A death occured. So we have to look at the real problem; alcohol or guns? In today's society and the problems with people trying to rob you or take your life, you take the necessary precautions. For me it was get a conceal carry, become proficent with a weapon and make a commentment to protect my property.
Did the victim cross the threshold? No, unless you consider your property your threshold. Does consistant banging on your door consititute a reason for taking a shot? No, unless you read and hear about the robberies and murders that are taking place in our little California-esc berg, then you are not sure what rapist, robber or murderer is trying to come in to your home. I sure the owner of the castle that was being invaded was considering calling the law. But chances are he read the reports that money is slim and he might not have the protection necessary.
Sad a death occured. There was alcohol involved. Where were the victims friends? Wasted as well I suppose. I also know that a drunk is hard to reason with. I was called out many a night to take care of an airman that was 3 sheets in the wind or investigate a fatality of a drunken airman and find out that the person was incapable of reason or common sense.
So you have an individual that would swear on a stack of Bud cans that he was sure he was at his house and by gawd some one will let him in. And you have a resident that is scared sh**less that someone is coming to take his life.
My post is regarding the "space ain't the place." I read the article in both papers and no where did the article imply or state that the school will make the students become the minions of the war machine. Last time I looked though, a psych or polisci degree gave you an opening as a barista but not in some high paying jobs. But that is not the point. Let me ask this, what are you willing to get rid of in your house that was made by science, or discovered in space or by the military? What medication or medical services will you deny yourself because it was created by a arms merchant?
I responded via letters to the editor. The county is behind and I think the reason the inspectors think they smell is because their restrooms are not cleaned on a regular basis because of budget cuts.
I have been at the airport, several rest stops, businesses and such that are very clean. Cleaned once a day and if done according to Manufacturer's guidelines, will stay clean.
The biggest complaints I hear are from cities and counties that have a strong plumbers union. Because of the low maintenance the urnals will last for ever with little repair.
I was in Chicago and heard so many negative things but noone had ever seen one installed.
The following statement is telling of someone that is not a local: "What is really local about someone in City A selecting a jazz performance by Dexter Gordon, and someone in Colorado Springs selecting that performance off of a CD? I'm not sure that there is a huge difference, in reality."
The answer to that is that there is not a free access to music such as jazz.
I find it interesting as I travel to other cities and states of what is available and what band the music is broadcast on. Whether it is Chicago or Albuquerque, one can find a good variety and selection both on FM and AM. I also find that more AM stations are coming on board, providing music that the major FM broadcasters are replacing.
Maybe it is time to add some AM stations to the mix here in the Springs. Besides 1530, lets add a high def AM station that plays jazz, as Colorado Springs listeners want hear. Correct, it wont be FM, but the new technology with HD allows for some outstanding quality.
I do want to hear some Fatburger and Daddy Long Legs and maybe have a Blues segment. It can be done.
