Doug and his family always seem to take the sleazy way out of things. For instance he claims to have climbed a lot of 14ers... yet he never went on an overnight or scouting outing with his boys. We always claimed that parents like him made the BSA stand for Baby Sitters of America. His oldest son set fire to a construction shack, went through the neighborhood smashing cars and Doug got him off. Later when he introduced a bill in the CO house requiring parents to be responsible for their kids actions, he claimed he wasn't responsible because it was not the law then. Talk about a weasel.

All those trips... as a Colorado congressman, I find it a huge stretch of imagination to believe those trips were necessary with the full information gathering power of the US government available to him. In fact, I doubt he can give any reasons for these trips except Jeannie wanted to go and they figured out how to get someone else to pay for them... either you and me, the campaign treasure chest or anonymous earmark beneficiaries. Why mention his wife? because she is as complicit in these dealings as he is. And, she is paid out of his office and campaign funds. As an alleged 'artist', it seems a big stretch that she would be doing a lot for his office. I wonder how much her salary is?

In our circles, the Lamborns were known to take all they could get. If one kid was invited to a classmate's birthday party, Jeannie would show up with the other 6 just in time for cake cutting.

Dougs latest postcard shows the entire, extended family in front of the ocean with palm trees waving in the background. Did they take that on one of their boondongles? WHO PAID for all of those people to go there? I know Doug and Jeannie didn't... they are just too cheap with their own money. Wasn't Colorado good enough for a campaign picture?

Come on Doug, man up and do a live debate with your challenger. Show us that you can put together an intelligent argument mano-a-mano like you are suppose to do on the House floor, fighting for Coloradoans. Show us that there is more to you than just a vote. Show us that you can give Colorado a voice. Come on squeeky, come out of your hole.

Re: “Best of 2008: Let's Party Winners Index

Oh boy thanks for pointing out the gay bars. I would have been really upset if I wandered in there with my wife.

Re: “Side Dish

You mentioned a lot of background on Drifters but you missed one of the most important things they have the best burger in town at a price that is just perfect. I have seen at least 3 or 4 restaurants fold there. I am just across the street from Drifters and see that their parking lot is full all day. At lunch, cars are lined up in the street for the drive through, and people are lined up out the door. This goes on day after day. It is probably the most popular eating place in town.
